View Full Version : Is anyone having symptoms yet? (TMI)

I know it's early, only 4w1d here but is it TOO early to have symptoms? Sorry for TMI but my stomach seems to turn everything to liquid. :o I thought pregnancy caused constipation, not diarrhea! Is this normal? I'm craving and eating a lot of avocado - maybe that has something to do with the way my stomach is behaving? My breasts are also huge and sore but that makes sense. :lol

I think everyone's body handles pregnancy differently. I'm about 6 weeks and I just noticed that I started having the bizarre food symptoms, like, 2 hours ago. :lol I made this huge pot of beans with ham hocks & sausage and on any other day I would be eating bowls full with glee. Today it's like I'm stirring a giant tub of vomit and I can barely be near it. :gloomy: The same thing happened to me last time during the first trimester--all food seemed completely disgusting. :(

I was lucky not to get too sick the first time around or really have many symptoms at all, and so far so good this time too. With me it is mainly bone-crushing fatigue. I tested positive on Tuesday, and by Thursday it set in with a vengeance. I have been SOOOO tired. I slept almost all day Saturday while DH was home to take care of DD. I WOH too, so I don't see how I am going to get through the first trimester with a toddler being exhausted all the time like this.
OTOH, since I am still BFing my 25-month-old, I am very happy that my boobs don't hurt. I was really worried about that.

I have noticed my hips hurting when I'm laying in bed, thats what made me take a test cause I haven't felt that since I was preggers before. No soreness in my breast and I am still breastfeeding my 13 month old. I had extreem morning sickness with my first one so I'm sure that will start in 2 weeks. I ended up weighing less 9 months preggers than I was before I got pregnant because I lost so much weight from the morning (all day) sickness.

The first time around my BBs were *really* sore/tender. They're not now--is that b/c I'm still BFing DS? I was starting to worry about that. Someone please reassure me! :)
Also last time I never had nausea, but there were definitely things I couldn't/wouldn't eat/look at/smell, so I could definitely relate to your story, lazyhead. None of that yet either. In fact, it seems like now I want to eat everything that's not nailed down! :lol

You know I think with Bfing and just weaning not too horribly long ago that our boobs are so used to being tender that its not a big deal, ya know?? I mean mine are only a tad tender but I know I am still holding milk in them, so I think that we have a different threshhold for boobie pain ;o)
And as for MajorGrover (hee hee hee nice to see you here!!!) same thing just kicked in yesterday and I remember I had the same thing last time too. HOw I remember is b/c I'm in FL and I was pregnant during the hurricanes (first trimester) and we have a well so no electricity = no water for us. And it seemed like as soon as the power would go out I would have to run to the toilet and my husband would be so upset, b/c no joke it owould like within seconds!!!! not pleasent. And it lasted prety much throughout!!1

This is my first, so I don't have anything to compare it to or what to expect. I have had some waves of nausea that started on Thursday. Sometimes a tight feeling in my abdomen and a lump in my throat. My breasts are just slightly sore, nothing unbearable.

Widdlou you poor thing! That's a funny story to look back on but it must have been awful at the time. I hope my upset tummy doesn't last the whole time but I'll take it any day over throwing up. Maybe I should ease up on the avocados just in case!
Thanks to the rest of you ladies for sharing, I don't feel so crazy now!:dizzy:

Tender boobs, not as bad with DS which was SORE literally within days of conception. I was shocked that I could feel something so strong so fast.
Anyway - I also have a strange food thing. I eat junks - cookies, brownies, ESPECIALLY ice cream. I could have ice cream on a daily basis and did for a while last cycle and even pre-O this cycle. But now, I can't even finish half a serving without it making my stomach very upset. This happened the last time too and it's a bit strange for someone like me who actually lists ice cream as my "favorite food" on getting to know you surveys. Also - certain healthier types of food are so appealing and even taste better than normal.
Already having to go pee in the early morning hours which is definitely not something that happens unless I'm pg.
AND - one more sign that no one will believe/understand - I can crack my back - not in the traditional way, but when I'm sitting in the drivers seat of my car, sometimes my lower back just feels kinds of "squished" - when I'm pg I can put my hands down on the seat and push. It causes my butt to lift from the seat and my lower back cracks (it's like my hips pull down on my spine and everything stretches out - kind of like how you can pull your fingers to crack the knuckles). ANYWAY - I can NEVER do this when I'm not pg. Well, I can do it, but my back NEVER cracks it just feels like it's stretching a little. I've tried many times when I'm not pg and it never works, but when I'm pg, I can do it almost every day.

