View Full Version : Midwife in AL, How to find? Karalina 02-09-2002, 12:35 PM I have a friend who is interested in homebirth in Alabama (Tuscaloosa) and needs to contact a midwife. Im not sure but it is worth a try!!! sarahwebb 02-14-2002, 12:30 PM Thanks Karalina for posting on my behalf. I searched the web over and did find several midwives including one about 120 miles away. The ones I had hoped to find in Birmingham have either moved or stopped practicing. While I find that dissappointing, I understand. Midwifery is a wonderful occupation that, especially in states like Alabama where most midwives practice underground, requires commitment, dedication, responsibility and no small amount of risk. Practicing midwifery is both a calling and an act of courage for these women. If anyone knows of a midwife closer to Tuscaloosa, I'd love to hear about her.
