Hey Fellow November Mamas!
I just called to make my first apt with the doctor and they won't see me until 8 weeks, which is another 3 weeks away for me. Is this what you experienced, too?
I experienced a little bit of 'spotting' last night and it has completely freaked me out, I really wanted that doctor telling me about how normal/ harmless it is. I know I'm being neurotic, but blood is scary!

That is fairly normal. I'm pushing for an earlier appt since my dh is deploying at the end of April. I want to get in right away and get an ultrasound scheduled for before he leaves. We had a miscarriage in the fall and this is the only part of the pregnancy that dh will be a part of. I have my first nurse only appt. tomorrow morning. OB appt won't be for a few more weeks.
Spotting is normal but also very scary. If it gets any heavier or continues you can go to the ER.

Mara, if you look on the main page for this ddc, we have a whole thread on when everyone's first appointment is. That might help! :)

Looks like mine will be next Friday, for an u/s at 7 weeks. I start taking Progesterone tonight, because my count was 15. They are just being cautious, and that is okay with me. I feel healthy and at peace. I don't think anything is wrong. I have horrible dreams at night, though. Still a little scared, I guess.
Wishing you all the best.

My MW will probably be coming over to chat soon, just so we are on the same page about everything. But I don't think we'll have a real prenatal until at least 8 weeks, or maybe even more like 13 weeks.
I am kind of surprised your OB wouldn't offer to do run a few HCGs to make sure it's still going up or do an u/s to make sure everything looks good for dates. That is what mine did when I had spotting at 6 weeks with #1. Spotting at this point can be totally normal but is still very scary!
I had light reddish spotting last Tuesday and I was freaked out. Being only 4 weeks I talked to my MW over the phone and elected to just stay at home and see what my body was doing. I stayed in bed, drank a lot of pregnancy tea, checked my cervix a few times to make sure it was still closed, and talked to the baby and told it I really wanted it to stay if it could. So far so good, I haven't had any more and I still feel PG.
Good luck!

I didn't know what to expect when I called the MW to make an appointment. I called her the same day I got my BFP (10DPO) and she wanted to see me 4 days later. She confirmed the pregnancy, talked to me about nutrition, and answered my questions. It was all very relaxed. She then sent me for bloodwork. My next apointment is this Friday and I will be about 6 weeks. She said we would go over my bloodwork and talk to me about what to expect in the coming months.
I do know that several of my friends that go to OBs said people around here aren't typically seen until week 12. Seems like a LONG time!

My MW could see me as early as 6 weeks but I said I'd be fine waiting so we agreed on 8 weeks. Like pp said they can't do much this early and I'm already on prenatals so I'm happy with waiting until 8 weeks.

Mara, that's how my ob used to be, but now they'll do confirmation appts much earlier. However, I'm waiting until 6w3d which will be Thursday for me. I wanted to go in on Friday instead, but there was no opening. Then after they confirm, they'll schedule a "real" ob check, but I do expect an u/s on Thurs which seems to be part of the confirmation process now (based on my last experience last year).

My MW likes to see people early, and it's a new practice for me so I went at 5w1d. We talked nutrition, did my full physical (since I hadn't had one since just before getting PG with DD) and did the basic questionnaire stuff. I don't have to go back for 4 weeks after that, but I'll see her again at 8w, just to get on the "multiples of 4" schedule for my own sanity.

Oh well, um, I didn't actually tell them that I was spotting...:o I was making an apointment with a brand-new doctor that I've never seen, and was concentrating more on just getting into his practice--it's a highly reccommended one here on MDC. Honestly, I didn't think there was anything they could do except tell me with the blood test that I was still pregnant, which I already know. And, if they are going to tell me that something's very wrong and to *expect* a miscarriage... I think I'd rather not know, I'd rather it just happen. I think. I guess I didn't realize how much they can discover at this stage!

Much better, I think. I don't seem to be spotting any more, no cramps or anything like that. I'm still walking on eggshells and scared to death, but I *think* that everything's OK.
