Bye, folks. Just gonna take my leave ...
Guess I'm really to kinda get used to this routine again ...
Except, of course, for the 8 lbs :eek I've put on in the last 2 weeks. :(
Man, ever since Sophie was born and I got my period back, it's been an emotional rollercoaster. I NEVER had this much trouble before. Last weekend I burst into tears watching new dp put a sweater on the baby and wipe her nose, and I cried for very nearly ten minutes. At the end I said, "I have no idea why I did that" and he said, "You're going to get your period on Tuesday, sweetheart." I was really taken aback.....one, because *I* don't get nuts when I get my period (except, now I DO  ) and two, hullo, when did YOU start keeping track of my uterus? (except, he's attentive to everything else so I don't know why this would be different) and lo and behold, Tuesday morning I woke up and ..... yuck.
It's a weird feeling, for me, to have him paying attention to that, and it's weirder still to be a weepy wreck before, during and after.
That does it. He needs to reverse his vasectomy.

:LOL Man, are you ever NOT allowed to make big decisions in your state!
I talked to one of my dear girlfriends last night who just had her worst ever period. She called in sick. She suspects it is because she neglected to take vitamins last month which she generally does. Now, interestingly enough I don't usually take supplements but I have my husband on a mega-regimine because he has to get the Anthrax vax next week. So I have been reminding him, and thus reminding myself. Thus far (12 hours in, knock wood) this period has been totally mellow, in contrast to many of my moon times lately. So, I dunno. Anyone else have anecdotal stuff to add?
I have nothing anecdotal to add.
I didn't have PMS prior to giving birth. I'm a mean spirit sometimes, now. I'm learning to keep it to myself, at least. (well, except when I get on the internet and spew the filth in my heard everywhere:rolleyes: )
I find that how I feel while PMSing directly corelates to how I generally feel during pregnancy: pissed off.
I can't wait to get pregnant, again.
Oh, wait! Yes, I can. :o

Hi - I just found this thread and had to laugh. It's a wonderful thread!!! Prior to kids, I was HORRIBLE each month - pain, cravings, cranky, moody, irregular. After child #1, it all changed. It was wonderful - so to speak. No pain, no problems. After #2, I'm irregular (stress related), cranky, bitchy, but no pain. Maybe the doctor was right - after having kids, the endometriosis would go away. YEAH!!
I actually had a birds & bees discussion with DD 2 weeks ago (she was asking questions and found a tampon in the diaper bag). She said - GROSS, I don't ever want to grow up. I laughed and told her if that had happened to me then she wouldn't be here today-so good things can come of it. She then changed her mind and said maybe it won't start until she was ready to get married - I told her to keep dreaming. HAHA.
I remember reading an old copy of Erma Bombeck's "The Grass is always Greener over the Septic Tank" . In it, she talked about "Celebrating another No Baby Month". It always struck me as funny, until I started WANTING babies.
Someone on here wrote up a bunch of nick names for getting your period, and my favourite one was "Arts and Crafts time in Panty Land". :LOL

lol, you gals are a hoot. I am at almost 10 months postpartum and AF still hasn't come to visit. I almost miss her... Almost.
I only had 3 periods between the two kids so I haven't had a reg period in almost 3 years, I feel like I need to clean out so to speak!
Did any of you ladies know it was coming before it did after you had babies? I feel like it could come any day and I will be out in white pants with no undies or pads or anything!!!:eek

Bella Babe - I remember from after DD was born I got it when she was 10 1/2 months so I knew after DS that I needed to be prepared. I started keeping an extra pair of underware and 1 pad and 1 tampon in the diaper bag at all times, just in case. With DS I didn't get it till he was just about 14 months. That was a much longer time after than with the first one. I had no idea it was coming either time. Good luck.
Man are you guys ever lucky.....BOTH times I got my period back at month 3 pp... Maeve was completely breastfed, I had to supplement Sophie but she was still nursing 90% at three months.

I filled up on so many goodies I passed out last night, so tired. Yes day two is the worst for me too. To top it off, we went on a day trip, luckily It included a lot of sitting. It just also included an hour drive each day in a non-airconditioned car in 100 degree heat. I am so thankful to be home again in my cool house! I just have to say bless my poor dh, I get so grumpy when AF shows, It is like I leap before I look and he is so good at being tender, in fact he knew she was coming before I did. Of course I was more focused on being pregnant and AF NOT showing. All well, I really appreciate the company. Today my offering is chocolate covered peanuts and chai tea. I also have seseme sticks for those of you with a salt need. I am going out to get a little air this morning..........
Welcome LizaJanesMom :) Hilary, for your sake I hope you are out of here soon!

