It seems there are moms that can't wait to start wearing maternity clothes because they're so excited about the pregnancy! :love
I am just as excited, but I can wait to switch my closet out. :irked: With my first I didn't need maternity clothes until month 7. Month 5 with my others. I don't think I'll be so lucky this time. The baby is just a bean at this point, so it's not like I'll be getting big anytime soon, but gosh, bloating. I've never bloated like this before.
Anyone else bloated? I hope it goes down. I'm keeping my reg. clothes!!

I'm not excited. as much as I'm excited to shop for them, I'm not excited to start wearing them especially because I don't want to tell my family until we know what we're having. I popped out really fast with my second but stayed that way, with a little belly until 27 weeks, then I really got big. I told my family I have been getting my belly back anyway so hopefully they won't suspect (we told them we weren't starting until this Dec :)

"Not starting until Dec"... LOL! :lol Suuuurprise!!! :D
We've only told our parents. I haven't even told my siblings yet or any of my other family. I actually told a friend before I told my family, :lol
I'd like to wait until we find out the gender, too! Can't wait! :love

I've told all my internet friends and 2 rl friends but I swore them to secrecy :) I'll be 20 weeks for my birthday, so that's a good present to my family :) I figure I'll get a shirt for my younger to tell them all :) we'll have a big party for me.
for some reason I wanted to wait to tell them. so far so good. i was on the phone with my mom earlier and I didn't say anything about it. I'd at least like to hear the heartbeat, which I believe will be the beginning of April, 12 weeks :) We'll see if I can last!

i wish I could avoid maternity clothes. With my 3rd, I was in them at 9 weeks. This time I wont be able to wear anything else by the end of next week.
With your third and subsequent, its not bloating, its your muscles having relaxed. My money is on the fact taht your belly will not go down, sorry to say!

I'm just buying some nice wraparound skirts and hope that works the whole way through, and I can still wear them postpartum.
These are really good quality. Have 2, just ordered 3 more:

Alicia! I love Tznius! I'll have to check those skirts out. I just ordered a couple skirts from Shukr (http://shukronline.com/womens-skirts.html) that were on sale for just $24 (usually over $50) and I'm going to maternitize them, lol! :wink
Are you in the Headwrap Mamas (http://www.mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?t=584866) tribe?
Sorry!! :topic

Thanks for the links. I really like the drape on some of those skirts.

I was hoping to stay out of maternity clothes for as long as possible, but that is looking like it's not going to be too long from now. I felt the round ligament pain, and I'm already having trouble buttoning up my pants, but I've only gained 1 lb! We're moving on the 15th and will be driving for about a week to get to San Diego, and I insisted that we bring some of my maternity clothes with, just in case. I went from a size 12 to a size 16 pants this week!

I was planning on living in yoga pants for as long as possible but I had to wear a pair of maternity jeans to dinner last night.

So far my pants are fitting ok.....until I sit down. Then they are so tight I have to unbutton them. Not the best look. Im hoping to stay in reg. clothes until my appointment on the 13th of March. By that point we should be ready to tell people.

I have my first "done up with an elastic" pants on today -- but they were getting tight anyway, from all the holiday treats :) It's just that I don't want to stuff myself in them anymore now that there's someone in there.
I am hoping not to have to get out the mat clothes just yet because I don't plan to tell work until 12 weeks. So I'm hoping that "you get bigger faster the 2nd time" isn't always true...The thing is, because I was planning to get pg, I didn't buy any new clothes this year (and haven't for years because I was either planning to be pg., or I was off work) -- so I am so sick of my clothes and desperate for something new, that mat clothes will be a welcome change!
That said, I'm kinda paranoid, I don't want to get out the box and wash the clothes, or shop for anything new (except one of those bella bands, have to get one of those) until I'm further along...Does that make me weird?

Holding off as long as I can! Lucky I have sweak pants and fat jeans. Those muscles are relaxing all over the place so it sould be an adventure. I didn't think I would have another and I got rid of EVERYTHING! So, I need to start again. That should be interesting.

