Hi mamas. I signed up for the homebirth meetup http://homebirth.meetup.com/members/ and have been disappointed that we haven't had a "meetup" yet. I was just curious if any of you are also on that list?
I have met a few homebirthers, but I don't really know any. I really wish it wasn't so hard to find other people who were like me, kwim?
Let me know if you're on that list-I'm so curious! :)

I am on that list, but between needing to do errands on weekends and sick kids in the family it hasn't worked out for me to go to one yet.

I really WANT to go sometime though.

I am on that list, too. I would like to go, but haven't for various reasons; either the day didn't work out, or the place was too far away. What I really wish is for a picnic or something at a nice park/playground, centrally located, when the weather is nice. My homebirth baby is now 13 months old and a coffeeshop isn't not a place he'd be happy. If we could do something outside, then I could bring my five year old, too.

Hey, who were y'alls midwives?

My midwife was Leann who lives in Griffin. She was trained by another midwife who a friend reccommended, but who lived too far away from us. She was excellent! I have met other moms around here who had Debbie Pulley at their births, but I felt more comfortable with someone who lives on the same side of Atlanta as me!

Hi! I wish they would do one that was more "kid-friendly". Maybe we can suggest a place? I have a 15 month old and a 3 1/2 year old and they wouldn't really enjoy a coffee shop either!:) My midwife was Gaye McMichael. She's in Lilburn/Snellville. She apprenticed with Debbie Pulley. Debbie is like a homebirthing legend! I think I would like to use her next time. I love her website. It's so cool that she takes pictures of all of the babies and puts them on there.
It's so nice to talk to other homebirthers in the area. Nobody really "gets" it. Even friends/family who support the idea don't really truly understand unless they've experienced it.
Let's try and find a way to get that meet-up to happen!!!
Hope to see y'all soon :D

Hey Paige, Debi Thomas was my midwife and Gaye was her 'backup' at my birth! Cool huh!

Re: meetup.....now it's getting to be pretty darn hot, but maybe we can brainstorm a somewhat central location for a picnic or something in the fall......Tucker, maybe? Sandy Springs? Stone Mt. Park? There is a great playground there.

Hi everyone from Athens, GA. Since I am very new to this I am still discovering new subjects and threads....just found this one :p
My midwife is Gaye too and I am due at the end of August with my first one. I have no idea how things will go on from that point since I've never "done" it before :D but I would love to come for your "metting" if it's gonna be possible for me to do.

I just signed up for the meetup and forwarded it to everyone I know who supports homebirth :)

My youngest is 14 months old now and we *really* need a child friendly place. Is there a way to suggest a different venue? I didn't see that as an option but I do see that virtually everyone is asking for one.

My midwife with my youngest was Aviva Romm.

Maybe once we get enought people for a meetup, we could post a different place on their little discussion board. A park, maybe?
Do you think that would work?
