So, I KNOW its early but is anyone thinking of what they want to name their little one yet? If so, what do you all have in mind?

I have no idea. With dd I just knew what her name was right from the beginning. Almost like she was telling me that it was her name. Dh didn't like it, but I completely disregarded his feelings and gave her the name anyway. :bag: (he loves it now though, it suits her perfectly) So this time out of fairness I'm going to let dh pick the name. He doesn't seem all that interested right now, maybe later when the pregnancy seems more real.

It seems to be the topic of most conversations. We have a few names picked out but the top ones are Leigh for a girl, and Aaron for a boy. There are several others, and we plan to get a baby name book just to be sure we've thought of everything. :)

We decided to name the baby after his best friend, Alan Matthew if it is a boy or Alana Madison if it is a girl.
Secretly I am hoping for a boy because I like Alan Matthew better than ALana Madison. :duck:

We have lots of options already, but DH doesn't want to think about names until the third tri. Even then, we will have several choices for each gender and wait to pick the actual name until after the birth. We won't be sharing our decisions with anyone (not even online) until after the birth certificate has been filled out.

DH and I picked out names on our fourth or fifth date.
Then last year, we discovered that our top choice for a boy is actually his uncle's given name (and the name given to uncle's recently born son)!
So that one's out.
Now that we are actually expecting, I've discovered a new girl's name that I love, and will spend the next eight months convincing my beloved to go along with me (assuming the bean turns out to be a girl, of course!).

I started picking out names last October when I convinced the hubster to finally have #4. I won't be finding out the sex of the baby, so we will need to pick one of each. Tough work!
We have a hard time agreeing, but I will be a bit more adamant this time as it seems I never get THE name I want. I am tossing the one I have wanted for all three of my kids and picking other things and sticking to it :wink

If its a girl the name will be Zara Isabelle. No boy names yet & we've been working on it for 5 years! Everything seems too trendy or weird.

So far just 'The Lentil'!
I have a few ideas, but now that I am actually pregnant I don't like them anymore.

Right now it's Thor2. :p (ds was Thor when he was in utero)
We do have 2 first names that we love- Cate for a girl and Dylan for a boy. But I have been known to change my mind. a lot. ;)

We've been talking names ever since before DS was born. Girl will be Solana Lorena (partly b/c I love Spanish names and my DH is of Puerto Rican descent, and partly b/c it's a play on both grandmoms names - DH's mom is Solmarie and mine is Lorraine).
Boy will be Joaquin, not sure on the middle name though (not too surprising, we had DS's first name picked out about 2 months before he was born, but we didn't choose a middle name until right after the birth!)

If we have a boy, he'll be Maximilian Paul, if we have a girl, we're leaning toward Grace Elizabeth. But the girl name isn't set in stone, yet.
Who am I kidding - there are no girls in DH's family... we have 3 boys so far... girl names are a moot point. :lol

We've got a list of names started pre conception and now we are consentrating on that. It's going to take this whole pregnancy to come up w/ a name.... :lol

We still have lists from DS.
But, yes - I am.
I don't want to share, because everyone stole (Stole I say!!) my Olivers name. :o
[Or maybe thats just my ego talking. :lol]
But, I get new name ideas by reading others - so, I'll throw down my cards too. :grouphug
I'm trying to think girl as much as possible, so only going for girl ideas. We wont name her (or him) until we get to know her (him.)
Aurelia
Lucia (Lu-Sha, the italian version, not Lu-Se-Uh)
Philomena (Had a neighbor who named her daughter this 3 years ago, I didn't like it much at first, but it Really grew on me. See, now 'I' am the name theft. :bag:)

I'm terrified of trying to find a name we love!!!:lol We like such unique names. Our last one (Xeowyn, "ZAY-oh-win") came to me in a dream when I was 5 weeks along. I keep hoping that will happen again!! Haha. I have no ideas at all yet. The only thing I know is that if it's a girl her middle name will be Lynne after my beloved deceased grandma.

If I have a boy, the name is picked. We've had that picked for a WHILE.
If it's a girl, who knows? Maybe I'll actually get to use the middle name I wanted for DD2, which was Noa. :o

Baby names....I thought about this even before I was pregnant. My DH is deaf so it was important when deciding to keep it simple. If a girl we will name her Lily-Rose and if a boy Aspen but who knows it could change as soon as the baby pops out one never knows....

Funny my DH was the same. I told him if a girl I would pick if a boy he could pick but he said no no no you pick so I came up with some names and he kept saying no to the ones I would pick? Men, funny. Now we decided Boy-Aspen and Girl-Lily-Rose.....

If we have a boy, I'm really pretty set on Rhys David. I don't know that DH agrees me, but I'm set on it enough that I'm willing to pull rank. :)
If we have a girl, I have no idea. We had a whole slate of M names picked out last time... Maia, Miranda, Meredith, etc. We were pretty sure we were going with Maia, and then ended up with a little boy for whom we couldn't decide on a name until 36 weeks and our family was going crazy. So I'm hoping that my name indecision means we're likely to have a girl this time. :)
(Also, DH desperately wants this pregnancy to be boy/boy twins so he can name them James and Jack for his favorite Doctor Who characters. :eyeroll)

I need B names! Any suggestions? I haven't thought about it too much because I'm waiting for the ultrasound Wednesday before I even believe I'm pregnant :dizzy: but my dh is insisting on a B name after his mom who passed away. I want Oscar for a boy, but since my dh is normally so agreeable, and really seems to be firm on the B thing, I'm at least giving it a try!

