Are you in the Twin Cities?

Well, then you have found your tribe! Despite our diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and interests, two things bond us together: living in the coldest state on earth...and the love for our children which warms us. The weekly tribe thread begins anew each saturday. Watch for the new thread on the main Minnesota/Wisconsin board.

Some of the individuals who post here meet weekly. If you are interested in attending a get together, please post your interest on the thread or send any one of us a pm. We welcome with open arms and minds the input of all parents, regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, political view, age, sex, sexual orientation, disability, etc.

ooh, sara mama, i am so sorry to hear about the countertop woes! i totally agree with those saying hold back payment due to their damage! and sorry to hear ab9ut the kitty too...love to you all! how is S taking the loss of the cat? hug him for us!

moon--there's always the next class!! get your butt out there momma! it is so hard to do things like that solo though, i hear you! i felt that way, all shy and whatnot, the first time i went to a scrapbooking night. but i NEEDED the me time, so i just breathed deeply and walked in there and did my thing.

snow--caught up on your sleep yet?

DS had some kind of virus, hence the wheezing. he was better yesterday, but still wheezy. but at least at bedtime he could breath w/o rattling. the night before he was breathing like he was in labor, purposefully, just so he wouldn't hear that weird noise. so she gave a script for albuteral, but said not to fill it, unless this keeps recurring. good thing, b/c that stuff WIRES kids!

but it was nice to be out of work early yesterday! and then kids napped only in the car driving home as opposed to their school nap, so we did get them to bed a bit earlier. i was all set to watch Memento (again) but slept through most of it. needed the sleep more than watching the movie again, i guess...

never made it to help Brown...eek! bad me! but with the rain and A's breathing...

ok, so gotta get us moving so we can get to SG this AM. we ARE gonna be there (esp so i can get my caffeine fix--ran out of milk and cream and never made it to the store yesterday, so i am drinking crappy coffee w/o the add-ons. tolerable, but not YUMMY)

LOVE YA ALL!

i can't believe we only filled up ONE page last week! i think that's a first. guess we've all been enjoying the spring weather...

oh sara! what a week! i was laying in bed the other night feeling the baby move...and was thinking about you and if you're new bundle had arrived yet...and there you were dealing with so much!

:bf Twin Cities-Attachment Parenting International (API) TODAY! - hope to see some of you there. i know it some are a bit miffed that it overlaps with SG (and today, brown's move), but we're working on adding other times for future meetings. there will be at least 2 others (a morning in ne mpls, an week night in s. mpls, and maybe a week night in stp in addition to sat). again, today's meeting is at the hamline/midway library off at snelling and minnehaha from 11-1. if you'd like updates on future meetings, please pm me your email and snail mail...and/or check out our website which will be up and running soon (www.twincitiesapi.org).

have a lush weekend everyone!

so good to get to SG this AM and see some of you! and ann, it was SO SO GOOD to see you and yours!! it has been so long!
it was a quiet time there, perhaps for the best, as before we left to go A was saying he didn't want to go b/c there are usually so many people and no space for him to play. it was quite the opposite today, as StarFire's DS and niece were the only big kids and they were quite content to play cards.
and i got to snuggle w/ StarFire's wee one as she slept and slept. mmm, she smelled so good, of Apricot Baby Oil...miss that wee baby sleeping on me, but am glad to be able to be an independant momma, as independant as a momma can be!! (KWIM?!?!)

ok, as i have posted here 2X in one day, feeling quite hoggish compared to my usual days-between-posting self!

and SCRIBBLER--where are you?? miss your wise and witty words!

battymomma, jessikate, starfire, julia--it was great sitting around sg with you this morning :) Hopefully, I'll be a definite mom-to-be soon. jessikate brought me to Peapods on the way home--what a fun store! I bought a teeny-tiny Kissaluvs that I'll hide until I someday see that :+ and I can tell dh by giving him the diaper. You ladies will be wonderful in helping me know what I need and what I don't. Next Saturday I'll know whether this cycle is successful or not.

Thanks for the fun chat!

hey mamas!!!!!!~

batty...i know what you mean. i miss little babies, but it is so nice to have ds walking, talking, and doing chores!

scrib...yeah where are you? i was thinking about you the day before yesterday.

amy...good luck getting pg! have you tried getting drunk, and doing it in dh's parent's car, in your parent's driveway, in the middle of the night? works for millions of teens. ;-)

supi...awwww. what does e think when she feels the babe move?

went to goodwill yesterday and scored! i bought ds a huge wooden art easel that has a chalkboard on one side. it is in perfect condition! only $6.

question...is it safe to use aluminum baking things (tins, pans, molds)?

daam...aunt flo sucks!!!!!!!! omm i hate the first few days of a period.

