I miscarried at 9w, three weeks ago. My dr is satisfied that my HcG levels are dropping significantly, or were at my last blood test a week ago. But most of my pregnancy symptoms never went away (dizziness, heightened sense of smell) and yesterday came back with a vengence, adding to the list nausea and that "heaviness" I felt when I was first pregnant last time. Is this normal as you near your period after a miscarriage, or can I keep hoping?

That's a tough one. Have you thought about getting more blood work done? I know that a month after my tubal pregnancy, I still had some pregnancy symptoms that made me wonder, even though my HCG levels were back to normal. I would probably keep hoping (how can you help it, right? :) ) until you have more information.
Hugs to you,
Katherine

I miscarried at 6 weeks in August 2001. It was hard and painful. My doctor told me to allow my body to rest and readjust to a normal cycle and we could start trying to get pregnant again in 3 months. It turned out that I had a big trip planned at the end of August and left for Europe with my mom for two and a half weeks only three days after my miscarriage was confirmed by my doctor. With out going into graphic detail, my dh and I’s enthusiasm in being reunited after my long trip caused us to throw caution to the wind and skip the trip to the drug store for birth control. Besides, there was no way I could get pregnant. I had just miscarried a little over three weeks earlier. Well much to my and dh’s surprise (and my doctor’s, who kept telling me that this conception was not possible) I did get pregnant! And in June of 2002 gave birth to a perfectly healthy boy.
So maybe a trip to buy a pregnancy test is in order. The human body has an amazing ability to heal and an even more amazing will to reproduce!

Thanks for your replies! You are right that I can't help hoping, I have wanted this for so long! And it's nice to hear that healthy babies can come from conception right after miscarriage- what a happy ending! :) I'm going to wait til this weekend to test, then maybe call the doctor whether or not it says yes, just to be sure. Thanks ladies!

I took 7 weeks after my m/c for my symptoms to go away and I m/c at 7 or 8 weeks. It was horrible. I was about to puke my guts up every 30 seconds.....but I tested again and it was a negative.
Just a word of caution....hpt's can give a false positive up to 6 weeks after loss. I wouldn't want you to test and get your hopes up from a false positive. BUt it could be! There are plenty of women around who got pg very soon after loss! I even know a lady where she got pg 3 weeks after giving birth! She is now pg with her 8th baby....her youngest too will be 10 months apart!
Can you imagine going to your 6 week post partum visit and your dr say...umm....your pg again!!
Anyway, I wish you the best!!

I got more bloodwork done, and my hcg levels are still dropping. I think a few days ago I was at 7. Disappointing, but at the same time maybe better for my body- it can have more time to rest before another pregnancy. Thanks for all your support!
