Okay, this started with me about week 25 of my pregnancy (I am at 31 weeks now) Basically I get a really nasty burning sensation on the top of my stomach right below my bust line. There is no rash, it just hurts, like a permanent sunburn on the top of my stomach. I called my Dr. and she said it was something to do with the nerves and to use Icy Hot to relieve the pain. Now, the icy hot works, but only for so long and then the pain comes back, and I would really rather avoid having to use it as much as I can. Right now I am using it at least once a day.

Does anyone else have experience with this? I have tried everything under the sun to make my skin feel better and nothing works...I have tried cocoa butter, baby oil, baby lotion, sunburn cooling spray, and even tea tree oil (which actually worked but the smell....:crap ) I just want this to go away so I can enjoy the rest of my pregnancy. I can't even sit for long periods of time because of the pain nor can I wear a bra because of where it hits me on my stomach. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is it your skin, or is it below your skin?

As my baby/uterus started getting bigger, it started pushing up against my ribs. The sensation is somewhat like the tissue below my ribs is falling asleep. At first it would go away if I stood or sat up really straight. Now that I am really big, sometimes I have to arch my back to move my ribs up.

I mentioned it to my mw, who said that it is perfectly normal, but also not much you can do about it other than change positions. Maybe this is what you have going on?

Are you drinking lots of water? Sometimes skin can get itchy/burning when we are not excreting through our kidneys all of the "stuff" we need to.

What about aloe? Fresh from the plant or the stuff that comes in a jar at health food stores.

Well, I have been drinking plenty of water...usually 2 32 oz cups a day, and I still have the sensation. It is in my skin....like a pins and needles feeling but also with the feeling like it is a sunburn and it does not go away. No matter what position I am in it is always there.

I was hoping that someone out there could help because it is getting very frustrating now and I really don't like smelling like a medicine cabinet (from the icy hot)....:irked: Even my dogs steer clear of me when I have the icy hot on...

Thanks anyway, I'll look into the aloe and see if that helps.

I had that skin pain exactly as you describe it last pregnancy, I don't think I'm far enough along to get it yet this one. Nothing helped me sorry :(
