First off, I'm not pregnant yet, that I know of. We are TTC, and AF is due the day I close on my house. The following day we will be having 3000 pounds of flooring delivered which I will have to help move into the house. It'll be 90 boxes of about 30 pounds. Assuming AF doesn't come, I will be testing that morning to make sure.

My question: is it ok to lift 30 pounds repeatedly in very very early pregnancy? I don't want to risk a miscarriage (had one in December), but I also have to do this.

I'd do it. This is based on me and my general "I'm not freaking out" policy. Use your legs and not your back, take breaks, stay hydrated, yadda yadda. I helped my parents move under the same circumstances and I was nauseated and tired, but I'm farther along now and I haven't had any spotting or cramping. (just more nausea and fatigue :p )

While some people will say, "oh, let me get that - in your condition!" I know of no real reason not to lift things in VERY early pregnancy. With all of those common-sense tips that Ayla shared, I think you'd be fine! The biggest issue I would look at is hydration. Also, is there any way to get a cart or dolly to help with? I know I'd get tired of lifting 30lb boxes pretty quickly! :lol

I think it's fine in early pregnancy. I lift and carry my 35 lb toddler all day every day :) I agree that you want to keep hydrated, and sit down and take a rest if you get lightheaded.

Unless it's something which would injure you in your normal, non pregnant condition I think it's fine! I'm regularly lifting things over 50 lbs and I've got 55 days to go :) Anything that would UNDUELY stress you would not be recommended but if you're healthy and it's not a massive stress then it's fine. Of course all of the disclaimers about lifting properly and posture and all of that..