B names? Here are a couple: Buffy, Brandon, Blake, Beyonce, Barron, Bambi, Baker, Benji, Barrett, Banks,Becka, Bea, Benson-Those are a couple I can think of on the top of my head.
As for us naming our child: we want to honor our last child who passed away this past May, so...
Boy: Sean Jaden (Jaden means, "God has heard us")
Girl: Natalie Maria (Natalie means "Gift")

I change my mind daily about names. If we have a girl though I have to use some version of Elizabeth after my grandmother. I liked Isabella, until I found out how popular it was so Isabel, and Isabella are out. I may just go with Elizabeth. We also like the name Alexandra though.
If it's a boy, the middle name will be Crescencio after DP grandfather, I think it will be Alexander Cresecencio if it's a boy-however those are the names this week.
I keep trying to convice DP that "Ringo Starr" is an awesome name but I keep getting pillows thrown at me when I mention it!:lol :lol

Girl - Myla Jaden
Boy - Cayden (don't know yet about middle name)
This may change but I've been pretty set on both names for a while now:)

I have really been in love with the name August for a boy. (or Augusten, and August for short - I love Augusten Burroughs!) However, almost everyone I know hates the name. I recently found out that it's now being used as a girl's name! Does anyone know any Augusts, boy or girl?
I have about 10 baby naming books and have kept lists for years, but I am actually no closer to choosing names now that I'm actually pregnant! A lot of names I've considered are too trendy now, and I'm leaning towards more traditional names, although I really prefer something slightly unusual. Perhaps it will be Baby Bean forever.
I do intend (hope!) to have a couple for each gender picked out and then make the final decision after meeting the little person after birth.

We have a very old letter in which my gmother's relative writes, "Baby's walking now. Guess we really oughta give him a name." :lol
I Does anyone know any Augusts, boy or girl?
I new a little boy who I think was Augustus in Maryland in the early 90's (he was about 5 or 6 years old) We called him Auggie.
DH was insisting on Nora or Belle (his gmother's names) and I didn't like either, so we put them together and go Noelle, which I really like. He keeps trying to put it as the middle name and I want it as her first name.
We've discussed Micah or Jonah if it's a boy.
DD wants Charlotte for a girl (and says Noelle Charlotte sounds good to her) and Wilbert :p for a boy.

I am having major name issues already...lol!
I need a boy name, all the boy names I have liked were taken by friends or have become too popular.
I like MILO, but we named our cat MILO.
Here is my issue, I have had a boys name picked out for a few years now that I was set on...FINN, but last year our nephew passed away right after his birth and his name was QUINN. Do you think it would be tacky to have a name that rhymed with his passed cousin? It isn't on purpose since I had the name picked out for a while. But I don't want to hurt any feelings. Am I being paranoid or should I pick a new name?
I also kind of like SAMSON and SOLOMAN , but my daughter is SOPHIE. and that may be too many S's.
By the way,When I picked Sophie 7 years ago I though I was really creative, i had never met another Sophie in my life, but now it is as popular as Jennifer was when I was little. ahh well. That happen with the name Ruby too, my friend was the first person I knew to ever have a Ruby, now there are SO MANY!
I have a girl name picked, but I am afraid to say it..lol.

When DS was one DH and I went and saw "XXX "( triple x the movie w/ Vin deisel, NOT A XXX movie lol) any way as soon as we heard the name Xander (ZAN - Der) we thought it was cool and decided to name our next boy that! (blush) that was 6 years ago and we still love the name Xander so yup Xander if its a boy and I think Bailey if its a girl unless I can convince Dh to go w/ Layla instead! ( I doubt it)

Why are you afraid to say the girl name??
I think Finn would be fine especially since Quinn is probably not a name used a lot around the family since he is passed. Might be a nice tribute actually. :)
I like Soloman too. Do you think the nickname Solo (like so-low) is too weird?
mamablueberry
05-24-2007, 04:36 PM
Wife&Mommy-
If we go with Soloman I was thinking of Sol like Saul for a nickname. Solo is cute too though. Our neighbors son is Moso..kind of similar.
Yes, I still really like the name Finn. I was thinking maybe Finnley Soloman...as the full name, but we would call him Finn. I am still worried it may hurt my husband's brother's feelings. Maybe we will suggest the name a little later on to the family and see how they feel about it.,maybe I am just being paranoid.

My favorite names over the past couple years are my first choices. I don't want to decide 100% until I see the baby but I do have a top girl choice and a top boy choice and no real other names.

Wholewheatmama: I love those formal latin names, like August or Augustin. they're gorgeous and have thousands of years of tradition behind them and are hardly being used anymore. I wanted to throw "Minerva" in the ring for a potential little girl, but dh nixed it so I might have to live vicariously through you. :)
We're still duking it out over girl's names. Audra/Audrey has entered the ring, Helena is a strong contender, and I'm kind of hoping we can get something welsh to go with our set-in-freakin'-stone boy's name (Rhys David). My FIL is subtly insisting on Dorcas, which is so very not an option. We've set the baby name book up as potty-reading, so at least we're thinking about it. :)

Is there a difference in meaning for Soloman and Solomon? I've always seen it Solomon and for some reason that's a lot easier on my eyes...maybe it's just me. I do like the sound of the name though and don't think it would be too many S's :) Good luck!

With DD I really liked Fiona, Penelope and Xylia, but somehow we named her Cora :lol
With this baby I am thinking of Penelope again, although dh hates it. I also like Vera, Ophelia, Aibhlinn and Holly
For a boy, we are kind of stuck. I like Noam, and Cassius. We have a really hard time agreeing, we might go with Gaven, spelled that way because my grandfather's name was Iven and my dad's name was Gary so it's kind of a blend of names.... but I also hate making up silly spellings so we shall see.
