The first one last night started about a 1/4 mile from my house!!!! We were hiding in the hall bath lol. My neighbors saw power flashes around the neighborhood(idiots, outside during a tornado!!) But we're ok, were without power about 2 hours or so, but it's up again :D Here's hoping for a tornado free day!!!

Oh my :bigeyes I watched (tv of course) as the storm went right by Yukon. I live on base here at Vance and from the wind measurements they believe one was out on the airfield. The Air Traffic Control Tower had its windows blown out. This is the closest I have ever been to a tornado and it :scared me terribly. My DD is 6 months old and I found out how strong this mothering instinct can become. We truly have enjoyed our time here, July will be 5 years. Just out of curiousity, do you have a storm shelter(AKA: Fraidy Hole!)?
I see in your sig. that you had a homebirth. Did you have a midwife? I don't know if we even have a midwife here in Enid. Hmmm...I had DD at the birthing center but my midwife is also a NP. It makes me wonder if our insurance would cover a homebirth. We had to fight to get them to cover the birthing center.
I agree, it is nice to see other Okies :toothy!

We just bought this house last year and it doesn't have a storm shelter, but we intend to put one in with next year's income tax return :LOL Our power went out just as the Tv said it was at 15th and Czech Hall Road(1 mile away), we were freaked, hid in the bathroom for a bit, then stumbled around finding candles and stuff *note to self, prepare tornado kit ASAP!!*
We had to pay out of pocket for the homebirth, but if you spread 1700 over an 8 month period, the payments were very affordable. My midwife actually wasn't from the OKC area, as we didnt' live here when I had dd, she is in Broken Arrow. She was awesome, and sooooo worth the $$. There are many midwives in the OKC area, and most that do homebirths would be willing to drive. My midwife had to drive over an hour for my homebirth(we paid 200 extra for that). I don't know if enid is closer to OKC or tulsa, but if it's tulsa, look up Scherrill Malone CPM, that's the midwife we used :D

Wow...nice to see other Oklahoma moms. I live in Medford (35 miles North of Enid) and luckily we have had a fairly calm storm season...only blown the tornado sirens twice this year so far. I will be so glad when spring is over (I worry over it every year) and the worst of the storms is over, I am a life long Okie and you would think I would be used to the storms by now..but I just hate the bad weather. Hope you all stay safe!
