I live in Hawaii and am looking for other like-minded mommies here! I have a 7 month old DD and she is my favorite girl!

This is my first post on this site, but I'd say I fit that bill!
I've lived in Honolulu for about 2 years now, have been married for almost 8, and have a 3 1/2 month old son.

Hey Angie,
Nice to meet you! I live on Maui with my DH and DD, and a cat, too. We've been here about 2 years as well. We are enjoying Maui a lot. We came over for the warm climate and to get away from the crowds. How do you like Honolulu and what brought you there?

Hi again!
Well, we came here because my husband's in the military. I wish it were quiet and away from the crowds here, but Honolulu is so metropolitan! I'm from Wyoming originally so I really am not used to this sort of metro-lifestyle.
I do love the heck out of Hawaii though! It figures that we are on different islands; I'm so frustrated trying to find people to commiserate with! Everyone looks at me like I'm a fruit. It's easy enough to just not discuss religion (or lack thereof?) but much harder to steer the conversation away from your parenting methods when everyone is throwing around a copy of Baby Wise and talking about the great ideas in it...
Have you joined a baby hui? I'm in a group right now. A bit too mainstream for me to feel totally comfortable in but it's a good way to meet people. I'm pretty sure it's on all the islands.

Hey Angie!
Too bad we are on different islands. I haven't joined a baby hui - I'm not even sure what that is! A group for moms and babies? Please explain. What about it is too mainstream?
Wyoming is a far cry from Honolulu! I think I'd prefer Wyoming. I guess most people in the military end up in Honolulu, but do any go to the other islands? Are you here for a specific length of time? I'm not sure how it works. . .
We came from Los Angeles, so this is heaven to us. We are originally from the midwest. We live on 2 acres with fruit trees, palm trees and and room to run on about an acre of grass. Sometimes I wish it was more like 10 acres, but this is a good start. We have a view of the ocean and the most amazing rainbows pop up quite a lot. It is beautiful here. What do you love about Hawaii?
I'm not interested in Baby Wise, either. The guy who wrote it sounds like a kook. I like having my daughter sleep with me and she nurses whenever she wants. We just kind of go with the flow over here - doing what works best for us. How's it going with your little guy? :)
