Hi. I currently live in the Burlington area. I’m looking for a doctor who can help me find the cause of my son’s skin problems. I’m not sure if he’s allergic to something or what is going on. Our regular pediatrician wanted to but him on allergy medication, without even looking at him a second time. I usually really like our pediatrician so I’m very disappointed about this. If anyone can direct me to a doctor who can help me, I would appreciate it. I’m open to using herbs as a form of treatment but I also want to find out what’s causing it. Thanks

I know a nice doctor in Wells River. (From Burlington, take I-89 to 302 and take that all the way across the state to Wells River.) His name is Steve Genereaux and he is sensible and non-interventionist-if-it-doesn't-need-it and he and his wife home school and extended bf. He is in Family Practice. He also isn't totally opposed to herbs as I went to him for some diagnostics and told him that I would be taking herbs once I had a better idea of what was wrong. I was polite about it and he said that he didn't know about them to recommend, but he would be curious as to what I was taking and how it worked. He used to practice in Alaska.

Hi Jenn--

I would recommend you see a Naturopathic physician in Burlington. There are a few to choose from, yet Donna Powell is my favorite. Skin problems and food sensitivities are one of the many things NDs do well.

NDs are family physicians so can also order any lab tests that may be required too. Good luck.

Maple Sugar,

Do you know the names of all the naturopathic doctors in the Burlington area?

:yeah:

I like Donna Caplan. She is right downtown on King Street I think. Good Luck.

Hanna-- I would go to the website of Vermont Association of Naturopathic physicians and see who does Pediatrics. Naturopathic doctors trained in midwifery usually specialize in women and children.

Best, Rebecca

I have been to Donna Kaplan in Burlington and really like her. Dr Genereauux in Wells River is my family's doc. He is awesome, but it is quite a hike from Burlington.
Being an acupuncturist myself, you may want to check with them too. They can do acupressure/herbs with a kid and avoid needles if you want. It works great with skin conditions.

:)

ETA: Hannah - I don't know if Salisbury is too far a haul for you, but Katine Martin does women/children/midwifery there.