I haven't been very good about keeping track on a calender lately, and so I don't have any concept of when they'll come (I *just* went to my calender and "x"ed this one!). My period came back when my dd was just 4 1/2 months. But then I didn't get one for another 3 months or so, but they're coming about 35 to 40 days or so now, this one being sooner. Which is good, seems more regular now. I'm still nursing. So I guess since it's been so sparatic this time post partum, I'm not sure when it'll come. I also didn't have any of the usual symptoms like super crabbiness (only mild crabiness :LOL) or slight cramping before like I sometimes have. So, that's why it felt "out-of-the-blue" this time.
I *hate* those loooong periods! My post partum period after this baby I bled like a stuck pig for 4 1/2 days (I'm talkin' HEAVY!)! I was getting concerned! But right when I started wondering about it, it lightened up.
The chocolate you found sounds interesting! I wouldn't mind trying it (IRL that is!)! What's the brand name??
Oh..and wow...you were REGULAR Hilary! I was always irregular before having babies, having about only 7 or 8 a year, but now after 4 pregnancies my body is about every 35 days-ish now, which I do like much better.
I'm on the look out for some Green & Blacks chocolate. My Whole Foods didn't have it!! I'll go look at our local co-op now...

:wave Hope you are getting more regular! Mine are just now showing a more regular pattern. I am nursing my 21 month old around the clock, but things seem to be straightening out. This is my 6th pp cycle and third one that is around my normal 28 days, so hoping they stay that way! With dd1 AF came back at 4 months and stayed steady and regular, dd1 started sleeping through the night then and went 12 hours without nursing every night! Dd2 is much more of a nurser and held AF at bay until 16 months pp. I get SOOOOO crabby, I don't always connect it with AF  , but dh always knows! When I am pregnant I am serene:flower Thankfully no cramps today. I was crampy for the 8 days leading up to AF this time around, so I am almost blissful today.
Talk to you all later:D

Hi everyone. I've posted before in this thread, but not for a while and now I need to post. I was about 1 week late this month. I did a pregnancy test and it came back negative (YEAH!) and of course I woke up the next am with my visitor. My DH knew I wasn't preg., why does he always know when I don't? I guess he is more intune to my body than I am. I am too busy with work and the kids to pay any attention to me! I just get stressed over everything.
I was craving chocolate so bad. DH's birthday was last week and I bought a double chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and I have probably eaten most of it by myself. YUGH! :eek Now of course I feel fat and bloated from it! I did do it over several days though, I guess that was ok then. I have been crampy now for 2 days, just not too bad.
I have a question... why is it when I am pregnant or have my friend visiting, I always have erotic, sexual dreams about other men (not my DH)????? Sometimes I know these men and sometimes they are imaginary.... Any ideas????? DH knows nothing about this.

Red wine? Who said red wine? I love red wine.
Always a pleasure to join you ladies ... well, okay, maybe not a pleasure, but in my hormonal misery always less miserable when I share it ... :eyes
So where's that wine? Man, do I need it. Had a hissy fit at DH tonight. Worse than a hissy fit. I threw the tablecloth at him, repeatedly. There was nothing on it, I was trying to get it off the table. YOu know, the vinyl kind with flannel on the back. Most unlike me. But sometimes he just ... I always think about that moment in the first "Die Hard" movie, when one of the terrorists is in a rage, and Bonnie Bedelia's character says, referring to Bruce Willis' character, "It must be because of John. No one else can make you that angry." Or something like that. A paraphrase.
Well, my DH can make me that angry. And I'm really not a tempermental person. Really not. But particularly annoying is how he always insists that any emotional reaction I have to anything is merely a product of hormones, not out of any legitimate emotional reaction. Man, does that piss me off. And tonight he didn't even say that. And this time would've been right.
:af

Well, now, doncha hate it how some folks barrel in on a nice, relaxing evening and just start b*tchin' about things?
I'll stop now. Pass that bottle ...

Red wine doesn't cut it for me. I need something stronger - like lets say....VODKA! or if I am drinking wine (becuase it's Shabbat) pass the bottle and I'll drink straight from it.
Last month, a friend came over late at night after work. My DH came home from work at 10:30pm found us sitting on the kitchen floor with a bottle of wine and an empty plate of brownies in front of us and my DD was lying on the couch still awake (I thought she was asleep). He looked at me and laughed..said ok... is it that time of month AGAIN...! I turned and said - NOT mine.. HAHA, but I was more wasted than my friend. I just had to share this story.