We went out to breakfast this morning...I wanted mediteranian but everyone else wanted pancakes...so...after trying to eat I ended up waiting in the Jimmy due to the smell and taste of everything. I'm loving this nausea. With my first 2 I was hyperemic and it had already started. I've had a few waves of nausea and that's it! It's awesome! I pray it's like this throughout instead of like it was with the kids.
I can also smell my husband more. It's like some weird bloodhound has taken over my nose. I can smell him coming up behind me, entering a room, coming in from outside....it's really weird and he smells different than before I was pregnant.
And, what is up with the boobs?! I'm already huge and now there isn't a bra to fit me. I'm a D and they're too sore to go in a bra. I'm wearing the summer 'shelf' bras under shirts because they hurt so much. Even that's pushing it. (Speaking of TMI...) I'm as white & pink as you can get and my nipples are getting a brown cast to them. I don't remember that with the kids (then again my head was in the toilet 20-30 times a day). I thought the brown nipples happened to people with more melanonim (spelling). Is there anyone who is practically albino who is going brownish?
My uterus fills full, I'm exhausted, craving mediteranian (yummm vegetarian stuffed grape leaves), and pickled/vinegar stuff.
I'm upping my protein like Anne Frye says to do and I'm getting sick of the liquid protein/protein powders so I'm trying to find protein bar recipes.
I'm also vegan (no animal products no dairy/chicken/meat/fish/eggs/etc.) and I was told I'd have to take the blood thinner...I've gone brain dead here...but I didn't want to do that since it is found in your baby's spinal fluid and I met only one of the requirements (recurrent mc) and all tests had said nope to a clotting disorder. So I decided to go salmon (yuck!) since it has natural blood thinning properties. I figured better natural made like fish than drugs. So, I'm sick of the protein and just decided to add fish for the protein. So...tilapia, mahimahi & tuna will be added to the salmon. (would love recipes/advice on how to cook it 'cause I've no clue. I've been vegetarian since high school and vegan for 5 years.
I'm taking progesterone and I'm avoiding all soy products since it's estrogen based because I don't want them to cancel one another out (I know my other loses were progesterone based.)
I started seeing an RE and was really sad about that. Our first visit beginning of the month and he ultrasounds my ovaries and I'm ovulating from both!!! He says...'It looks like this is the month for twins!' Then doesn't want us to try!!! I ignored his 'you have old eggs' (I'm 29!!) and we were very active! So, I'm pregant!!! YeAH!! My ultrasound is going to be scheduled tomorrow. I can't wait to see the baby is ok. I'm worried because I've had so many loses...I've lost them up till 12 weeks and I'm really scared. I know this is our sticky babe because I have the progesterone that no one would give me. I'm so excited and I have to honestly say, I hope it's twins. It'd be nice to know that neither one of us would have to have empty arms after all these loses. But....Oh! Heparin was what they wanted me on!!! Huey & Weprin ob/gyn add off to the side reminded me!!! ;) But, I'm so excited and eager to see that little yolk sack, then the heart beat, see that little bundle wiggle, and feel it wiggle. Oh, and to then hold my bundle safe and warm against my breast as he/she/they nurse....ah...that's what dreams are made of!!!

I'm not the only one with a weird nose?? That is such a relief! Sadly, mine doesn't fade after birth, each of my kids has left me with a bit more of it. I've been queezy since Saturday, spent Friday crying (becuase my dh had Chinese at work, that he brought home to share, but I literally cried all night over this :dizzy:) Shoulda known something was up :lol By Sunday night, after we spend the afternoon running errands and I hoped I wouldn't puke, I was wondering. So this morning I tested, and yup. Oh, and my breasts don't feel sore, just more there if that makes any sense. More sensitive and maybe swollen.
I'm afraid to make eggs now, I am unable to cook them pregnant for some reason, they just make me so sick. I can eat them, as long as I didn't see or smell them cooked :o. Sadly, my kids love eggs for breakfast lol
I really thought I was crazy feeling this already, I'm glad I found this group

My first clue was peeing more often- I rarely go to the bathroom, because I hardly ever drink enough. Next thing was a wild craving for orange juice! I normally vary from being indifferent about OJ to downright despising it! But I finished off a half-gallon of it from Saturday to today! I've also been eating a ton of those little clementine oranges.
DD just weaned in the last month, so the boobs are feeling a little "off" but not too bad. Like a PP said, they just seem more "there."