Kat, I think using aluminum occasionally is fine. But I have heard differently about tin foil on the grill. But I have mostly glass bakeware. And the studies linking it to alzheimer's etc..have not been proven...so I guess I would not stress. BUT..I feel differently about plastic and saran wrap in the microwave. The studies linking hot plastics to leeching carcinogens have been proven. And one thing I never soaked in is that includes putting hot food in tupperware or even on a kiddy plastic plate. So I always cool Cha Cha's food before I put it on plastic. I recently heard that the reason microwave popcorn is real bad is not as much the hydrogenated oils and using the microwaves but the coating that is used in the bag so it does not catch on fire is a carcinogen. God this stuff is hard and makes so much sense. Remember I am your Lays Sour Creme Chip MSG girl on road trips and we are known to drive through McDonalds when in a pinch. So I am not a purist.

FYI, I met Scribbler up at the Consignment Shop yesterday and she is well. I will let her know she is missed.

Okay daam..........carbon monoxide alarm beeped from 6:00 a.m. till 7:45 a.m. Somehow I fell back asleep telling myself it is a bird chirping, low battery or something. Finally I woke up DH cuz I was going crazy. And then he could not remember where it was and we were both looking for it. No coffee yet. Crabby as hell. Finally he found it behind the hutch. He hides stuff like that cuz he thinks it takes away from our antiquey looking decor.

Daam....2....Como Zoo is not free today. They are having a fund-raiser and granted it will be extra cool and stuff. We have not been there this year. Charlie wants to see animals. I am sick of the MN Zoo where we are members so thought let's go to Como and I find out it is $10.00 per person including kids over age 2. $30.00 for our family. Our zoo membership was $49.00 WAH!! I thought we had our day figured out.

Edited to add. Spryte finally got a chance to type this up. http://216.92.20.151/discussions/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=88

Brown etc.... speaking of grieving. I cried all the way to playgroup cuz I miss being single with my cat Sprocket and my apartment I had on Pleasant by Present Moments for 14 years. This does not mean I don't love my life with DH and Charlie but I miss me. I feel so out of touch with me. Will I ever get me back? Probably not.

Anyway then...yesterday at Consignment Shop Number 2 I all of a sudden remembered being there with Charlie in the sling and nursing him sitting on the floor, bending over to the bottom rack looking for sizes 6-12 months and I started crying in the consignment shop. Oh I miss my baby.

Hi all! Sorry to miss SG yesterday but the toe wasn't up to meandering.:angry How would that go? 99.5% of the flesh was willing and the spirit was but that dang toe......

I also have big news!!!

Willow took her first steps on Friday evening!!! She'll only walk if someone's in front to catch her. My baby is walking!!!! She gets so proud of herself, it's soooo funny. When she's standing there she is concentrating soo hard, then she claps her hands. My crazy willow-monster.

I had my surgery. I think it went well. I ended up filing a complaint against the surgeon, he's an ignorant weenie.
I got yelled at for calling anesthia(sp?) to see what they were using. then got yelled at some more for talking to LC about what meds I could have. Weenie dr. said LC's have no knowledge or training concerning meds. and nursing moms!:angry :eek
Brent took the girls and ran errands so I was alone coming out.
W.dr. decides that while I'm sedated is the perfect time to explain bandage care and all that stuff. I don't remember stuff I'm told while I'm sleeping so that set off another tirade when I called him on Fri. I told the complaint lady that I'd handle the follow up care myself if my dr. couldn't see me. i also told her this guy wasn't getting near my feet again, unless he wanted to get kicked off his stool!:p

Any new babies yet????

Saramama- I wouldn't pay. After causing that kind of damage someone owes you some seriuos cash. You call them and get crabby- the squeaky wheel gets the cash!

i'll be at SG on Sat......will need out of the house or I'll be in the looney bin.

Hanging in there being bitchy!

Last day was fun! -- got an offer to teach 2nd semester so I'm psyched.

As for the bloody countertops, well we already paid for them....the co's owner is supposed to be calling DH, so we'll see....I have the blood for raising a stink, so if they don't get back to DH right away I'll be calling the BBB and Home Depot (where we bought them.) etc.

DS is pushing my buttons today. Makes me really wonder if I can handle the stay at home gig...DH says I have every right to be moody and once we get into a routine I'll have lots of fun.

Yes, still PG -- AND just so you all know, my big pet peeve is people asking me that! Trust me! We'll let you know! I'm due anytime, which means anytime in the next two weeks.