I'm dreading wearing maternity clothes again. The same 3 boring tops, one pair of black trousers and a pair of jeans that I have worn for every pregnancy. They're all so boring. And there's only so many combinations you can wear them in.
I don't have a lot of money, so I had a quick look around ebay for some more things to wear. But nothing really jumped out at me. It was all just random things and i don't really know what I want to wear. Plus they're not all that cheap for second hand clothes, by the time you've added the postage costs. I have some maternity patterns, but they're all kind of frumpy. Vogue has a nice one, but it uses stretch knits, and they are kind of hard to find locally.
I need to find something more to wear or I will go mad! Usually I don't wear maternity stuff till 5 or 6 months, but today I have put on my too big pair of jeans and found I had to unbutton them! I don't feel like I look pregnant. Just plump.

Have you checked out freecycle in your area?

I wish there were more consignment shops that carried maternity. I guess most people pass them on or wear them out. But I would love to find a maternity section in a consignment shop!!

I don't know, I'm really small. I am a belly dancer and I use those muscles rigorously daily (except when I'm preg. :lol :wink ) So my stomach goes back within days of having my babies.
But this time, sheesh. Maybe you're right. I haven't worn maternity clothes until loooong into my pregnancies. This time I am already having trouble closing my pants. It was all fine until this week and all of a sudden one day...bloat, relaxed, whatever...something happened and it isn't the baby this soon! :irked:
Oh well, it's worth it! :love

I am excited b/c my mil is going to take me shopping for some new stuff in the spring...they have some cute stuff out now. For now my more fitted jeans are way to uncomfortable to consider wearing. I want to wear yoga pants every day but they just aren't warm enough. I wish I had a pair of fleece yoga style pants....they would be perfect!
I didn't show until well into my 6 month with ds and I am curious what will happen with the second.

well, I'm excited to get into my maternity clothes again just because I have a really awesome maternity wardrobe. when I went through it to loan out some of it to a friend I was like "damn, these clothes are nice! I miss them!"
but I really can't imagine needing them for a while. since I gained so much weight (65 pds) with my first pregnancy, it took a while to come off. I have jeans in a few sizes up.

Thorn...where's your fav place to find stuff? I need to improve my maternity wardrobe, then maybe I'd be more excited about it. Right now I haven't even pulled the boxes out yet. I've never ever shown this soon. I think it must just be bloating.

I have gained 7 lbs but everything fits just fine, just a little tighter in the bum
I should be able to stay out for about 14-16 weeks hopefully
Actually, I am having dh bring up the trunk with the maternity clothes this weekend. Between what I am sure is a ton of weight gain and the bloating from the fertility drugs, I am well out of all my regular clothes.
Sarah0404, have you tried Goodwill for maternity clothes? I found some really nice stuff there last time - one dress from Motherhood maternity that I think I paid six dollars for and wore a ton, and a couple pair of shorts that were only two or three dollars each. I also checked out every thrift store I passed to see if they had a maternity rack. I scored some nice inexpensive clothes that way.

I went to Gap today and got 3 pairs of pants and 2 t-shirts off the clearance rack for $32.00.

pregnancy clothes are going to be one of my biggest drags. Last time around I had a very laid back job and just wore sweatpants and tshirts. I had a couple cute outfits for going out and that was that.
This time around I'll be having to dress up for work. I JUST got the job last week, and my closet is very "mommish" so I need to buy work clothes now, and then later. :irked: that's double the expense.

I pulled out one maternity item as I'm already poochy. My jeans had been fitting "just right". Then I washed them and I'm not even going to try and stretch them out now that I'm pg. So I pulled out a pair of maternity cargos a friend gave me. Those should last me a couple of weeks.
I'm going to have a hard time this time because everything from my last two pg's will be too big. I lost a lot of weight last year. A friend of mine gave me a TON of clothes but she was due in April and of course the seasons won't match up with how big I am. So we'll see. I'm a pretty simple gal though. I won't have to buy much. Dreading summer though. I'm going to miserable!!

I'm dying over here with bloating.. Thought I was almost 10 weeks pregnant until yesterday... realized I was only 6 weeks 5 days.. and now I'm feeling even more bloated... Im huge!!
The worst part about wearing maternity clothes now is that people are like "when are you due?" and they look at you with the strangest face when you tell them the truth... Ugh.. I just wanna yell at them "I'M PREGNANT AND HORMONAL AND BLOATED... SO BACK OFF!!!!"
But I dont. :)

well i can't wait to wear maternity clothes again. I found great stuff when I was expecting my last, at an online place called Coming Soon Maternity. (the site is http://www.csmaternity.com it think?) It's a little high end though.