I'm craving mediteranean...baba, falafal, veg stuffed grape leaves, hummus w/ extra olive oil, tabouli (not so much) homemade pita bread & tahinni.
My husband said I've either bought stock in our local med restuaruant (ate there 3 times in the past 4 days!) or the baby is the med guys! :)
My super smeller actually discovered an eaten apple under our bed. I figue the kid were in here eating, heard me coming and tossed it since I HATE for them to eat in the bed...I mean seriously...any crumbs should be mine. Ben was like...how?....
There is something that has died in our sink...I don't know what it is but Ben's got to find it and kill it if it's not dead yet. He looks at me but I can smell it! It's there!!!
He's making me nachos right now...beans, tortillas, tomatoes, onion, guacamole and protein powder...YEAH!!!
Is anyone else doing the Anne Frye 80-100 grams of protein? We're vegan and I actually bought fish cause I really can't stand the powders texture any more. Plus I figure I won't have to eat as much then! ;)
Owh! I'm so excited! Due Date buddies!!!!! ;) This is fun. I feel like such a weenie saying that and saying weenie! ;) :lol
Can't sleep!!! Too keyed up for tests tomorrow!!!!

Weird taste in my mouth (which is why I tested) - same as DS and the mc's, kind of a metallicy yucky taste.
And, I felt really bloated...I usually dont feel this water logged before AF. Just lots of pressure near my pelvic bone.
I'm sure the preg sickness (not mornings for me...alll day) will kick in in 1 week, 4 days to be exact! Stocking up on morning sickness magic!

80-100 grams of protein
I started last pg that way -- and the final tri-mester, due to failer to gain weight and SGA baby -- CNM had me doing 200 gm.
not sure i agree with that -- 20/20 hindsight -- protine is the hardest way to gain weight -- which is what the baby and i needed. I think that 100 grams was enough to build the baby, and i should have been consuming more fat and carbs to put on the punds.
so this time I will not do that -- not useing her again anyway.
I am nurseing and plan to TN so I am working really hard at keeping up the calorie and starting to gain weight.
no - low -cal options,
no - low-fat or fat-free options
drinking at least 2 bottles of juice a day (caloreies) and having my over night water bottle be juice in stead ---- started this at end of last pg to help he weight gain -- it is a great way to get extra calories into you.
in geneal trying to "clean up my act" more veggies, more food over all -- even wh
en rushed with a tot. going for the protine, extra water.....

The fatigue is killing me. I could sleep all day if I didn't have a toddler to catch. I've had a very little bit of nausea but my boobs aren't sore, thank god becasue I am still nursing that rambunctious toddler (21mo.) I had such a nice PG last time and this one feels lke it is on the same track. I made my first prenatal appt for 8 weeks along in March. Hopefully we will hear or see the heartbest. the date is the day before DH's B-day so I thought it would be a nice gift for him to see that. When we saw DS's heartbet the first time we stood in the parking lot after hugging and crying because it makes it so real and exciting.

He's not nursing over night, just stopped right after my BFP...when he nurses I don't feel the milk come out and he doesn't nurse near as often and my bbs aren't engorged or sore at all. He really favored the right side so the left side feels really deflated (plus now I'm favoring the right side because the left side hurts more. :lol He's really cut down all of the sudden. Taste change maybe? :(
ETA- I think he nursed maybe 4 times yesterday, and only for a minute or two each time. He didn't even nurse to sleep. He asked for it, I started nursing and he stopped, rolled over, started fussing for a second and fell to sleep. The only time today he's nursed really well is at 6:00 this am...and even that was only for a minute or two.

Over the last two days I have definately noticed an increase in CM, my nipples are sore, gassy, and I am REALLy tired. I don't feel as much nausea, but maybe I am just getting used to it.
I did drive by a McD's on my way home from pilates class and could smell their burgers. I usually can smell BK or DQ burgers, but not McD's burgers. It smelled tasty for a second (I am a vegetarian), but now it makes me feel sick even thinking about it.
Does anyone notice that cravings come and go very quickly? Like something sounds good one minute, but by the time you can get it not so much.

