Hi there! San Diego mamas sign in here!
Shall we try to get together again? It was such a good time!
So sorry I couldn't get together a camping trip. Seanra keeps me too busy to organize a family camp out!!! I think I need to stick to playgroups ;)
formerly doulajulie, now freethinkingmom :)
Hi! It's me, Rebecca. Glad you're back.
Another get together would be great.

Hi fellow San Diegettes!
My dd is born 8/18/99, and I'd love to meet some other mamas in town!! My problem is that I don't have a car (but we do ride a bike with a childseat), so I'd like to stay near my neighborhood of Hillcrest. Let me know where you're at!!
Simone
Hi! Simonee,
We're in Normal Heights, and I work at the UH library. Do you go there?
Last time we had a get together it was in Balboa Park, so if we do that again, I'm sure you could make it.

Hi Rebecca,
Well, I used to go to "your" library quite a bit, and I'll stop by soon. With Audrey, of course. She and dh go to the park at Adams and Park several times a week, so we may already know you. I look forward to meeting you (and freethinkingmom) sometime this week!
I'm only at the library part time, this week its Friday, I'm also at the mission hills lib. on Mondays.
We don't go to that park much anymore since their is no bathroom (I always like to be prepared now that Nick is potty trained). My husband takes the boys there more often than I do. We're at the other end of Adams and usually go to the library/park in Kensington.

Hi Rebecca and other So Cal Moms - I was at the Balboa Park lunch but then disapeared as we moved to the 'burbs. I'd love to hook-up again. If anyone is in the Poway area and would like to get together for a playgroup/coffee talk etc. let me know. Thanks! Glad to know your're out there!
Hi! I would love to get together! We havent been in San Diego (we live in Mexico) as often, the border crossing has been CRAZY, now theres a phone line that tells you how many cars are waiting so I'll have to be "hunting" the right moment to go accross!
We'd love to see you all!:)

Hello all! I am a San Diego mom who is new to the boards. We (ds, 16 mos and I) would like to hook up with some/all of you if you have a rendez vous at the park, or wherever. We live pretty close to Balboa Park and go there fairly often. Look forward to meeting you!
How about sometime in the new year.
We're real hectic right now but maybe the 2nd or 3rd week of Jan. would be good?
simonee
12-28-2001, 03:08 PM
That would work for us. We've also been to busy to get anything going, but how about meeting in Balboa Park some weekend afternoon in January?

Hi everyone,
I live in Escondido, and would love to get together with some other moms!! My ds will be 2yrs on Feb. 28th. Still nursing him and co-sleeping. Never thought I'd be doing this, but I love it! It works for us. Do any/all of you stay at home or work? Just curious. I have a home business, so it keeps me home with my ds.
Mary
I work part-time for the SD Library.
Then I'm home the rest of the time with the boys.
About getting together. What days aregood for everyone?

I just wanted to say hi to all the San Diego mammas. We're enjoying our new house here in AZ and really love being near family again--the grandparents are in heaven having DS only an hour away now. I'm sorry we didn't get to see all of you before we left. I really enjoyed meeting all you wonderful mammas and your beautiful babies! Take care! Love, Heather and Shankar

Let's do it.
Let us get together and have fun.
How is January 10th? That is a Thursday. A week from tomorrow!
Where shall we do it? We could meet at Balboa Park again. The bathrooms are so yucky tho. Does anyone else have any ideas?
Seanra is calling! Gotta go!
nicsmom
01-03-2002, 03:10 PM
Thursday Jan 10 works for us.
We love Balboa Park (were you thinking of one of the playgrounds or somewhere else?) so that would be fine for us.
Another suggestions is the playground at Mission Bay (just off I-5, near Fiesta Island). It's a nice area, but the bathrooms are pretty yucky there too.
simonee
01-03-2002, 03:42 PM
Thursday in Balboa Park would be best for us, preferably in the pm. Yucky bathrooms seem to be hard to avoid here as in almost any public place in SD :(
Am I glad DD isn't potty trained yet :p

