Hi Sarah, Krissie and the rest of the Dutch Mamas here :wink
Just wanted to re-introduce myself briefly, now that we've actually moved to Amsterdam properly - found an apartment in the Rivierenbuurt; hoping to go to the English language playgroup round the corner soon - (Roggebrug? anyone been there/know it?)
I think Pippo, our 14-month-old son,is enjoying it here, although he was more unsettled than I thought he would be when we first arrived. In the beginning he kept looking for my coat, and when he found it he would bring it over to me and kind of thrust it at me until I put it on, and then he would give me this huge satisfied smile and then climb into my arms and put his head on my shoulder... it was cute but kind of heartbreaking too... :guilty
Anyway he seems to have stopped doing that! And is quite happy exploring the new playground etc etc.
Is the AP meeting still happening at any point? And I am still interested in attending an LLL meeting, does anyone (Sarah?) have information about that?
Also, final question (!) does anyone have any experience with breath holding spells in toddlers? Pippo just had his second one and it is pretty terrifying. Going to GP next week.
Look forward to reading/meeting you soon,
Anna xx

Hi Anna! It's so good to see another MDC mama in the Netherlands! I'm glad you guys are getting settled in.

I know Sarah has been out of town a bit, so I'm PM'ing you the details about Sunday's natural parenting meet-up. I know a few of us are planning to be there (although it's the daylight savings change on Sunday morning, so the two of us from Utrecht were saying that we probably won't make it in time for the speakers).

And I *think* the LLL meeting would be this week (I believe it's the 3rd week of the month). I'll see if I can find the schedule.

And we'll all probably get together soon for another playgroup. I hope you can make it!

Katie and Anneke (25 months)

Hi there,

We got back in town yesterday, after a month away. It's good to hear from you again and I'm pleased that you've found a place and gotten settled in.

Is the playgroup you're talking about the Robbeburg or something like that? I went once. It seemed okay. I can't say that I was dying to go back, though. Perhaps because it was a reasonably long bike ride for me, and I didn't feel a strong connection with any of the other moms. Also, I don't like the idea of playgroups that you have to pay for.

There is an LLL meeting this Thursday from 10-12 near the Hilton on the Apollolaan. I hope you can make it and will look forward to meeting you there. Just PM me for the details. The leader, Mina, does appreciate an RSVP.

And thanks for passing the word about the natural parenting thing, Katie. I hope Garth and Helena will have a good turnout. It will be great to meet some new people that aren't already involved in the one AP thing that I know about here, namely LLL.

Oh, I don't recall what your nationality is, but if you are American or have lived there or have an American partner, then perhaps you'll be interested in joining the American Women's Club. There is a weekly playgroup on Monday mornings. It's a nice group of women and kids. For more info on that, just PM me.

Sarah

Hello Sarah...

good to hear there's more 'natural mommies" living in amsterdam!!
welcome to town!
i live in amsterdam as well (centre) although we spend 6 months every year in thailoand cause my boyfriend is working here in the high season (he's a singer).
we'll be back in town in 3 weeks time, and stay for 6 months again...

so I hope to meet you!

i don't know anything about breath holding spells but it sounds really terrifiying, hope ur gp knows more about it...

our son wobbe is only 6 mnts old by the way...

I would also like to attend the LLL meetings when we're back.

I can't make it (obviously, still in thai...) this sunday, which i really regret, i hope there will be more events like that soon.

hope to meet you!!

angela!