What weird weather!

We went to the farmers market today and then made rhubarb crisp, but I think I need a better recipe. Anyone have one that has a bottom crust?

oh man sara that drives me NUTS - and i'm not preg!!! my boss is about 25 weeks, and sees 20-30 clients a day, and EVERY SINGLE ONE asks about her belly! i seriously do not know if i can smile and say "yes she is cute, isn't she?" for another week, let alone three months!!!!

Oh, good labor thoughts to Autumn! I think the HealthEast hospitals are great (at least St. Joe's was), and I love most of the midwives. I really hope everyhing goes well.

Thanks for the update, KJ!

No SG for us this week - it's my grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary party. I am so excited - my mom and sister will be here Friday and we're all heading down to Rochester on Saturday. There will be so many people there I haven't seen, and Gracie will get to meet so many people.

Should really be off to run errands now...

Welcome home, Brown! I'm glad you like it there.

Happy Labor thoughts Autumn!!! Woodwinds is a great hospital from what I've heard.

Moon- you're right A.F. sucks. I need a Keeper, tampons are too darn spendy!

DAAM- I heard that Trading Spaces is coming to MN for 2 wks this month. I must find out where. I want to bring Ty home in my pocket.lol Think dh would notice or mind? Plus Skye isn't sure that Amy Wynn really builds stuff, gee could that be her bio-dads' influence? i wish my house were big enough to get on the show....

Brown- How'd the move go? Lovin the new digs?

Hey mommas! Posting for KJ and DoulahSarah right now. Autumn R. is having a very difficult time and is dilated to a 3. Apparently the midwives are starting to whisper and worry about how long she has been laboring. If we all can send some positive energy and *opening* thoughts her way I am sure it would help her out.

DoulahSarah also said that they are not sure her water broke last night, instead it may have just leaked. So that is why they are nudging to move things along. She is at Woodwinds which should be pretty laid back so hopefully she will have the kind of birth she wants. Her labor with Rainy was very traumatic. So

Aira, (that will be her daughter's name) We are waiting, Turn sweet girl. And Autumn know we are with you right now.

Turn Baby
Open Autumn
Welcome Aira!

SaraMama we are thinking of you too!

Turn? Is the little one "sunny side up"? Gracie was turned a bit when I was in labor with her, & I think it added time on to our labor, what with that anterior lip that wouldn't go away for 2 hours.

Anyhow... turn your little head, Aira!

I love that name, is it pronounced Air-a, or like "Ira" or what? I hadn't heard that the babe was a girl, but I have been seeing images of Autumn holding a beautiful little girl.

I have ideas about the other pregnant mamas' babies genders if you want to hear them... :D

Come on, Autumn and Aira!

Hi mamas, just popping in, am opening an opera this week so tres busy but not nearly as bad as before. Q is working for me as one of the crew!

Did anyone else see the great artical on Ariel Gore on the back page of the Strib's variety section today (meaning today=Monday!). She looks so much like Natalia in that picture. Julia & I are taking a writing workshop w/ her at the mamagathering - woo hoo!

SaraMama - am with you baby - there is nothing that made me angrier in my final few wks of pregnancy, especially w/ Q who was almost 2 wks "late". GRRR It made me feel like I was letting people down when there was no baby yet or something bizarre like that. Am hoping we can get some of the dharma done if there is time between the opera opening this Thurs and the babe's arrival if you're up to it (ordering). And Jessikate - I'll bite - what gender is Sara having then?

Best wishes to the other Autumn w/ her labor

DAAM - Q graduates from the 8th grade tomorrow (Tues) morning.

Yaaay Autumn R., and welcome Aira! So glad things worked out the way you wanted them to.

Yes, I am posting, this one time at least. Kaje told me to come over and I've been trying to figure out how to finesse this post. Since I didn't make an announcement at the beginning of my absence, it seems so awkward now, in the middle of it. It feels overly melodramatic and unnecessary to go into it all. Suffice it to say that I love all you gals and miss you! Thanks so much for thinking of me, it means a lot.

We are definitely going camping, so maybe we will see some of you then?? And even though we aren't at the usual spot on Saturdays, we are definitely about town as much as we can be given our limited time and mobility.

willowsmama: So E and I were baking cookies Sunday afternoon, something *you* obviously haven't been eating of late. I made it downstairs just in time to see a stranger in the form of a shapely woman leaving our house to drive away. The delivery helped me figure it out. You look soooo so awesome!

Vibes to those who are healing, working like crazy, pregnant, and all the rest.