Or, alternatively, how 'bout the zoo? Does everybody have memberships?
squirrelgirl
01-03-2002, 06:00 PM
Hello! I'm from San Diego also. I have 1 very active 3 and a half yo dd, and 1 10 mo dd. Simonee, your husband told me about the playgroup today at the Trolley park. I haven't renewed my zoo membership but am contemplating doing it soon. Hope to meet you all real soon. :)
freethinkingmom
01-03-2002, 08:17 PM
I was thinking about the playground located on 6th in between Upas and Quince.
From the 163 South take the University Ave exit, go straight off exit onto 6th Ave. Immediately past Upas make the left onto Balboa Drive (It looks like you're turning on Upas) Park is on the right.
I don't have a zoo membership. I'm not sure I want one either, but of course don't let that stop y'all from hooking up there! :thumb
So how about after lunch? Around 1:00? How does this time sound? Does this interfere with anyones naptime? If so, let's come up with a better one :)
Cool!
Julie

01-03-2002, 08:38 PM
The playground at 6th and Spruce sounds wonderful, and 1 is a good time for us.
Squirrelgirl, so nice to see you here! It'll be great to have two Audrey Janes at the "party", and mine told me all about how she and Violet shared candy :)
See you all there, I hope. Shall someone who is subscribed to the thread (like me) email everybody that's been posting, so nobody misses out?
Peter is often napping then, but we'll try to make it.

01-08-2002, 04:06 PM
So are we on for Thursday at 1:00?
I need to know to make plans, so if you're going let me know!!

Did anybody make it?
I forgot about an accupuncture appointment, so thats were I was.

Hi Rebecca and others,
I was there, as were Julie (freethinkingmom), a friend of hers, and Chris (nicsmom). Let's try to schedule it a little bit more ahead next time, so that we can all make it. It's so nice to meet other mothering moms (and who knows, Barbara, one of these days we'll probably see you in the park again. How's Audrey's cold?)

Hello all! I am also a San Diego mama & a long time member of the boards. My boys are 2 1/2 & 5 1/2. We are also expecting another babe the end of June. I haven't been online much lately due to morning sickness. Blah... We haven't been getting out much since I've felt so yuckie & have no energy. I had an appointment with my midwife so we couldn't come anyway. Turns out she called right before I left & cancelled on me. She had a mama in labor. Oh well. Maybe we can make it next time. I just wanted to say "hi" & introduce myself. Some of you already know me but some don't. (Hi freethingingmom! :love )
HI, we couldnt go because we had a cough! :(
BUT next saturday 19th theres a multicultural fair on the streets sourrounding the childrens museum www.sdchildrensmuseum.org
and it sounds real fun. It starts at 11am what do you think?
We will be going anyway!
Congratulations organicmama!
HOLA HOLA....... HELLO!!!!!! :)
Theres another address for the info on this fair, check it at downtownsdevents.com
Hope all of you see this!

If DD wants to go, we'll definitely be there. We'd come in the afternoon, 2 or 3 or so. I'm 6'1" tall (easy to recognize), blond, and will wear a sling out of "Mexican tablecloth" fabric (the dark fabric with little bright patches). DD is 1 1/2 and very blond.
I hope to see you there!

I would like to go too! Is there a good place for us all to meet?
I tried to check out the link Lupita and didn't have any luck finding information. I can't wait to see Tomas again!!!
This sounds like a nice time and thank you for bringing it to our attention!!!
Julie :love
Edited to say: I found the info! I had the date wrong :p
Here is an exact link: http://downtownsdevents.com/january.htm

Sounds like a great day!!!:D
Great! Well try to be there for the native american dance, maybe we could meet there its from 11:45 to 12:15.
And also make a later meeting at the Reggae group that will be playing from 3:00 till 3:45.
There will also be belly dancing and a puppet show but I dont have the schedule for those!
Is this ok with both of you?
simonee
01-17-2002, 02:38 AM
Audrey has been pretty fickle about going out since she heard a "big noise" outside last weekend , but if she's at all willing to go somewhere we'll definitely be at the reggae show. The Native American dance is too early for us, because we sleep from about 4 to 12 - lol
Simone
Thats great, we might have to take a nap at some point between 1 and 3! Thats only if Tomi doesnt get too excited!
So hope to see you at the reggae!

Hi all,
Luma and I have been seeing each other in Balboa Park on Tuesday afternoons, when there's a toddler drum class in the World Beat center. Next Tuesday, February 26th, we're going to skip the class to meet at the playground at Sixth and Spruce (on the west side of the park) at 3 pm.
We have one two-year old each, and would be very happy to see more of you coming. The playground is for little kids (a little more laid-back than the large playground near the World Beat Center), and has some nice grassy areas and squirrels. My daughter has liked it since before she could walk, and kids till about 4 seem to really enjoy the playing equipment. Join on in!!!

