View Full Version : So what are you eating?

I'm currently feeling both sick and hungry. Sweet stuff just revolts me (for the first time in my life- this is so weird) and the only thing that tastes entirely good, apart from McDonalds burgers :gloomy: is plain unflavoured yoghurt and bananas. IOW, not exactly a balanced diet.
So inspire me: what are you eating? Truthfully?

Besides my daily whole foods chocolate chip cookie. I've been eating pretty well. I have been eating lots though. Definitely 3 square meals plus some. It's very good for me though, I need to be sure to eat, because when I get even a little bit hungry, I get heartburn!

Flapjack, I've had my share of McDonald's burgers too! It's been a craving. Crazier still, I hardly ever eat meat outside of pregnancy.

I am trying to eat healthy...but not doing well so far. I just had mickey d's for breakfast and will probably eat bbq for lunch. I keeping telling myself that being pregnant does not give me the right to eat 24/7. But if I don't eat...I get crampy and nauseated. I am trying to eat small but frequent meals.

Luckily for me I have been trying out WW "Core" diet (mostly) since last Easter. So now I am "falling back" on that as much as I can... But I warn you, I am feeling VERY nauseous lately and not interested in food much.
Breakfast, I LOVE granola with fat free yogurt instead of milk. (I used to mix in what ever fruit was handy, but lately cant stand the stuff) I also like musli (sp?) with fat free milk. If you like fat free cottage cheese with canned pinapple onto low fat/salt rice cake that is also a real winner with me. (Cant stand pinapple suddenly though?)
I'll add, my husband adores his blender!! Take fat free milk, fat free yogurt, and mix in frozen fruit for the BEST smoothies. (Add vanilla if you want) PS. "Hidding" all the fat free stuff in other foods makes it taste better... Just dont bother trying to cook with fat free cheese, it does NOT melt the same.
Morning snack, oranges and grapefruits which I eat apx one a day. Bananas also used to be high on the list along with grapes or what ever is in season.
Lunch is Progresso 100 calorie soups (veggie, chicken noodle, etc) with salad [veggies of season] using one of those "spray on" dressings. I also sometimes eat leftovers from dinner, but right now, again, cant stand the stuff.
Afternoon snack, cheese stick, yogurt stick, veggies with dip, chips as a spoon for salsa. I keep all of this in my kitchen at all times, just in case.
Dinner, if I feel like cooking I make brown pasta or brown rice or couscous with stir fried (in "spray on" oil or butter FYI) chicken pork or beef with veggies (fresh if I can get them) and then I mix on top some spice or sauce packet or jar. We drink water with meals.
Dessert, well here ya go. I am a crazy oreo fan!! So at the end of the day I have a glass of milk and dip my oreos, slowly!! I've also been known to eat a peice of really really expensive chocolate (gifts) with my milk too.
PS. When I eat out, like at McDs I "go for it" and have the chicken selects. I usually skip the fries though. My favorite is the Angus burger at Burger King, it's very yummy. If you can, order a burger and eat only the bottom bun, or no bun? I usually rearrange my burger to rip off half the bun and squash the meat into the middle for tidyness. Also, dont get cheese just meat. Sometimes I do eat ONLY the fries though. I did that in school and at least it is fewer calories that fries AND a burger.

I've been craving protein so I had a "Sunshine Burger" last night which is made from brown rice, sunflower seeds, carrot & onion.
For breakfast I had multi-grain squares w/rice milk. I can't do much in the way of sweets either but that cereal is pretty bland.
I've also been eating english muffins w/a little bit of butter and toast w/nut butter (almond or sunflower seed).
A wholelottagrains, now that I look back. I have 2 beautiful heads of red romaine in the fridge that I can't imagine eating right now!
Must eat some living foods!
Let me preface by saying that I have not really been dealing with m/s and that I am ravenous; I get hungry less than an hour after eating.
Favorite breakfast: burrito made with an egg, hot sauce, and fat free refried beans.
Favorite luch: A baked potato with cottage cheese and salsa along with some other veggie and fruit.
Favorite dinner: Any Indian food.
Favorite snack: Unsalted roasted almonds mixed with craisins and sometimes other dried fruit with walnuts
When my stomach is feeling sick, I like mangos to soothe it.

I've been pretty much eating carbs. Although almost everything sounds disgusting - except potatoes. With dd, everything sounded disgusting when I was hungry, so I'd eat some cheerios, and then with some food in my stomach, other stuff didn't seem disgusting anymore (except leftovers). This time, though, most things seem disgusting all the time. I have to make myself eat - and it's not easy.

