I even asked this question before and wise moms figured out what books I'm talking about. And then I forgot the names of the books! :dizzy:

They're really old, maybe early 1900's. There's these kids, maybe a brother and sister. They have adventures and learn how to sew and clean house and cook (I think.) Basically they are childrens instruction books. My impression is that the author was a woman and it may have been from Germany? It was kind of Waldorfian.

Any idea?

Elsa Beskow? She's Swedish, from around that era.

The specific link won't work here, but Magic Cabin has her books.

Peter and Lotta? (http://www.amazon.com/Peter-Lottas-Adventure-Maartman-Beskow/dp/0863153984/sr=8-16/qid=1168578763/ref=sr_1_16/102-4168533-1061717?ie=UTF8&s=books)

There are several books by Elsa Beskow that have them as characters.
The first is Aunt Green, Aunt Brown and Aunt Lavender.

Are they the Mary Frances books, by Jane Eayre Fryer? Here's a link to the cooking book (http://www.powells.com/biblio/61-1594621772-1) on Powell's. Mary Frances learns how to do various housekeeping tasks with the help of ordinary household objects that come to life and teach her. Cute books, written around 1910-ish.
