I have a friend who is interested in homebirth in Alabama (Tuscaloosa) and needs to contact a midwife. How can she find out if there are any in her area? Thanks!!!

If you go to midwifery today.com, you can find midwives in different states. Im not sure but it is worth a try!!!

Thanks Karalina for posting on my behalf. I searched the web over and did find several midwives including one about 120 miles away. The ones I had hoped to find in Birmingham have either moved or stopped practicing.
While I find that dissappointing, I understand. Midwifery is a wonderful occupation that, especially in states like Alabama where most midwives practice underground, requires commitment, dedication, responsibility and no small amount of risk. Practicing midwifery is both a calling and an act of courage for these women.
If anyone knows of a midwife closer to Tuscaloosa, I'd love to hear about her.
Peace,
Sarah
I can help with the search if you are still interested. I am in NC now, but trained with a CPM in Alabama for three years. Email me, please: juancocina@aol.com
