2nd pregnancy - early "poppage" or twins?

Any 2nd time moms or moms with twins - when did your belly pop out with your pregnancies?

I am 7 weeks pregnant with #2 and it is already very obvious. I think I was 3 or 4 months before it was obvious with my first pregnancy.

Twins run in my family - my brothers are twins and my paternal grandmother had a twin pregnancy.

Geez, at 10 weeks my OB did an u/s to rule out twins. So yeah, it's been out there for a while now!!

Oh, and there's only one in there!!

My friend is pregnant with #3 and popped instantly - we all thought 1) she was way off with her due date, or 2) she was having twins... But nope, an early u/s confirmed her date and that there was only one in there!

Do you have a short torso? My friend is fairly petite and so that's why I'm guess she showed really early this time.

I am pregnant with twins, and had a bit of a belly by 10 weeks. In previous pregnancies, I haven't really shown until 4 or 5 months in. So...

As far as genetics goes, your maternal line affects your likelihood of twins, and only fraternal/dizygotic twins are hereditary (identical/monozygotic are more of a fluke/mutation and thus do not increase your likelihood of having twins from what I've read). So, are your brothers fraternal or identical?

I'm pregnant with what I assume is a singleton. :lol I have popped and I'm not yet ten weeks. You pop earlier with subsequent pregnancies since all of your tissue and muscle has the btdt memory from before. :)

With my first pg I measured big early--my Dr suspected twins b/c I was measuring about 8 weeks big----but it was just one baby.

With my second I really didnt get big as fast as I thought I would---only a few weeks earlier into maternity clothes.

I didn't show with my first until 6 months. But with #2 and 3 I got big very fast. I was showing by about 8 weeks. I always seemed to measure right on dates though even though I LOOKED big. I was underweight at the start of each pg though so everything had nowhere to go but out :lol This time I am measuring big, I can feel the top of my fundus right at my belly button and I am just 14 weeks. I assume it is just a 4th time thing :)

Thanks for all your replies. I'm assuming this is just a 2nd time pregnancy, earlier showing belly thing.

My brothers are fraternal per the doc (something about separate placentas and amniotic sacs), though when they were younger they looked exactly alike.