I am practically forcing myself to eat bc my appetite has dwindled and everythiung that goes in my mouth right now just sits in my stomach taking up space making me feel gross....
I jsut ate a Wendy's jr. cheesburger, mustard only bc I really wanted a burger and tried to make one at home but the smell made me sick...Now half of it is just sitting in my stomach..
I am drinking way too much apple juice (no side effects yet...lmao) bc it's the oly thing that isn't making me sick....
FUN FUN....lol......

Ok. I was doing really well today- missed breakfast because a 6yo was sick in my bowl (don't ask- the things we do for our kids :rolleyes) and had some carrot sticks midmorning. Nothing bad happened. Ate a jacket potato with cheese, beans and mushrooms for lunch- felt a little queasy, but not too bad. Ate a slice of fruit toast, nothing bad happened.
THEN my husband came home from work. Offered me a tiny piece of chocolate, which I took, ate, and promptly started feeling sick to my stomach. Half an hour later, I tried a few grapes to see if that would settle my stomach. Big mistake. I've spent the last two hours bouncing backwards and forwards between the toilet and downstairs :sick What will I do if I can't eat chocolate any more??
My "thing" at the moment is yoghurt, btw. I've never been able to eat plain yoghurt before, but now I can get through gallons of the stuff. How weird is that?

I do pretty well most of the day, but breakfast is hard for me. Morning is when I'm the most nauseated. Usually I eat a whole-grain waffle with honey drizzled on it. The thing that tastes best to me right now is white grape juice mixed with sparkling water...guess that's not exactly filling is it? :)

I was REALLY struggling with morning sickness late last week & earlier this week. One thing that has helped is to set my alarm for about 3-4 hours before I normally get up and go eat 1/2 a toasted english muffin with peanutbutter. I then go back to sleep for the rest of the night. I swear I feel almost normal when I wake up!
Other than that I am eating Cedarlane burritos, chicken noodle soup (but I toss out the chicken bits), tomato soup, yogurt, pears, kiwis, triscuits, and edamame. Everything else, I eat it once and then I am done with it.
I've been craving a chocolate milkshake but I haven't let myself have one yet. I am saving it for my emergency food :lol

i'm hoping to join sept 07 due date club, but not officially yet.
when i was pg with number three i couldn't stand anything with carbohydrates in it. it was so hard to eat for the first 4-5 mo. i couldn't stand bread, pasta, rice, cookies, candy, NOTHING. i had a WHOPPER for the first time and eventually realized i could stomach those and french fires LOL. i wanted soda, but i couldn't stand it out of a can or bottle, it had to come from a fountian LOL. needless to say, i spent way too much time at mcdonalds and burger king during the first 4-5 mo of my pregnancy LOL.

I'm starting out eating pretty good...but I eat breakfast, a morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, supper, snack - you get the idea. :lol
My first pregnacy I ate (craved) a Steak Out cheeseburger everyday for lunch!!!! I gained 60 pounds with my first - was following the Bradley diet..eating LOTS of protein a day.
Second pregnancy I ate ok - gained 50 pounds (I think)...With both I ate a dessert after every meal!! Craved sweets!
We'll see how it goes this time...trying to eat and snack on healthy stuff!

I am having the same day-long nausea that I had with Dacey. Except back then, the only thing that sound good on a regular basis where McD's chicken nuggets. Now the thought of that makes me want to puke!
I am suddenly craving carb-rich veggies like butternut sqaush and sweet potatoes. YUM! I am not big on sweets right now which is very, very unusual for me. That was one of my first clues to take a HPT - normally when I am PMSing I live on chocolate. It doesn't even sound good right now! I am also trying to eat eggs, cheese, drink milk and eat lots of whole grains. I can't bear the thought of any meat - even poultry.

I'm doing so badly it's pathetic. I get evening sickness so as the day goes on things go downhill. Here's what I remember eating the past 24 hours:
breakfast: gluten-free organic cornflakes w/ freeze dried strwberries, DH's 2% milk, hot coca made with soy milk laced with cinnamon and nutmeg
that's the best meal I've eaten so far
snack: watered down grape juice
lunch: 2 rice cakes with a little peanut butter and a TON of strawberry jam (m/s won't let me eat peanut butter if I can see it so I hide it with jam), canned mandarin oranges
snack: watered down apple juice and the leftover soy milk cocoa that I noticed was still in my cup (big mistake...it all came back a few times and my daycare kids walked around pretending to have to throw up until their parents came to get them)
dinner: Newman's microwave popcorn
snack: Nerds candy and more popcorn
midle of night snack: GF cornflakes with freeze dried strawberries, DH's 2% milk (he bought whole milk for me but I just keep using the other bottle)
breakfast: all natural raspberry popcicle, iron absorption inhibiting black tea (justified by the fact I haven't eaten anything with iron in it so there's nothing to absorb anyway :lol ).
And I totally forgot my prenatal.:o
Today's lunch craving: french fries and KFC coleslaw