Well, I'm currently 13 dpo, and for the last 4 days I've been noticeably more tired, a bit more hungry, terribly thirsty, and as a result have been using the restroom much more. My stomach has been reacting badly to lots of things it doesn't normally react to, as in bad gas pains, constipation leading to diarrhea, etc. The most noticeable and worst early symptom for me has been terrible gum soreness and canker sores. I've never had this with any other pregnancy. But it was my first clue that maybe the magic worked this month. I'm really hoping the gum soreness eases up soon. Maybe I can find some sort of herbal remedy for it.

I had terrible m/s with dd, so I anticipate more of the same any day, which is fine...I want to know things are going well and my babe is healthy. But for now, I'm trying to enjoy what's left of my appetite!! Foods and smells aren't making me sick yet, but I have made a couple of dishes, taken a bite, and decided that the food was no good - DP assures me that it WAS good. And my sense of smell is ridiculously sensitive.
I am definitely peeing more, and the only other symptom I have is a feeling of something going on in my lower abdomen. Not really cramps, maybe more like a feeling of warmth and/or tension? It isn't a painful feeling, I'm just very aware of my uterus, I guess.

It hasn't been this strong since my first, I'm keeping a stash of pretzels next to the bed just like I did then, didn't have to do that the last two times.
I'm also noticing a size difference. I can still wear my normal pants, but it was a size I had just got down to, so they are a bit snug. If I sit on the floor, or bend down a lot, they are uncomfortable now, just to much belly pressure. I've been wearing my baggie comfy pants the last few days, but I guess at some point I'll have to dig out some other sizes. Of course, all my maternity stuff is at the bottom and back of the attic, really wasn't expecting to need it, so hopefully we move before I need it, I REALLY don't want to dig for it lol

Boy, I'm glad I don't have any of those food problems - so far, no nausea and no smell issues. Today though, I'm drop dead tired and I've been eating everything I can get my hands on. I brought extra fruit to work with me cause I had a feeling I'd need it. I haven't had any kind of craving yet though. Maybe it's to early? But I really hope that smells don't start getting to me...

My breasts are tender like theyre bruised, and I still have the stickycrampies (they feel like gas). My farts smell, they never smell unless I'm sick so I suppose my body is confused, my poor husband.. LOL! Just now getting some overactive CM.
Before I even found out, I went to buy a new bra because my boobs were sore. I didnt even THINK this month was the month (in fact I thought we missed it, very strongly). Luckily I bought a nursing bra that I can grow into! For now at least.... Im not even 5 weeks and Ive shot up a cup size.

My pants are also getting snug already. Gotta love the bloat!
I find that if I don't eat every 2-3 hours I feel very ill! What a great excuse to snack (healthy food, of course :wink ) all day.

I've also been quite tired this week and my back is aching. Okay, time to go snack on something again.

Today I am super naseous...I hate food right now because it tastes gross and stinks...but what I do eat, I tend to overindulge in. LOL I feel hungry all the time but most foods do not sound appetizing.
My pants are getting a bit tight...starting to get a belly now- very unusual for me this early.
Sore nips when nursing or messing around with dh.

Oh...something I noticed yesterday....increased sense of smell. Everywhere I went there was just some strong scent that caught me off guard. I highly doubt it was just a strange coincidence that all the places I went to had some strong odor, I think it's my nose. :wink

I've made it through 3 pregnancies without actually throwing up. I've often felt really crappy, and queezy, but managed to resisit it. I just don't handle it well at all. Well, I've spent my whole day fighting it today, and it's gotten so much worse the last few hours. My stomach is killing me and I am half afraid to go to bed, my dh won't be here, and both the little guys are light sleepers that wake often, so being up sick all night isn't a good option.
I sure hope this passes, I can't deal with much more of it :sick

