we had a homebirth with DS with a CPM, but she had a "back up" doctor. this time around she does not have one. the doctor left the practice she was in to spend time with her fam. well, i'm not worried about any medical parts, but before any tests or US we opted for were covered because there was someone to write scripts. this time it's not covered. so it will be out of pocket. i was just wondering if anyone has found this prob. and if you figured anyway to deal with it, or get around it. i'm still a patient at the practice the back up doc. was with. they are our family doctors. would it ask of them too much to go thru them for scripts??? would it be odd to ask them??

I'm unclear as to whether you have medical insurance or not. I did but my mw wasn't covered. I established care with a dr to get necessary tests and rxs without saying anything about homebirth until I was ready to terminate care (just didn't feel like arguing with the dr through the whole pregnancy). My tests were paid for by insurance, thus saving us a lot of money. Just one way to get around the system.

So no reason you can't just go back to the family dr that you have been using. I would just keep quiet about the mw until you get all of the necessary tests out of the way.