So I guess it's normal to be feeling kind of queasy and at the same time hungry? I eat and in what seems to be a very short while I'm already looking through the kitchen to see what else I can eat. Nothing in my kitchen looks appealing though, which sucks! Eating sweets seems to make me feel more queasy than if I stick to eating savory. I did just come back from buying myself some OREOS... yummy - but now I feel yucky.
Hummus (this baby is a total hummus baby!) is a tasty snack. Oh and I could eat Indian food every day for every meal. Unfortunately I don't know how to cook Indian so it has to be take away...
I read that pregnant women should avoid lunch meats, so what do you eat on your sandwich for lunch then? I have no imagination and I don't feel inspired at all. Just hungry.

I am not eating much of anything. I'm just not hungry. Plus when I do eat I feel so bloated.
I did the Brewer diet with DD. It helped me to avoid many pregnancy complaints. There were many times I was queazy and did not want to eat. I found if I ate a bite of something, waited, took another bite, waited I would soon be quite hungry and the queazy feeling was gone. I also noticed that a lot of foods would taste like cardboard. I had to search for the magic food that tasted good. It was usually something wholesome-except for the Frosty craving. I couldn't pass a Wendy's without stopping.
Right now I'm trying to make every bite count. Home cooked, whole foods. Leafy greens seem to be a great energizer-I'm so much more fatigued this time around (but that could be the insomnia/keeping up with a three year old combo :lol )
I went to the supermarket and stocked up on healthy snacks and meals that make tempting reheats. I hope that helps me to eat more. But maybe it's OK to follow what my body is telling me and just not eat a lot right now.

Anything, so far. Although as with my last pregnancy, the thought of those KFC Famous Bowls is making me slightly ill - I used to love them! :lol
Oh, and with DS's pregnancy, I craved McD's cheeseburgers and fries like none other! Must be something about the grease. :D

We haven't be able to go grocery shopping so I'm very limited in what's in my pantry. :(
Today I've had:
BFAST: Cheerios with a banana sliced in it
SNACK: All natural fruit popsicle
LUNCH: 2.5 egg salad sandwiches
SNACK: Apple
DINNER: 1 egg salad sandwich
I haven't been really in the mood to eat although I feel a bit hungry. I stand at my pantry door, staring at everything and keep shaking my head as I look at each item. Just everything seems so unappetizing. BLECH!
The only thing that I have been craving so far: Blue Frost Gatorade. And it is the only (best) thing that has kept any m/s at bay!
I read that pregnant women should avoid lunch meats, so what do you eat on your sandwich for lunch then? I have no imagination and I don't feel inspired at all. Just hungry.
Really? I had a cheese & luncheon meat (turkey) sandwich on a wheat bagel yesterday and the day before for lunch. :o

Some women completely avoid nitrates during pregnancy. If you are doing that, then don't eat lunch meat. The major health concern with lunch meat is the possible contamination with listeria (which can cause m/c). However, if you heat your meat to steaming before using it, it kills any listeria contaminants.

Thanks for the ideas. I can't say any of them are exactly appealing to me - and what is blue gatorade anyhow?- but it's good to know I'm not alone on the "give me McDonalds now!" thing. I had a KFC mini fillet burger for lunch yesterday, and that worked too. Maybe I just need to eat cardboard meat constantly for three months?
Anyone remember what the old wives tales on diet is? With Skye I was demanding Subway veggie delites with extra pickles and jalapenos. I haven't tried one, but the idea doesn't sound good.

i'm having aversions more than cravings -- i can't deal with lunch meat (same as my pg with dd) or chicken. i'm craving salmon and avacados. my menu has been a variation on
breakfast: coffee :bag: and yoghurt
lunch: a sandwich with hummus and avacado, macaroni cheese, or a bacon/spinach/avacado sandwich
dinner: lentils and salmon, or salmon burgers and fries :bag: or (cooked) sushi, indian (same craving as with dd but not nearly as bad), or (another :bag: )b/s/a sandwich
i'm also off chocolate (same as with last pg, though its happening earlier this time) and most sweets in general. i'm also craving mc donalds :bag: but breakfast -- a sausage mc muffin with egg and some hash browns with that horrible fake syrup! i haven't given in yet (mostly because its too cold to drag dd out merely for that) :lol