The smells are getting me too. My Bath and Body Works Wallflowers are about to get thrown away. They smell awful to me! And seriously, I loved them before getting pregnant. And last night I pulled out some ground turkey to cook up and it smelled bad to me. Really bad. I called dh over and said "smell this, is this meat bad or am I just being pregnant?" He smelled it and then patted my shoulder and said "your just being pregnant dear, it's fine." So, I cooked it and we ate it in our soup, but I was a little leary of it the whole time I was eating it.
Surprisingly, I'm not having any stomach issues yet. Normally I have bad gas and constipation almost immediately and I get so constipated than when I finally go, I end up spending hours in the bathroom and throwing up many times. This usually happens 1-2 times per week in my first trimester. So far, nothing! (Keeping my fingers crossed.) Seriously, I think it's almost worse than morning sickness.
And the other surprise is that I have not felt extra hungry at all (which also starts right away after implantation normally.) But I've had a rotten cold for the past several days and I'm only 4w3d, so who knows. Maybe the hunger will kick in once this cold goes away.
Tired, yes. Bone-weary infact. I'm not sure how much I can blame on this cold and how much on being pregnant. Hopefully it gets better.

Apryl, sometimes it's better if you just get it over with and throw up. Also, I've found ginger to be an amazing help with ms (not needed this time yet, but last time I used it alot!) I got the really good ginger soda from the HFS that had 17-21 g of actual ginger in it. I would sip it all through the day. And ginger tea is awesome! Some people just suck on crystallized ginger. I hope it doesn't last too long for you.

Thanks. During the day it was just uncomfortable, not anything major. So I did look for ginger, but didn't have any. But I could just go about things, I just took it slow. Its just the last couple hours its gotten more yucky. Luckily, after kids were in bed at least. I had forgotten about chrystalized ginger, so I just shaved some little bits off. I had assumed it was just gass, but now when I burb, it feels like I'm going to be sick. I did make a few trips into the bathroom, I had the same idea you said, just get it over with, but nothing. So guess I'm just gonna run back and forth and hope my belly works through it by morning and lets me sleep a bit.
Thanks for the support tho!

Hey, look I'm replying to myself :lol
My poor dh has a weak tummy like me. And wouldn't you know them minute he comes down and I'm trying to tell him how bad I've felt, and I'm running sick. But I do feel better now. Not all the way, but at least I think I'm safe to try to go to bed. Geez, I have never understood how so many mama's handle doing this all through the pregnancy. I have so much sympathy for those mamas, but don't think I could make it, I'm just such a wimp on that topic.
Well, hopefully off to bed now :o

Wow... I wish I could stop eating for awhile. It seems like I'm constantly hungry. It's going to drive me crazy because every time I see food I'm like oh, that looks good. All my coworkers think I've lost it (cause they don't know yet).

LOL I'm hungry all the time too, and highly suggestible. Everything looks good and suddenly I'm hungry for it! I guess this is the calm before the storm, though I'm personally hoping the storm never arrives! :fingersx:
I do have a weird metallic taste in my mouth this morning. Of course the upset stomach hasn't gone away either. Ah well, all these things I can deal with. Not much different from usual, actually. :lol

i've totally got the metallic taste in my mouth going on .. and yesterday, i napped for 3 hours.. and me sleeping during the day is practically unheard of! and even after that nap, i was down for the night by 8pm! isn't it way too early to be this tired? i only got my BFP 2 days ago!

It's early for me but I have noticed I have fuller tender breasts. Also I am very hungry most of the time but when I do eat I feel so bloated afterwards. In fact I feel bloated most of the time these last 4 or 5 days. I am not even 5 weeks yet and my underwear is already cutting into my hip because I'm so bloated! Also I'm getting tired early. Been unable to stay up past 9:30. I remember with DS I was going to bed at 8pm for a couple of weeks from the exhaustion.
I will say I love symptoms! I'm so happy to finally be preg that the symptoms make me happy not sad. It makes me feel that great things are happening inside of me!

I dunno... I took a nap today for about an hour and slept this morning far longer than normal. I've actually been tired since before I got my BFP and I got that at 10dpo. I think it depends on your body and how the hormones and the baby affect you.

I'm 4w pg today. I have very, very very sore boobs, and they are noticeably bigger ( to me at least). I'm starting to get really, really tired and have had a couple evenings where i've felt a little queasy. But I didnt really get the symptoms of pg until about 7-8 wks with DS, so i think I have a little time yet. But MAN, do my boobs hurt! I think its something to do with that DS was only weaned in December, so i still had a little milk when i got pg, and my boobs were still 'awake', so they've responded faster this time.
Any gut feelings on the sex of your babes yet? Not a clue for mine!