We'll be house hunting tomorrow, but if we finish early we'll try to swing by!

Sorry rsps and organicmama. Somehow my subscription to this thread got cancelled, so I wasn't aware there were responses.
What happened is that someone got sick, so both Luma and I didn't make it yesterday. We've rescheduled to Friday (March 1), same time (3:00) same place (Balboa playground @ 6th and Spruce).
And next time I'll make sure to check the thread when there are changes to plans I was involved in. I hope nobody went there thinking we'd all be bf-ing our teenagers, just to run into a bunch of authoritarians ;)
Oh Rebecca, I suddenly remember that you work in the library on Fridays. Well, if you can't make it, we still plan on going again next Tuesday and many Tuesdays after that!
We didn't try to go, both boys have been sick, and we're trying not to infect anybody.
simonee
03-04-2002, 12:15 AM
Luma and I and kids will be in Balboa park at 6th and Spruce again this Tuesday (the 5th). Hope to see some of you!
we will be meeting at 3 pm :)

03-04-2002, 06:21 PM
We will try to be there, but I don't know if we will. We can't seem to shake this awful throwing up bug. Aidan (my 3 year old) has had it 3 times! Luca got it Friday, got better and now is acting sick again. I feel pretty yucky myself. Blech!
I want to start going to the drum classes, though.
Anyone else getting flattened by this awful stomach bug. It has really been attacking our family!
Jo
:sick
I'd like to go to the drum classes too. One of these days I'll get organized enough.
DH is taking Nick to the Natural History Museum Tuesday for the T. Rex exhibit (free tues.) Maybe the baby and I will try to come by and say Hi.
simonee
03-04-2002, 08:12 PM
The drum classes were great, but lately there's been a lot of much older kids, and my toddler finds it too noisy. After the first few minutes, all she wants is to nurse, and after a while of that she wants to leave because "my no like noise."
I plan on asking the teacher if the class might be split at some point, but until then we likely won't go. We'll be in the park though!

03-08-2002, 11:27 AM
Hi all! My subscription to this thread must have gotten cancelled somehow too. Thanks, Luma, for the note to check the thread. We'd love to meet some of you in the park - do you usually go on Tuesdays at 3? I see we have missed this week's get together.
Simone, my ds had the same reaction as your dd last time we went to drumming class. After about 5 minutes he wanted to nurse. Then, when he finished with that, he grabbed my hand and headed for the door. We haven't been back since. I don't know when we'll try again. It seems like such a neat thing, but he gave me a pretty clear message that he didn't want to be there.
youre welcome nicsmom, same here, ds got a bit petrified with the noise, the1st time we were there it wasnt like that, and he liked it and didnt wanted to leave, but then the next class there were older kids and was really noisy, not at all what he likes!
We have been meeting at the park, 3pm tuesdays.
whos up for next tues?

Is anybody still meeting at the park on Tuesdays at 3:00? We kept forgetting (that mommy memory affliction I have), but went last week. Didn't see any familiar or easily recognizable mothering types. (You know, those nursing teenagers, right Simone? ;) )

04-11-2002, 04:19 PM
Luma and I have been going to the playground at 6th and Spruce regularly, but at changing times. Mostly either Tuesday or Friday at 3.30, which has turned out to be the time that works best for us. She's visiting family for the next 10 days, but Audrey and I will be happy to set something up with you and anybody else who's interested.
We'll just dig a few teenagers out of the woodwork, or grab a few joggers, and shove our boobs at them :D
I'm at my email most of the day. You can always access me at simonepaul@cox.net
Hello,
We're in San Diego, too. I'm 28, have a 2 and a half year old ds and a 16 month old dd. We love to get out of the house and are at Balboa Park all the time. I'll keep checking back and hopefully will meet up with you all sometime.

Luma and I are going to meet Fri May 3 at 6th and Spruce (Balboa park) at 4.30. I'm going there next Tuesday at 3.30 as well, but I don't know if luma will show up.
I'm extremely tall, reddishbrown hair, riding a bike with an almost-3 year old skinny strawhead girl riding on the front. Luma is Latina with a very Irish-looking 2-year old boy who usually wears a blue striped "train engineer" hat.
It'd be fun to see more of us!

