View Full Version : Movement - could it indicate being further along?

I am 19 weeks and 1 day. I have been feeling fetal movement since 12/13 weeks LMP. My husband has been feeling fetal movement outside since 17 weeks. The movement we are feeling is very strong - my stomach will move, he feels definite elbows/knees, butt/head, it is not just slight movement or little kicks.

I am in my 4th pregnancy (my last one ended in miscarriage though) and I don't ever remember my husband being able to start feeling movement until well after 20/24 weeks, and it was always just a little kick here or there for a while.

Could fetal movement indicate my being further along than I thought? I now with subsequent pregnancies fetal movement can be felt earlier. But I have never heard of anyone feeling fetal movement outside the womb being so pronounced so early. I am measuring correct for dates though... Just confused about the fetal movement. I'm always feeling the baby move, and anytime the baby is moving it can be felt on the outside.

I have a mw appt. in the next week or two so I will certainly bring this up then, just curious if anyone had felt movement like this as early as I have and not have been further along than anticipated :-)

I felt it that early with my third.. I think it has a lot to do with placental placement and I know for me I was really skinny when I got pregnant with him so there wasn't much to mute his movements. This one I felt around the normalish time.. so it can happen. I was around 10 weeks when I felt number 3 and it wasn't much longer that my dh and dc were able to feel him rolling around in there. I would still talk to your midwife about it.

This comes totally out of the blue for me, but are you having twins? I have nothing to back that up with, it was just the first question that popped into my head.

I doubt it - I'm measuring on time for dates and haven't noticed anything "out of the ordinary" other than this, so I would have to assume no.

Are you built small? My dh has been able to feel fetal movement with this babe since about 15 weeks LMP (it was very light, but still!)... about the time I started noticing movement, actually...