I'm here now too!!
I'm so frustrated! I love my gladrags to death but I'd like some variety. I still can't wear a tampon or a keeper for that matter (I'd LOVE a keeper...they seem so simple and eco-friendly all in one) but I tense up. I think it's psychological. It seems like a foreign object that shouldn't be in there. It reminds me of one of the monologues from Vagina Monologues...LOL
I was crampy and paranoid today. I had a bad day at work. I felt like everyone was out to get me. It's nice to get some space now and go into the weekend feeling like I can get some rest.
I didnt' have any Midol or Ibuprofen for cramps so I took some sleep inducing cough medecine to knock me out so I wouldn't feel my cramps...is that bad or what??

Wow, welcome to womanhood, Gabrielle. What a wonderful way to celebrate the first of many monthly renewals of your womb! :hearts
My period could not have come at a worse time this month. Sigh. I experienced my first (hopefully last) kidney stone last Thursday -- got to try out the French health care system, complete with MRI, yippee -- and spent the last four days completely out of it from the various drugs they gave me, plus PMS, plus 90 degree heat with no A/C and no breezes...ugh. Feeling human again today, finally, if a bit hot.
All this talk of chocolate sounds great. I'll be back with some dark chocolate with almonds in it. :yum

I have a bizzaar question... has anyone ever been affected by someone elses pregnancy??? Kinda like osmosis or kinetic energy. My best friend and I have this really funny connection. When I was pregnant with each child, she gained an additional 5 pounds and was extra bloted the entire time. Now, she is pregnant and I have cramps, bloating, and am craving ice cream and hungry all the time. I am fighting it, becuase I just lost 15 pounds and don't want to gain it back.
Is this normal???? I know it happens between husbands and wives, but what about best friends. We even live 500 miles away from each other.
Also, AF is coming next week. YUGGGGHH!!

I said it might be, it's not due till next Monday, but I could use the wine. While pouring me a glass, he said that Monday is still 5 days away. I laughed and said, "anything is possible."

I will leave behind the bread and coffee this time! I need it this morning! I was up in the middle of the night watching the lightening and letting the thunder rumble through my body. I always have loved summer storms, but last night I was scared. It is too dry here for so much dry electric activity. It felt like it was 95 last night after the sun went down. it's just so bizarre, this whole nursing/cycle thing. i've only had 5 periods since jan. 2001. and i think only one of those was ovulatory. i guess that's a good thing, right? rest for the weary and all. but it's strange having no clue how long a cycle is going to be.

Sooooooo.... we went to see "Finding Nemo". Thankfully dear Aunt Flo waited in the bathroom to meet me after the movie. Sadly she snuck up on me so I had nothing with me. I'm at a mall. The bathroom in the theater has no vending machines but I know the ones out in the mall do. Neither DH nor myself has a quarter. I try 5 different stores. "We don't make change." I pick female clerks and explain my problem. "We don't make change." I was so hot under the collar I was tempted to say fine. I'll just sit here on your carpet and bleed like a stuck pick pig! UGH! Finally score change, go to the bathroom... damn machine is busted. Can't get either a pad or a tampon. Change out the wad of TP in my pants and go tell DH... sorry, but it's time to go home.
I have stocked up... I have a bottle of Rhone and a nice Zinfadel. I think there is still some nice chocolate with almonds in the fridge and failing that a Hershey bar. (Forgive me Pie.. I didn't buy it!)
I am just a mess, period aside... I have had vertigo for a week, now my throat is raw feeling and I've got a sniff and body aches. If I could only just go to bed for a week... or hide in a real Red Tent. sigh

Hi everyone, AF arrived (Monday am) full force as usual. PMS was worse than the actual event though. I was horrible this month, cravings, achy, exhausted, sleepy, mood swings, eating everything in sight, and now....nothing, just bloated and tired. My DD even commented, "mommy - your belly is bigger..is there a baby in there???" I said no, but nice thought. I'm just bloated and then I had to explain what that meant (swollen from not feeling well).
I think tonight after the kids are asleep (early I hope), I will have a glass of wine and pass out in bed.