Hey Julie,
I'm not sure that day will work. The SD marathon goes right by there that Sun morning (though much earlier). I don't know if any post-marathon activities will be planned in the park, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were. The marathon is a major event.
Anyway, if it's not too crowded and we're up in time :) we'll be there!

Hello everyone!
The next Community Vibes playtime ;) is Saturday, June, 29th at 11:00 am.
The place is Mission Bay Park. I haven't been there yet, but hear it is a nice park. Yes, it is a Saturday and will probably be busy BUT please come anyway and play! We'll find our own "spot" and have lots of fun!!! This is a family event!
Bring what you need to feel comfy!
Please if you could bring a snack to share that would be great. Fruit, popcorn, chips and dips, pita...you know, you're a mama, mamas know :)
My best friend~sister will be in town with her family - so come meet us and play, smile, feel the ocean breeze...
Much love,
peace out :hippie

Mission bay park has several playgrounds. Any idea which one to pick? The main playgroud is huge and busy but nice, off tecolote/sea world dr. There's a smaller one near the visitors info center/ clairmont dr. is also nice, plus there's others I've not been to.

In addition, here is some info from LLL about World Breastfeeding Week:
Several of you have asked about the World Walk for Breastfeeding, so I will
pass on what information we have so far:
We have the 31st of August reserved at Balboa Park, near the 6th Ave.
playground, for 100 people, from 9am to 1pm.
We'll be having a potluck picnic, games, a raffle, and lots of fun for all
the San Diego Chapter LLL families and any interested parties who wish to
attend. A symbolic 1 mile walk will follow.
We will have pledge forms available at the July and August meetings. If
you'd like to help with the Walk with fundraising, please let Jill know
(jnjeast@concentric.net). There will also be t-shirts available with La
Leche League World Walk logo on them, if you'd like to get one for the
event. They will be $7, and orders will be taken at the July series
meeting.

I'll really try to make that- where is 6th and Spruce.. is that downtown? And is it a park? I got my drivers licence today (yeah!!) but I need specific directions so I don't get all lost! I look forward to meeting you all.
6th and Spruce are the cross streets for the apporx. location of a nice playground in Balboa park.
You could but the cross streets into mapquest and get driving directions. The only tricky thing is some of the streets around there are one way, so If you miss a turn it can be alittle tricky to get back.
We'll try to be there.
Nick is doing Dino day camp at the Natural History Museum, which ends at 4pm.

Hi all,
I'm new to the boards and mother to a 6 month old son. i'd love to meet some other moms, especially in my area (Normal Heights), since I don't always have a car at my disposal.
I enjoy spending the days with my baby, but I want to have a little less "home" in my stay-at-home lifestyle.
Pleased to meet all of you.

I know this is late notice, but there is alot of live music in Balboa Park tomorrow~ around the World Beat Center. We'll be there.
I rarely make it to the boards anymore, rarely answer emails...so someone call me and remind me of these playgroups!!! ;)

Hi Julie :snap
It looks like we're going to meet in Balboa Park (6th and Spruce) this Thursday (22nd) at 4 pm. It'd be so nice to see you, and I bet Seanra is such a big girl now. Last time I saw her, she was just about 1 year old. And now she'll probably scamper right up the slide! :D
BTW it'd be fun to meet sometime on the beach in OB too. But since I don't have a car, I'd only go if it were warm enough to ride the bike over that windy stretch at the river with Audrey in front, or if I could bum a ride somewhere. Lumaaaaa....... please........ we'll make you some.... uh..... risotto? :D

That was fun, yesterday. Beside me (and dh), rsps, happy and bubbles were there with the kiddos. And we kinda agreed that it would probably be best if we reserved this time, i.e. Thursdays at 4, for the same gathering. That way, all us SD mamas can always be sure that all we have to do to meet our buddies is go to Balboa Park on Thursday afternoon :thumb It seems that there's enough of us now to ensure that there'll always be at least a few mamas there. I'll definitely try to make it weekly.
That also means that we should plan other get-togethers more on the side. It seems that most of us SAH anyway, so we probably have more than enough long days to fill.... ;) Wednesday OB gathering sounds cool!
What does everybody think about that idea? Does it sound okay?
Hey, happy and bubbles, it was fun to meet you! And it's always good to see you, rsps! Next time we'll bring a whole stack of zoo buckets :D
Hey Julie, sorry about Seanra's c'pox :(. I wouldn't have minded a party, actually, because Audrey could probably deal with it okay by now ~ except that we have a weekend out of town planned in 2 weeks, and we don't want germy interference :) I hope she's not too sick. Is she through the fever yet? Are you clipping her nails like... uh... twice a day? Give her a big :hug
And sorry you couldn't make it, Chris :) and Loopy one :wild

