This is my 3rd preg and definitely the worst in terms of tiredness and especially nausea! I feel just awful. And, I'm not even 6 weeks, so I'm probably in for a lot more of this if I dont' figure out a way to manage it.
I'm taking a regular multivitamin along with folic acid and iron (floradix pill form).
I read on another thread that there are some other options for prenatals that are less irritating.
But any other suggestions? What kinds of foods are more or less likely to contribute? I've never had to deal with this before. I am non-functional.
Does B6 on its own help? Or must I also take an antihistamine if I'm to try that? Here, Diclectin is available, which is the B6/antihistamine drug that was sold by another name in the US but is no longer available.

I don't know about the multivitamin, but I took mine with dinner and that seemed to help a lot. I had some terrible nausea this second time around. Actually that is what made me think I was pregnant. Not 3 weeks in, I was laid out and vomiting. Something that helped me...half-a full egg salad sandwich before bed (go light on the mayo) or a big bowl of lentil soup (freshly made) for dinner. That whole protein before bed thing help tons. I was still starving hungry in the morning, but not so much than if I didn't eat it.
~Thanks to MDC members who helped me figure that out!~

This is my 3rd (unexpected) pregnancy, and I'm just about as far along as you. I've had ms with all pregnancies, and it lasts into the 12th week. What I'm finding is working well for me is balancing carbs/proteins at every meal, with a protein "nightcap" (as other posters suggested). Also, the more I eat, the better I feel. I keep veggies and yogurt dip on hand at all time. I like cucumbers and watermelon especially, but the sweet fruit seems to make me salivate and get more nauseaus. Crackers and the like never worked for me. Veggies and proteins do.
Good luck!

:hug Being unavailable to mother your children is hard. :hug
I think this diet recommendation really helpful http://happygoldenyears.blogspot.com/2006/12/morning-sickness.html
Firstly though, make sure you look through this distinction between morning sicknes and hyperemsis. It's just good to do to make sure you're not way out. http://www.helpher.org/mothers/hyperemesis-or-morning-sickness/index.php

Mine peaked about about 6-7 weeks and it's been getting better since. I'm 10 weeks now and still gaggy and have food aversions but the main nausea is gone. So, don't give up hope.
Fresh pineapple got me through the roughest time. Other fruit was also good. Squeezing lemon into my water helped. Chewing peppermint gum or sucking on mints helped. I couldn't gag ginger, so I don't know if that actually helps. Eating often also helped.
