Hi, my little girl (1 year this week) has a fever (39.5) for the last 24 hours. She's been a bit off for a couple weeks, eating little more than bananas (if you saw my earlier post:p ) but the fever just arrived yesterday morning. She slept ok last night but is really weak, clingy and weepy in the day. She is awaiting her 2 top teeth and rubs her lips and tongue over them alot so I'm assuming its teething. Should I be worried?
My kids have had fevers around teething too. It could be something else too, but usually fevers are just a healthy way for the body to work through whatever.

I couldn't change the Celcius to Fahrenheit, so I'm not sure how high your child's fever was, but my children ran temperatures when the teeth broke through. I'd be careful, though, if the fever gets over 100.4 or so (Fahrenheit). It might not be just the teething then. But I found with my ittle ones that fever from teething alone didn't make them ack really sick, even though they were obviously uncomfortable.
Good luck--and remember, teething eventually ends!

Definetly sounds like teething.
But a word of caution.. teething also is a known to cause Ear Infections.
So if baby seems to be tugging or really off balance. Have a DR check it out.

PS. Hyland's teething tablets/gel is awesome for teething!

Hi, thanks to all. Just to translate! She went up as high as 104!!! I gave in and gave her some baby paracetamol but it started going down by the next morning and is gone now. She is still irratible, clingly and has drastically changed her eating habits which started before the fever as well so thats why I think its teething. I've got the amber necklace, highland tablets and a prescribed homeopathic treatment, none of which seem to do much for her:crying
We'll just keep on trying things:) Happy to have survived our first fever as scary as it was!!!

We're going through exactly the same thing now!
For the past two days Jordy has had a fever about 100,4F..she's happy and cheerful though, eats more than usual and I noticed two swollen bump on her lower gums.
I gave her Tylenol to bring the fever down.
I agree to make sure babe is not congested or doesn't tug on her ear.
It's not that teething might cause ear infection - it's just plenty of times EI is mistaken for teething.
Good luck!Maggie
BTW - I am so excited about her teeth coming! She'll be almost 8 months and nothing there yet!