OK, Shall we have an Ocean Beach get together?
Wednesday, August 28th, which is this Wednesday.
We can meet at the beach around 3 pm, play and then head over to the farmer's market? OB is home to many yummy restaurants, so if you'd like we could go and grab treats too. We have a new wrap restaurant- vegan and organic and delicious. They have smoothies and vegan shakes too. $4 for a wrap.
We can meet where Santa Monica runs into Abbott. Where they meet is the Lifeguard Station, a grassy area and of course the beach!
Anyways, how does this sound mamas?
I think the regular meeting at 6th and Spruce sounds good too. Thursdays at 4. Seanra and I will try to make it. It will be a good excuse to go eat at Celedon- my FAVORITE Thai restaurant :D
:love julie
PS, Seanra is feeling alot better, but I'm still unsure of exactly what the rash was. Unfortunatly today she leaned against her little scooter, it moved and she hit right above her eye on our low window sill in the kitchen :crying I thought I was going to die. My poor honey! It is her worst owie yet :(
We might be able to make it, but have a previous commitment in the morning so maybe not.
What's parking like these days, since it's still the summer season?
I'll also through in a trip to People's while I'm that way.

Bumping up the LLL walk info in Balboa Park this Saturday...
Let's let the world and San Diego know that BREASTMILK IS BEST!!! If we don't do it who will? ;)
Leche League World Walk logo on them, if you'd like to get one for the
event. They will be $7, and orders will be taken at the July series
meeting.
I hope to see you all there!!!

It starts at around 3:30. We can meet earlier at the beach and then walk together. We can gather at my place so that parking isn't a problem, if you'd like.

Ok mamas...
I'm feeling gutsy again...
Anyone up for camping? Let's pick a weekend and go. I'm thinking Lake Morena. Depending on how many will want to go (invite your friends and family that aren't apart of Mothering- if you think they will enjoy sleeping under the stars with a gang of toddlers and kids :)) We can get the group camp section for $50.00 a night. If 5 or more families go, this would be the way to do it as the single sites are $12.00 a night.
Here is a link:
http://www.co.san-diego.ca.us/cnty/cntydepts/landuse/parks/camping/lake_morena/lake_morena.html
Here is a link to all the campgrounds: http://www.co.san-diego.ca.us/cnty/cntydepts/landuse/parks/services/newcamping.html
I'm thinking the last weekend in September that is the 28th and 29th. We can have folks show up in time for lunch on Saturday and leave after lunch or sunset on Sunday.
I think the easiest way to do food and gear is for everyone to bring their own. If we want to do this again in the future maybe we could coordinate a meal together, unless someone has a plan. Would anyone like to help me plan and motivate people to go? Maybe it would be easy to roast tofu dogs over a fire one night and again, everyone would bring their own stuff.
I'm open to all ideas to email or pm me :)

Ok, I've asked enough questions!!
YOu got the time, now I will try to answer the rest. 6th and Spruce is the place in the park. There is a playground there. YOu can usually park right on the street close to the playground. The OB market is the Farmer's marked. The store in OB is the OB People's Food Co-op. I don't know what the membership fee is but it is easy to join and a great place to shop. I shopped there years ago before it remodelled but have not been recently. I hear it is really great. NOt as big as Whole Foods but better prices and a good experience. It is an organic and natural foods store. HOpefully we will meet sometime soon. I can't make it Thursday.

We'll probably be there by 2.30 or 3 on Thursday.
BTW we've taken to going to the other Balboa Park playground, next to hte world beat center on Tuesdays at around 3.30 (after the toddler drum class in the world beat center ~ for who doesn't know about it, this is a great outing, only Audrey finds it too loud :( ), because she sees a friend there every week. So we'll be there tomorrow too!