Sara Mama
06-10-2003, 08:31 AM
Yeah Autumn R!!!! Congrats!

SNOW - DHARMA is totally doable. Give me a call today at home if you can. or tonight. DH has the day off. And I want to go to the opera ...any night is fine, and wonderful article on Ariel Gore...you will have so much fun.

Kate - explinations are not needed. Just wonderful to see your words! Also, I am totally into your DH doing the St. Paul market. I'm going to research it and give him a call. He would be fabulous! My DH thought so as well.

DAAM Ummm, my hips are giving me heck, so I'm off to the chiro sometime today and then to swim.

First day home was awesome. Spent it at the zoo, which is prolly why my hips hurt so much (hours of walking after all!)

COookies HmmmmmMMMM, have oven, will now attempt!

Jessikate - do you still have any rhubarb left? I need to drop that wool off for you too!

Congratulations to Autumn on the new arrival!

willowsmama ~ do you know when Trading Spaces will be here? I love that show!

Saige went to bed at 6:45 this morning and woke up at 11:30 and 4:30 to nurse. She got for the day at 6:15 and climbed off the bed. DH followed her and she walked to the bathroom and lifted up the toilet lid and put the potty chair insert on it. She tried taking her diaper off so dh helped her and put her on the toilet and she immedietly went potty!:D She loves to sit on the toilet and "wipe" with a chunk of toilet paper. Maybe she will be early at potty training. Kalyn potty trained herself at 2.5. I'm so excited! She's not even 15 months yet! Where did my baby go?! :crying

All the pregnant mamas ~ Sending some good healthy vibes to you! :dust

Hello all! Autumn loved your opening vibes. I told her last night that you all were thinking about her and wishing her opening and turning contractions. In case you didn't know, Aira is 8#14 ounces. When one pregnancy ends another begins?

I'm due for AF in two or three days and my chest has been achy since Saturday. I broke down and bought a pack of hpt's today, so my testing begins tomorrow. I'm starting to feel positive about this--maybe the MN board needs to maintain a constant number of pregos now that Aira's here?

Batty - Glad for the good news on Alex. Is he still doing well? Did he see Holly? We need to get in there! :)

SaraMama - Good vibes your way. Those last couple of weeks are the longest of anyone's life! Is there any new developments on the cupboards? I would still love to get together with you at some point to dye some clothes! No pressure for anytime soon, just at some point.

The API meeting went really well, and we are going to be announcing the dates for the next meetings soon. We will post something - would love to see you all there!

AmyRobyne - any results?

Curvie and Hugos are definitely coming to the mamagathering?!!! hoo boy - those hotel rooms are gonna be hopping! (maybe I should reserve a 3rd rm too, or we could just all be cozy - wheee!)
All you other beautiful tribal mamas, you are SO welcome to join us in KatLand for the weekend July 11-13 for some great workshops and fun and wild times at the Radisson, go to www.mamagathering.com for more info. So far we have:Moongloe, Oliviasmama, Becca, Natalia, Curvie, Hugos and me, and Cattrane is a definite possibility & we're working on Lundy. Some are bringing progeny, others are not, doesn't matter either way.

Saramama - I'll try to call you tomorrow, still in the throes of getting the show up and living at the opera. You could come tomorrow eve for the final dress if you want, J too, or else the Thurs mat - and once it opens Thurs I can play w/dharma anytime. So glad you are free now, hope those hips are feeling better.
Great to see Scribbler popping in!
And now Curvie and U and littleQ are going to be in my neighborhood too? Life is too good I tell ya. You'll all love the Washburn library, great AC in the summer and the girls just walk on over all the time for more books.

Q's graduation was very emotional - for me that is - ha My baby is getting bigger, out grew her middle school and on to high school now, *sigh*, boys in hot pursuit and D with his baseball bat glowering at any that dare to come near. Meanwhile The Midget draws butterflies and dreams of preschool.

snow - please give my congrats to q (and to her mama!). she is such a great kid.

