View Full Version : Natural Pregnancy Book Recommendations?
Baby Makes 4

I am pregnant with my third child so I know how the whole pregnancy thing works but i still love to read those week-by-week books.
I am looking for one that will suggest natural remedies and isn't too alarmist about things like sushi and god forbid maybe drinking a cup of coffee now and then.
A homebirth or natural birth focus would be great too.
I already own Ina May's Guide to Childbirth and the Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, I am looking for more of a "this is what your fetus is doing now" kind of book but not one that is meant to scare me or send me running to the doctor for drugs and tests.
Is all that too much to ask? Any suggestions?

I think I am going to order the Sears book plus a few otehr books that are listed under natural pregnancy on Chapters.ca.
I can always return the ones I don't want to the store.
I am looking for a book that will give me ways to prepare for labour that don't include filling out my epidural release form. :wink

So I ordered:
The Pregnancy Book - Dr. Sears
Pregnancy The Natural Way
A Child Is Born: A Natural Guide To Pregnancy, Birth & Early Childhood
I plan on checking them out and returning 2 of them, I'll let you know what I think.

Birthing From Within - I am DEVOURING it right now! This will be my 3rd birth...and I have realized that nothing I read before (or classes took) really prepared me for labor as much as this book has! SO good!!!

my "pregnancy bible" recommendation is Great Expectations: Your All-in-One Resource for Pregnancy and Childbirth. It has a great week-by-week mama/baby development guide and it takes a pretty sensible approach to pregnancy and birth.
I would have a copy of the Wise Woman Herbal for the Childbearing for good natural remedies during pregnancy. It's a slim book and easy to reference.
I have a (glowing, lol) review up for both books: http://www.naturalbirthandbabycare.com/book-reviews.html
I agree with the pp suggestions too! There are so many pregnancy books out there it's hard to choose!

Butting in here -- I was also recommended this book, and had it on my wish list at Amazon.ca. It was supposedly an updated version to be released April 2007 and I was waiting to buy it - but now it is listed as unavailable and only the 1998 edition is there. Anyone have any idea what that's about? Should I just go ahead and get the older version?
