Hello! I have been living in Duluth/Superior for a few years and am looking for any tips on meeting like-minded AP parents. I tried Early Childhood Ed. but found my parenting style did not match any of the parents in several groups (not one breastfeeding mother!). I would love to meet some friends who don't look at me like I'm nuts for my parenting techniques-anybody out there? I am a Public Health nurse outside the home, husband is a SAHD, son Aidan is 11 months old.

Hi! I live in Superior, and I haven't had a whole lot of luck finding other AP moms either. The best place to look is LLL meetings. That's about the only place I feel completely comfortable to express my parenting views. I've been involved in two ECFE groups, and although one of them included ALL breastfeeding mothers (except one), most people look at me funny when I say we co-sleep, and I'm surprised how many think CIO is a good idea. Sorry I'm not more help... hopefully someone else will have some good ideas for both of us!

Hey mama's!! I'm in Duluth too! :D I didn't think there were any AP people around here. ;) I've got a 6 year old dd Kaitlyn, a 2 year old ds Logan and a 3 1/2 month old dd Christine. I'd LOVE :love to meet up with other AP'ers!!

I'm so happy to hear from you both! I went to my first LLL meeting today & met some pretty like-minded people-do any of you go to the meetings? We should get together for a hike or day at the beach or something now that the weather is nice(r). It was nice to talk with young parents at the meeting today about parenting & not getting put down for listening to my baby. :p

Hey, sorry I missed you at the meeting. I usually go, but they coincide with aforementioned ECFE sessions, and the last one of those for the spring was today, so I felt obligated to go. Yes, a hike or something would be nice. Dh and I are starting to shop for a backpack carrier, but until then it's the stroller, so we're limited to sidewalks or good trails. We live very close to a park, too... there are plenty of those around. PM me, okay?

ack! I had wanted to go to the LLL meeting but my first time there 2 years ago was not a good experience. :( Did you go to the am or pm meeting? I didn't want to go alone Thursday so I asked my very pregnant sister to come with me but she bailed out on me early in the morning so I didn't go. Bummer, now I wish I had gone.
We should all meet up...I'll pm you both if ya don't mind!

I know I know you smittenmom! Aidansmomma, I would probably know you by sight. I rarely miss the a.m. LLL meetings. DD and I live in Two Harbors and if anyone is planning any get-togethers in the Duluth/Superior area we'd looove to come! LLL is nice but it does have a rather limiting agenda, plus the time constraints.

i grew up there...does that count ;)
my folks still live in duluth, and i would love to meet up with you all the next time we are up there. and, if any of you are down in the twin cities, there are LOTS of ap mamas around!
hi there....i think i recognize most of you from LLL meetings. My husband Erik and I have a dd who is 9 months - she is in daycare in the mornings, so I haven't been to LLL in quite some time. For whatever reason the evening meeting is always so darn small - not as many nice moms and babies.
We have been quite crazy lately -- lots of traveling - Leigh I got your phone message two weeks ago, just was out of town!
edited to add: I can't believe how much hair Scout has!! I first saw her in, umm, winter sometime (Jan maybe?) when we met for LLL in that little side room.
