Yeah! So happy to find this forum :) I am due early October with third preg. (have a 4 year old and miscarried at 16 weeks with 2nd in July '06). I never ever fathomed having my babies anywhere but home until my last loss...where my uterus was infected by Strep B and we lost our baby girl and I nearly died due to sepsis. So, now I am told that once strep B always so and I must be on antibiotics for entire labor which means being high-risk. I feel deeply sad and unsure about being anywhere but home. Anyone else with such an experience?

To my knowledge Group B comes and goes. Maybe you can post about it and see what others can tell you. That's why you are tested with every pregnancy. Oh yea, you can also be positive and test negative a couple weeks later.

Plans: This is my 6th pregnancy. I use a midwife (2 actually that work together) and am planning a waterbirth in a hospital. (I birth in the hospital because I have Epilepsy which can be deadly to mama or baby.) We use a hospital that is 45 minutes from our home (there are lots near us), because they respect us as informed parents and support our midwives. We basically use the room and no one is allowed in. They have gigantic birthtubs that are in the birthing suite, room for family, totally private and awesome. No one comes in unless I say, lights off, just my midwife and family, I'm excited for another birth.

My 5 yo cut the cord with our last baby. Hope to do that again, it was so fun!

The schedule says the kid is due on the 13th of Oct; my guess is #3 will come out a few days before as his older sisters did.

I had the 1st one 'naturally' at a local hospital; 2nd one in a bathtub at a birthcenter (water birth) and am contemplating if i want the 3rd here at home or at the birthcenter (aren't options great?!).

In my mind, the worst part about birth of #1 was the drive to the hospital: overly sensitive to noise and movement, i had to pull a hat and scarf over my eyes and ears to help mute out the road construction that lay most of our way to the hospital.

In actuality, the worst part of the birth of #1 was a huge tear that ultimately resulted in 7 'labiaplasties' - reconstructive surgeries - a tear that could have been prevented if my OB was paying attention to me instead of the hospital paperwork. Bygones.

The last surgery i had - about a year and a half post delivery of #2 - resulted in the removal of a labia, but the creation of some wicked-sore scar tissue. i've talked with the midwives about novicaining the sore scar tissue area for the birth of #3, but in reality will not know what will happen until the time comes. right now i'm telling myself that it will be 15 minutes of agony (the crowning and full delivery) for an amazing reward. i think i can, i think i can... choo chooo. :blah

I had a birth center birth with my daughter. It was unmedicated, ALMOST without any interventions.... We ended up having my membranes ruptured after about 34 hours of consistent labor, and that pushed me into transition - I gave birth less than 2 hours later.

I labored for so long at home that we decided to just do it all at home this time 'round. I think I'll be more comfortable and happier overall, even though the center was very nice.

We found the most chilled out midwife we could locally for this birth, as I want as close to a UC as possible, but hubby isn't quite ready for that. ;)

And, while I'm interested in a water birth, I don't know if I'll be in labor long enough to get the tub ready. Every other woman in my family has a long, arduous first labor and VERY speedy subsequent labors.... so I just decided to wing it without water. *laugh*