Hi all
I don't think I can make it this afternoon :( So sorry, because I asked for us all to meet. My dilemma is stupid and petty- Micky's work has a huge ball tomorrow, and my cats ripped up my silk dress last night :( I had it hanging in the living room. It is very not-wearable and I am panicking big time. I need to go and try to find a dress (this thing is at the Hotel Del Coronado, adn I really don't want to go, but don't want to let Micky down). Anywya, this is a really crap excuse, but I hope you all have fun, and I hope we can meet again soon.

Hey Lucy,
I have a beautiful dark green ballroom-type dress, velvet bodice and shimmery bottom. Calf length. It's also met a cat claw, but it has a ribbon that pretty much covers it up. Wanna try it? It's size 12-14 I think (I got it from a friend who has worn it once); I've never worn it, it's a bit too big and I didn't have an opportunity to wear it while I was pg before.
SOmetimes cats suck.

oh Simonee, I wish I had read your message before I went out! The dress sounds perfect. I did find one though, a pretty burgundy dress with silver clasps on it ( sounds tacky but it's not!). Buying it has actually put me more in a party mood, so I guess it was a good thing! I hope you guys had fun today at the park, and I hope we can meet soon (maybe next week?) Sorry again

Don't worry about it Lucy. I was actually thinking that burgundy would look lovely on you, and I'm glad you got one. Show us the pix next week in the park though!

Seanra and I have been back in Chicago for a few weeks. We are now home...ahhhhh...so glad to be back in weather that doesn't torture you.
We'll be up for a visit soon :)
I'm also trying to sell our dollhouse (we have 2 and don't need 2), here is the info and I can email pictures no problem:
San Diego area Mamas...I'm selling our wooden dollhouse and furniture...have pics...m
Hello there,
You'll see 1st a colorful children's bedroom $13 (in stores $20)
2nd Plan Toys bathroom $11 (in stores $15)
3rd Plan Toys children's bedroom (missing one mattress pad) $15 (in stores $22)
4th the dollhouse and all the furniture. There are 4 members in this family, my daughter ran away with the son while I was taking the pic. He is of course included There are 3 balconies off 3 rooms. You'll see the biggest one on top, and the other 2 are kind of hidden by the furniture. The front doors slide open and shut. I put one door open and one door slid shut so you can see the difference. While it is a notch below plan toys, it is AWESOME. I actually like the dollhouse alot more than the plan toys one because of the balconies. The plan toys one doesn't have that. By a notch below I mean that the wood is not always one color and not top quality, BUT it is totally acceptable for my tastes. Just a plan toys dollhouse is $70 and you don't get anything with it, not one piece of furniture. I'm asking $80 for the dollhouse, family and furniture.
If you want it all (including furniture above dollhouse description)...Make me an offer! I'll give you a deal.
I really just need the funds. We'll be travelling to visit family next week, so the money is needed. I'll need to deliver it to before Wednesday. So please let me know asap!
Thanks so much for your interest!
Thanks for looking
I just added up what a plan toys house and furniture would be with prices from a wooden toy store online. It would be $218 + shipping.
With the other furniture that I showed you pics of it would be $275 + shipping.
Is the pic good enough you can see all the furniture? If not I can describe...There is the kitchen, bathroom, dining room, living room and bathroom furniture. Not one piece is missing!
PM me and I'll email you pictures of everything.
With love and peace,
Julie & family

I missed home when I read through a bunch of you alls entries. I now live in Eugene, OR, which is lovely and we can afford live here and have me stay home with dd on a teacher's income. I always get a bit homesick this time (grey, wet, etc) time of year. I will be visiting family back home (San Diego) in a few weeks and wonder if there are any good children's resale shops? While I love my family, I know after the first day I'll need a break - why not go shopping? Thanks for letting me eavesdrop!:p

Hey all,
we're going to the playground on the other side of Balboa Park (next to the World beat center on Park ave) tomorrow (Tuesday) around 3.30. Actually, jeff and Audrey have been doing that for weeks, right after hte beat center drum class, because she has a friend who's always there. So feel free to join in!
Hi hotmama,
sorry, I don't resell babies, we got a real nice one as it is :D :D
Oh, and we don't have a car, so we don't get out of Hillcrest a lot. Funny, we're moving up to OR (Ashland) in 3 or 4 months, too. But when you're in town, you can maybe meet some of us at one of our playdates? We'll be gone between Dec 20 and Jan 3 or so, but before or after we'll play!

