Hi Alyssa~
I have never even heard of Farmington:eek
I live in Manchester.

Farmington is sort of in the middle of nowhere. It is about 10 min north of Rochester. 20 min north of Dover. 40 min north of Portsmouth. We are only about 10 min drive from Lake Winn. About an hour and a half from Manchester. We had our childbirth classes there and what a pain to drive!

Hi Alyssa! I'm in Dover and would love to visit sometime! We could meet at a park in Rochester and it'd be midway for both of us. My son is 19 mos and very busy though! Contained areas are good! :)

Alyssa, I remember meeting you at a LLL meeting in Dover. My name is Dayna, and I was at a meeting with my 2 kids when you were pregnant. Weren't you one of Betsy's Bradley Students??
If you don't remember me, don't sweat it. :)
I would love to get together sometime. I live in Madison, just under an hour from Rochester.
I'd love to meet another like-minded mommy, we are few and far between!

Danya-
I actually don't remember meeting you sorry! But I would love to get together some time. I am so overwhelmed by Moms groups in the area where everyone is into bottle feeding, cribs, etc. Email me when you have some free time.:thumb

hi alyssa,
i live in north hampton (just south of portsmouth). a little far but i'd love to get together sometime. i'm mom to 3yo ds & 5 week old dd. i sort of live on the fence btw mainstream vs. ap, mostly
'cause my mom friends in this area are very mainstream, but also very nice people who i don't want to reject entirely based on our different philosophies. it's tough though, to really connect w/people who are so different. one of them told me recently that i'll "do things right" w/my 2nd child & that she " had no idea what to do the 1st time around either" ( regarding my co-sleeping, nurse-on-demand, in-arms way of parenting).
my time is limited at the moment (dh has 3yo out for a run in the jogger and dd is snoozing but the laundry is oozing out the windows...). email me if you'd like! davebednarek@yahoo.com (shared w/dh)

Thanks so much for your email! I think I may have emailed you privately but my email has been really screwy lately so I am not sure. Anyway I would love to get together sometime. I babysit some days but I am pretty free. When things calm down a little drop me an email. I am more than happy to travel to you. Take care and I hope your little one is doing well!

Hi Alyssa - We live in Strafford - I may be the closest to you yet. . . I'm glad you started this little thread b/c it is nice to see there are other mamas around nearby.
Dandilioncrown, did you join the March mamas thread? Our new bean's edd is 3/12/04! I've been getting lots of good vibes from the other March mamas!
Lukemom - I think I am a lot like you; on the fence between mainstream and earthmom. I work full time outside of the house and am the primary breadwinner. This necessitates certain decisions and priorities, though my dd is still bfing some (my supply is dwindling since I got pg), co-slept for 8 months, was fed on demand and always snuggled. Our life works for us - it's not a one size fits all world, as I sense you can attest.
Though time is limited, I am open to meeting any of the local mamas!

fiacre, yes, i think we are similar. good to know i'm not alone.
anyway, i'm thinking of hosting a get-together. i know i could benefit by forming relationships w/people that i could feel comfortable inviting over when my house isn't clean (which is almost always). not-so-sparkly houses are pretty much part of the ap package, right??? alyssa, you're available weekdays? fiacre, are weekends better for you? anyone else interested?

I'm in Dover, and we just looked at a house on Whig Hill Rd in Strafford this past weekend (very nice, but we're not making an offer). I'd love to live in Strafford.
I'm around most days except Fridays (playgroup with all my sorta/non-AP friends).
Oh, my house is embarrassingly messy all the time too. IT comes with the territory!
Yep, I'm due mid march sometime (around st patty's day!). It still doesn't seem real!

yes, weekends are my only free time. I agree with all of you that the messy house is part of the package. We actually just got a puppy on top of our dog and two cats so the mess factor has gone up even higher (hard to believe). I used to be sooooo meticulous, but hey. I have so little time at home as it is, I don't want to spend it all cleaning!!
Dandilioncrown - when we were looking for houses here, we also checked a couple in whig hill; it'd a nice development though with privacy. Ultimately we settled on an old country farmhouse with land and it's been perfect for us. Plenty of room to grow into. We previously live in Durham and at first I was reluctant to leave the seacoast, but when I saw how much farther our homebuying dollar would go out here, it was a lot easier to see myself out here. Plus I work in Concord, so being closer has helped with my commute. Now that I have been here over a year, I can't think of any place I'd rather be! So keep looking in Strafford!! My one 'luxury' is a woman's book club in town, the Bow Lake Ladies Book Club - it's basically a bunch of cool women who like to get together once a month, eat great food, drink some wine, discuss a book and life. No wine for me for awhile, though!!
Anyway, keep me updated about a possible get together!!

Hi everyone - I live in Alton Bay, and gave birth a month ago to a baby boy named Perrin. We have a great little organic farm up here in the mountains. I don't know many mothers in this area, since I spent so much time at work (UNH) until recently.

Hi! We looked at a house on Whig Hill about a year ago... it's up the big hill (well, it's all hilly) on the right with a big pond in front and a big detached garage. We loved the neighborhood, the amount of acreage, and the short walk to bow lake. The house didn't meet our needs, but we liked the area (except the commute to anywhere, lol.. maybe if DH gets a job in Concord we'll look again). Nice to 'meet' you! I've heard there will be an AP playgroup happening at Roger Allen Park on Chestnut Hill in Rochester, but not sure when that'll happen. SOme of the local LLLI girls will attend, I'm sure. I'll keep you posted! :love

We would like to invite you to join us and Groups all over the world to celebrate the 50th anniversary of La Leche League! On July 29th 2006 we will be holding a walk through downtown Dover to commemorate this important milestone and World Breastfeeding Week.
As a cruncy mother we know that you understand the importance of La Leche League in our community. We are dedicated to providing up to date information, encouragement and support to women who wish to breastfeed their babies. With this walk we hope to increase breastfeeding awareness in the community, raise money for our local Group and La Leche League International and to bring together local breastfeeding families and supporters.
Our World Breastfeeding Week Walk will begin at 10 am in Henry Law Park in Dover, NH. We will walk 1.5 miles through downtown Dover and loop back to Henry Law Park. After the walk there will be a picnic lunch in the park where families can reconnect with old friends and forge new friendships. There will be children's activities and a yard sale running throughout the day.
Walkers can register online for the event at http://www.seacoastnhlll.org/worldwalk.html or by calling 603-859-0447. We would love to see a large outpouring of support for mothers and babies in our community- please join us and bring your family along!
As an incentive each walker will be receive a tote bag and be entered into a raffle for some wonderful gift certificates donated by local business. Each walker will also receive an additional raffle ticket for every $25 worth of pledges that they collect for the walk. We will also reward the peron who bring in the most pledges and the person who brings in the most money with special prizes.
If you are unable to attend the event please consider sponsoring a walker or making a small donation to the celebration. Donation forms can be found on our website.
With your support we can continue to provide assistance, encouragement and information to mothers in our community. Register today- the first ten registrants will receive a special bonus thank you gift! Thank you and we hope to see you on July 29th!

As small as NH is, we all seem to be very spread out! I live in South of Keene, really close to the Mass border. Anybody from SW NH? I would love to meet some other cruchy mamas!
