Hi, I'm not pregnant, but dh wants me to be. I guess I could try humoring him :lol

So I'm looking into prental yoga DVD recommendations. I searched back a few months and didn't really see what I was looking for... I took an AWESOME prenatal yoga class from my good friend last time, but I don't live near her now. I know they offer prenatal classes here in town, but I haven't looked into them. Also, I don't share my pregnancy news until after the 1st trimester, but I don't want to take that long a break from yoga!

I currently do some Gaiam beginner yoga DVD that's so-so, and I do Brenda Strong's Yoga 4 Fertility DVD-- I really like that one. I remember from my yoga class that I liked the more intense poses more than the others... If anything ever felt too intense, I'd just ease up, yk? I've previewed the Shiva Rea DVD Gaiam sells, and honestly it just seems too soft for me. I never once used a chair during prenatal yoga, and was doing it all fine up to 42 weeks!

What I feel I gain most from prental yoga is an opening of my body that further allows energy to flow freely around my body and my baby. So can anyone recommend something, pretty please?

The Method Prenatal Yoga with Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa.

It's Kundalini and it's fantastic - challenging enough, and it is all about energy flow and opening.

I found with all the prenatal yoga videos I tried I had to up the ante - theyre made so that mamas who have never done yoga in their lives and are doing it for the 1st time wont hurt themselves. So with all of them, I just used what I already knew to make them more challenging & useful for myself. The Giam one you mentioned was my favorite.

I bought Shiva Rea's video out of desperation last weekend cuz my Bikram teacher said I couldn't come back til my second trimester and after I'd cleared it with my doctor (who probably knows nothing about hot yoga, but nevermind that). The problem I have is that I was doing yoga to cure back pain, not open my hips and do kegel exercises, so I got really frustrated with it. I'm waiting for Bikram's wife's pregnancy DVD but it's taking forever...in the meantime, my back hurts!

Good luck finding something, I haven't had much luck, but my needs are very specific here.

That said, for prenatal yoga's sake, it's a great DVD I think. Just not what I'm looking for.

thanks! I checked with my past prenatal yoga teacher, and that's what she recommended, too! I'm glad to see so many people recommended the Shiva Rea DVD... I just get bored listening to the sample bit on the Gaiam website, I don't think there's any way I could sit through a whole session.