I feel crappy :crying This is not a good week for me (wait, it's not just this week... it's the entire month :eek ) Had trouble with a crown, dentist find that there was some infection last thursday, cleaned it and put peroxyde; I had to call back on monday 'cause de pain wasn't going, I'm on antibiotics for 10 days; ds had high fever yesterday and I felt really nervous and ate way too much sugar :o (really good for my weight-loss... and could trigger yeast infection :( )
:crying
So I can't have wine nor chocolate :crying
I heading in a corner and will hide under a blanket... (I have to run errands with the kids... blah... and ds still have low grade fever... re-blah I wish this tent was for real!!!

I'm here with you and now on day 3. I was eating like a PIG for 3 days prior and now my appetite has decreased again. My mother even had the gall to ask if I was pregnant becuase of what I was eating. I told her NO-it's just PMS...Thank you for asking though!!! I was PISSED!
I'm better now though. No weird cravings like usual. It actually came 3 days early too.

Hmmmm. Waiting at the tent flaps is getting boring ...
Say, where is everybody this month? Ya' mean I gotta provide my own fudge? Man. :cuss
Good thing it hasn't happened yet, gotta run out & get it ... double fudge ... :LOL
Of course, it may not happen, too ... :eek
The suspense is killing me. And the hormones are making me nuts.
Ooh, good, nuts with fudge. :D

Ooh, good, nuts with fudge.
:LOL
I just am ending Aunt Flo here...didn't come to the Red Tent though...I've been dealing with a pinched nerve in my leg and I'm ready to cut it off, so sitting on a bunch of hay didn't sound too apealing this month. The chocolate does though, I can leave some of my Green & Black's organic milk chocolate I bought at Whole Foods! :D Don't have any fudge though...
Mine has been creeping up on me outta nowhere the last couple of months, it's been weird. I used to being a complete crabby b*tch for a few days before, and I haven't been! That's a good thing I guess for everyone involved. :)

I'm back in here.
AF is wreaking havoc with my milk supply :(. We nearly had to supplement with formula the other day. :crying I've been taking Fenugreek, but its only helping a little. I just ordered some domperidone, because even if we get through this month there's still NEXT month... and the month after...
Then, to top it off, Jackson got so frustrated with not getting any milk that he went on a nursing strike and will only nurse at night or while we're laying down :bang
Its been a rough week.

I'm still have nausea  , bad cramping... blah... (and this is after 7 days of spotting :( I REALLY need that VITEX :o )
No chocolate or wine for me, thank you! :crap I'll have some soup... soup is always comforting when feeling sick:thumb
I think our homeschooling's day will be, hummmm, light :o I guess my kids won't be too upset about it :p

No red tent here yet....boy I gotta tell ya though she is a weird one...on the 29th of every month. Doesn't matter how many days in between or how strong she comes on. I can always count on the 29th being a day of pain and misery....the week before....I could eat my house and all of it's contents...and the neighbor's house...and my mama's house...you get the picture! Since I started relactation it's been weird too I may have this pinkish "stuff" like a week before, but it's barely enough to hit the tp and then with only one trip to the restroom and then nothing for a week and then bam.....(on the 29th, of course) here she comes...without fail!

Hi, I'm waiting for my visitor. Surprisingly, I haven't been PMSing this month. I think it's too many other things on my mind. I'll write back when needed.

Hi, everyone :wave
I just got my first :af since December of 1998. No, I don't need to edit. I haven't had my period in almost 5 years.
This entire past week I've been unusually calm and very creative. I wrote two good articles in two nights I want to submit to some magazines. I've also had a few great inuitive flashes... then, on Saturday, I sat down and said, "I wonder if I have my period?" And sure enough - there it was!:eek
It is soooo foreign to me. I found myself going, "What do I do with this?" I've kind of been walking around in a daze. Also, when I'm first on my pd. I don't want to eat very much. Usually, I eat like a hog.
Can I please have a margarita with extra extra tequila? I think I need it.:)

This is my first trip here. Also, my first AF in 15 months. I am 6 months PP. I cramped for a week and then this morning there it was. I am so crabby! Poor dh, he's not used to this anymore. I was totally shocked to get it. About 2 months ago ds went back to nursing every three hours and hasn't quit, so I wasn't expecting it. I read a post a few back about a low milk supply. I didn't know that would happen. Is that why ds seems like he's not eating a lot. I thought it was just him, but I guess it could be me. I better go drink some Mother's Milk Tea. Any suggestiolns for alleviating pain. Chocolate just ain't cuttin' it and I don't drink. THanks!

I've never been in here before. Hi!
CD1
I, too, wish this was real--I sure need a little vacation. Toddler is very very very nursey lately--on and off--on and off. I should just walk around topless! It is like having a newborn again.
Sigh. Someone pass the wine bottle.:eek

uh--just realized that sounded bad! I wouldn't really drink & nurse at the same time!

