View Full Version : More baby movement after a fall?

Ok so yesterday I had a small fall down our stairs.
Just the last three on my bottom/ back, it hurt obviously, but there was no cramping, fluid, bleeding etc. And I could feel the baby move and kick.

But today and yesterday the baby was far more active than normal, I still don't feel concerned about the fall, but I guess I am more surprised than anything. Maybe it all just coincidental.

Should I be worried?

I was involved in a very minor rear end collision a couple of weeks ago (I'm due mid January) and that was something I called my midwife about. I really did know everything was fine, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing some serious symptom. So I'd call, but I trust your instincts that all is well. How's that for a politician-type answer?

wow, that is so weird. I was going to post the same question. I slipped the same way down my stairs, about four steps and landed on my back. I scared the heck out of myself, not to mention my 7 year old neice. Must of sounded like a mini earth quake!!! lol

Anyway, I dont have any bleeding or cramping at all and I think I did my best to break the fall, with my arms, it happened so fast, not much I could do. But I hear you, though, my baby has woken up! He has been so quiet up until now, but now he's moving and a grooving. I have a baby heart doppler and I have been checking his heart rate, it sounds fine. I don't think I did any damage, I have a dr. appt. tommorow so I will be able to talk to my OB about it.

I think because I landed on my back, it didn't really do much to hurt baby. He's been kicking here and there and I dont' feel any pain other than I am sore becasue I stretched my legs and arms beyond what they are used too. Plus the top of my abdomen is sore because i stretched it as well.

I don't think you should be too worried, it sounds like you baby are fine. But in any doubt check with your doctor.

:lol I will agree - since the fall the baby is playing back with us - it's like I shook him/ her awake or something. DH was able to play a little just the other night - He shook my belly - the baby kicked back - it was fun and amazing.

....

I think there is something about this time in pregnancy for falls, my sister did almost the same thing at the same point in her pregnancy. She now has a very beautiful healthy little boy. (I love my nephew!)

Thanks to you all. I don't feel crazy for worrying a little - even with no apparent problems

I fell hard on Monday evening. I have not noticed increased movement, but the baby is constantly moving it seems these days. I did not call my OB, but I have a regular OB checkup today and I will mention it to her.

Sorry you fell....it scared the beejeezes out of me when I did plus I was home alone.