I'm guessing a girl so far, but who knows

OTOH, maybe it means we're having a girl this time around?! That would be good :) And yeah, eating is the only thing making me feel better ATM. Funny that you said that Laura I just discovered flavored seltzer water the other day and I love it! Seems to prevent gas when I drink it with food. Calorie free too!
I just switched to Rainbow Light Just Once prenatals yesterday and I've had mild nausea both yesterday and today. Coincidence? Should I take them at bedtime instead of with breakfast?
Insomnia is kicking in now. Exhausted all day, can't wait to get to bed, then can't sleep when I'm in bed. Repeat the cycle. Gah!

I just found out today! Yeehaw! Now some things are making sense...last week I started getting little pimples all over my face...I never break out! Then Sunday I was suddenly so tired I felt like I was high, then it passed. Now my head just feels swimmy today...and I can suddenly smell the spot on the carpet where my puppy peed two weeks ago, even though we cleaned it. In fact, I smell pee EVERYWHERE! Ew!!
Also started craving potato chips last week, I usually hate those. I think it's passing though, thank goodness. What a waste of calories!

I just got my BFP yesterday! Had to test again today to make sure it was real! Yeehaw! I thought we missed it this month but DH says he had a good feeling...but now my super-sniffer is on overdrive! Especially animal smells...dog smells, old pee places on the carpet I thought I cleaned, and last night one of the dogs came over to say hi with her rawhide in her mouth... EW!!!! I almost had to leave the room!
No cravings yet other than last week's potato chip-fest which makes sense now (I hate potato chips), thank god that passed, but I definitely feel the beginnings of potential morning sickness. Not actually sick yet, just metallic taste in my mouth.
Had a cup of half-caffeinated coffee this morning, I hadn't planned on completely giving it up cuz I'm SOOOO addicted, was just gonna cut down, cuz now they say a little bit is ok, but it just didn't taste right! I had chamomile last night (usually hate tea) and it was great! Helped me sleep without my sleep meds, yay! My body seems to be adjusting how it needs to without my trying!
Oh, also very thirsty, and considering I usually drink a lot of water already, I'm peeing A LOT!
I'm just nervous about getting too excited, ya know? It's only 4 weeks, still a risky time. Anyone else have those fears? I wish I could just relax and enjoy it!

I'm rather asymptomatic still. Not bloated, not terribly gassy, not too extra hungry, not nauseous, just a bit extra tired. And a little cramping. I must be pregnant with a boy, because this is very not normal for me. I'm usually unable to cook at all by this point. And last time I couldn't handle anything that was spicy at all (Sonic's chicken fingers were spicy to me at the time). Everything had to be totally bland or it would make me throw up. It was awful and I was definitely feeling it all by this point. It makes me a little nervous, but overall I'm happy to not be feeling sick or too much extra hungry. And bowel issues are not worse than normal which is also very odd.

Aimeeandbrian I had AF-type cramps for the first few weeks after the BFP. They seem to have gone away now but like you said, they're pretty normal. Your uterus is stretching! :)

I'm feeling pretty lucky here too. Exactly 7 weeks today and I haven't had m/s yet. I feel a little queasy sometimes and there's a weird metallic taste in my mouth but other than that I'm good! I'm not even 4 weeks yet, and I've been feeling crummy for two days now. Nausea already, and super bloated and crampy. And exhausted, but that's probably the extra progesterone. And today at our church fundraiser I almost puked at the sight of the wiggling, jiggling custard pie, and the smell of corned beef made my tummy toss. I didn't have ANY m/s with dd, so this is all foreign to me.

Dee I'm happy to hear the bloating goes away...I'm 4w 2d and my pants are tighter already...but I did just wash them...and for a couple days ate some pretty fattening stuff and haven't done my workouts for several days. (That's probably why!) I got worried when a book I saw said by week 8 you should only have gained a pound or two...ack! But I think it's just what I was eating.
The super-smell thing has faded, replaced by achey muscles and overwhelming moments of narcolepsy! I swear I can feel my uterus stretching at times...feels like my abs are sore as though I did a bunch of situps, then it's gone. Weird.
Still can't believe it, I did another test this morning to make sure again! Still BFP!