I'm sure there are some p.m.s. tea blends in the local health food store or something. I just lay around and get crabby and lazy and that's how I deal with my crampies.
djschrader - I drink and nurse at the same time. Okay, not a lot of alcohol or anything, but I don't mind having a little wine or beer or something. Esp. right now. I totally agree with your idea that maybe you should just walk around topless. Go out, get your mail, wave to your neighbors....:eek Wouldn't that be a sight?:D But you would have one very happy toddler!
I swear, I wondered why my boobs were so sensitive this week. I thought it was because DS was chomping on them when he was nursing. Poor thing.... it was good ol' AF the whole time!

Blegh. I'm not sure what's going on with my cycle, but I don't like it! I've been having massive PMS-type moments lately, but it's not exactly the right timing for PMS. My cycle is all kerfluey, and it's driving me crazy (DH, too - just an added benefit for him).
I'm nursing Will (6 months old tomorrow!), so that is probably affecting me.
Ughhh. Gotta go take the dog for a walk. She's being crazy, too - I'd blame it on doggy PMS, but she's been spayed.
We're just all blah here.

This has been so weird! Tuesday morning AF was here with a vengeance. It was really heavy all Tuesday and all yesterday. It didn't let up a tinny bit. Then I wake up this morning and it's completely gone. Since this is my first PP AF I'm not sure if this is normal. My usual AF is 5-7 days. Oh, well, I'll just be thankful it's gone!

seren-it took my ppaf a while to get the hang of things, I had wacky cycles for the first few months. Hang in there.
kinsey43-:hug
cd1 for me here, and I am not too happy about being here! We are ttc and here I am in the tent again. This is the start of cycle #6 ttc. Blech, anyone have any red wine? I have a couple of dh's beers, but they just don't sound good. I need something salty too, off to forage for chips and salsa...........................

Brandi - We had chips and salsa last night! Great minds think alike, eh?
Maybe this cycle will be the one for you. As my mom used to tell us kids, "Have fun and be careful!" Except you don't really need to worry about that last part! :D

back with chocolate chip cookies. From salt to chocolate:o Thanks kinsey:D . Had a very heavy first day, not so heavy today, and hardly any cramps. Very unusual. Glad today is over. I have to pack all week, not looking forward to it, just want our move to be over with! I am a moving ace, have moved so many times, but with kids, it is SO different. Two years at this next house and then we can buy a place of our own, and then I don't want to move for a VERY long time!

:af arrived first thing in the morning yesterday.
Went to the mountain and walked a lot - that eased the cramping.
Cramping again today :(
I'm using Wild Yam cream since a few weeks now and only had one day :D of light spotting instead of up to 7 days :eek before AF. :thumb I've read conflicted infos about wild yam cream but it seems to work so I will use it for 3 months as the naturopath suggested.
Chocolate cookies sounds good :yum I'm craving chocolate :o and sour candies

I'm in too. This one is weird, I'm usually pretty heavy for a few days, but I haven't been hardly at all! I'm not going to complain though. My mood has been alright too. Can I be on Zoloft for the rest of my life if I don't ever have PMS again?? :down :love

Bright red and FLOWING! Knew she was coming 'cause I've ovulated 3 times since birthing. And I was bitchy--but other things were going on, too. And given the three "passes" I was kinda like "it's about time!" when the flow actually started. I got 1 more month than w/ the first pp. My sister gets over a year each time (she has 6 children)! But I wonder if that's 'cause she's vegetarian and pencil thin (I nurse as much as she does! If not more, 'cause she co-sleeps less). But anyone else have tailbone pain w/ pds? I've wondered about this for a while...
Incidentally, does it bug anyone else that Dinah's claim to fame (in The Red Tent) is the male KNIFE (episiotomy) rather than womanly intuition/other midwifery ability?

Iyengar yoga has some poses for menstruation. They are listed in the book "How to Use Yoga" as well as (I'm sure) in Yoga: A Gem for Women" though I haven't checked that one specifically. They do help. Especially if I've been practicing consistently (not very often). Pelvic tilts and a nice HOT bath (or hot pad) help me, too.

oh, and Mayan uterine massage. And this "Moon Cycle Tea" that I found at our local Whole Foods Market (Yogi tea--this line actually TASTE good to me, too--but still stain my teeth). I think this one helped me get pregnant, too. Okay, I'm done now.