And wildflowermama, where is IB?
Simonee, I can't make it tomorrow, but are we meeting on Wednesday? Can anyone make it? I promise I won't wimp out this time ;) By the way, DH's Christmas party went ok- the dress was great- though the average age there was 85 so it wasn't the wildest night I've ever had
hi mamas! we wont make it this week and maybe neither the following because the line is reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally busy this days but in jan we will be ready for more playdates :)
wildflowermama I would love to meet you in IB (imperial beach) its through Palm Avenue right? Its closer to us!
I suppose that next time we meet it will be january and Tomi will be 3!!!!!!!
He is doing lots of new things and faces and attitudes that do seem more child and less baby like, these changes are amazing...!
I though that the 3 year old mark was kind of arbitrary and that I was going to have a 4year old toddler :LOL but hey!!! he keeps growing up!

SDMommy - we'll be down in SD the 26th, 30th and 31st. The other days we'll be in North County, or Murrietta, the weirdest town you ever did see. Have you been there? Every single building looks exactly alike, red tile roofs as far as the eye can see. My sister lives there.

Hi San Diego mamas!
I am a friend of Lucy's. I was wondering if the Trolley Barn park where you meet is the one at Park & Adams? I used to work at the *GASP* deli across the street from that park when I was going through school! Good sandwiches if you eat meat (I don't anymore).
I would love to meet you all sometime, too! Do any of you go to the LLL park days in east county at all?
Erin :)

Hi Erin!!
I'm pretty sure none of the ladies here go to the LLL park days, but they should! And yes, Trolley Barn park is across from the deli, which also serves nice veggie burgers :)
So, are we going to the zoo this week ladies? What day is good? Maybe Thursday? Otherwise we could meet at the park again? What does everyone think?

I have a zillion commitments for Wed. so probably not, but I just checked the weather report online and it said only partly cloudy Wed. and Thurs. (rain the rest of the week)

Hi, I'm a new member and live in the East County. I read a post about a toddler drum class that sounds interesting. I have been looking for a class that my 2 and 4 year old boys can attend at the same time. This has been most frustrating! So many music or dance classes have age constraints that make it hard for me to get them both in. I'm not interested in separating them, so if anyone knows of a fun activity... Please let me know. I desparatly miss the Children's Museum, does anyone know of another similar place? I read a post, I think it was Bubbles (?) asking about a Chiropractor...I know the best one alive! O.K. maybe a slight exageration but...he is an expert w/children. He's actually more of a Naturopath, but spent his early years focused on childrens chiropractic. Of course he also helps adults, and is covered by most insurance companies. Feel free to pm me if interested. Also, there was a post on children's resale shops...I discovered ebay recently and have found some amazing things for the kids, shopping from home is much better for me right now. That's all. I'm so glad there is a local message board for moms like me!

Hi omegamama! If you're quick, you can make it to the drum class. It's in the World Beat Center, on Park ave in Balboa Park, near the south end of the park (just north of the I5 exit), every Tuesday at 3 pm. It lasts about half an hour. It'll be fun to meet you!
We were scheduled to go to legoland on Thurs. But now Nick's been vomitting all day, so who kows when we'll be out and about again

Hello,
Seanra and I have been doing alot of hanging at home recently. I hope we can meet up with you all soon. She naps anywhere between 12 and 2 so it is hard to make some of the play dates.
She is also (STILL) going thru this hitting phase. She especially targets babies :crying It is really sad and frustrating for me. I have tried EVERYTHING and have finally decided we will not go around younger children at all until it passes (hopefully soon). We have been invited to some Solstice parties and I have said we won't be able to make it because I know younger ones will be there. I'm fine with not attending, I just hope she realizes what she is doing soon. Anyone else had/have this issue? She LOVES older children, never hits them. We have NEVER hit her or each other or anything at all for that matter so it is really a mystery to me. I guess for some toddlers it is normal?!?
We have been having fun staying in tho! Painting and coloring, reading and learning how to count! I've also done alot of organizing and simplifying...I have alot to go, but I'm starting to feel much like I have less stuff and I LOVE it!!!
Maybe we will try the drum class again. We tried it 2x when she was younger and both times the teacher didn't show :( How much is it again? $3?
Hope you all are doing well and if anyone wants to come to OB to hang- come on down! We'll have a paintbrush waiting for you ;)