well, warning/vent...we're SICK :sick

e was a little fussy yesterday, but nothing too major. my throat started hurting last night, but at first i thought it was dehydration and being on the phone too much over the last week (api and also calling 30+ memebers of the csa organic farm we're members of to recruit volunteers). anyway, e usually sleeps most of the night in the crib, only w/ us from about 4am on...but last night she was so fussy i brought her in with me at 10pm and we tossed and turned together all night. i think its going to be a day of tea w/ honey and lemon...and a lot of cuddling and watching videos. :(

 warning - jessikate, i hope we didn't contaminate you. at least g was asleep...but i'll feel awful if we passed on any germs unknowingly. "bread, great! thanks! here's some lettuce and some germs!" :(

vent - i called my mom to see if she could come down and help. why do i even bother? i know some of you don't have anyone to even call, so i feel selfish venting...but i feel like having someone to call who always says "no, i can't, i'm going to the dentist or have a picnic or have a meeting or need to water my orchids" is just as bad as having no one at all. i've even told her to just LIE to me...lie and say she'll try, even if she won't, and then call me later to tell me she can't. i dunno. i guess my expectations are just unrealistic. i have a lot of support from friends and the tribe...but in circumstances like this, when i don't want to get anyone else sick, who can i call? my mom and dh never get sick, but it seems unfair to ask dh to miss work when my mom doesn't even feel justified in skipping a picnic in order to help her sick, pg dd and sick, fussy grandchild. okay, pity party over. thanks for letting me vent.

*shreik* Congratulations, Amy! :banana Lucky you! Did you tell your DH yet?

Supi - that stinks that you're sick and stinks even more that your Mom won't come help a little. Let me know if I can do anything for you... I don't get sick very often, so I should be safe. Just have to leave G with her daddy if I'm around you, LOL.

What is up with this weather? It's so depressing. I've got a headache, too. Maybe I'll feel better if I get some sewing done. Of course, G will probably wake up as soon as I get going. That's how it usually is. *sigh*

SaraMama, you are gorgeous. I love hugely pregnant bellies. I miss mine (though not the accompanying (sp?) discomfort). I'm so excited for your babe to get here.

Oh, and Snow, here are my baby predictions:
SaraMama -- girl
Kaje -- boy
Mamarsupial -- boy (although I really want it to be a girl - there aren't enough little girls in the neighborhood)
Amyrobynne: too soon to tell for sure, but I'm thinking boy right now.

What do you mommas think? Am I right about you?

Oh, I must have missed this: Willow's walking! Congrats to Willow & family! I bet she's so pleased with herself! :)

Enough babbling from me, lol :nut

jessikate--thanks for the prediction! I checked out the Chinese calendar chart a couple weeks ago, and I'm right on the edge. I THINK I ovulated May 31, but it could have been a day on either side. May is girl, June is boy. Not sure if we'll find out when we get to that point. I'm telling DH tonight when he gets home from class--I'll put a Father's Day card and the diaper we bought and the test on our bed and see how long it takes for him to notice!

Interesting... The Chinese gender thingy (forget exactly what it's called) was correct for my little girl.

Trying to cut fabric for a sling and between G waking up constantly and the cats taking over the fabric when I'm not looking, I doubt it'll ever get finished. When I finally DO get it cut, it'll maybe take 1/2 hour to sew if I have no interruptions. Will post a picture when it's finished.

Baby's waking up again. Good grief.

snow - you have two lines too??

jessikate - thanks for offering. i'm usually healthy as a horse too...so who knows whats goin' on.

as for the predictions...most folks seem to think we're having a boy. for some reason, we've only been discussing boy names. e said once she though its a purple girl. guess we'll find out one way or the other soon enough!

kaje is having a boy according to the u/s, right kaje?

not sure about saramama. she has such strong feminine energy that i think girl...but who knows.

Right now I'm tempted to get out the map and start at 1 end and go to the other!!!!!!!Mamas- Any ideas on how to find out where exactly?

Hey Yaalllll!

Hanging in there! Had my first ever play date over here! Pretty exciting

SUPI - I totally wish I could change your mom. Maybe you need to have a conversation with her in person, alone, when you don't need her and explain how what she does hurts you so much and that you wouldn't ask if you really didn't need help. Listen to what she says and come up with some solutions...we can talk more later if you like. Despite how awesome my parents are, they still do really hurtful things on occasion -- who doesn't? So then we sit down and really talk about it uninterrupted. They don't always agree with me that what they have done is hurtful or wrong or ... but we usually can come to some compromise -- like when I tell them something is confidential that means don't tell my siblings -- yes we are close, but to me confidential means confidential -- and they don't, but they do abide by my wishes because it is so important to me. Not sure this helps, but....I'm there for you babe!

Snow - graduation?! WOW! Opera, yes! Must talk to DH. Also, you are welcome to stop by on the way to matinee or rehearsal etc.

Jessikate -- you are too sweet!

Gender -- the chinese think it's a girl, my entire family from day one has thought so and ds, well all he says is "SISTER!" --- so I think they are prolly right, although we have no names picked out!

AMY - Congrats -- I'm the soon to be mama to two faint positives!!! And user of many HPT's.

Gotta run and sew while I've got the chance...

Curvie!!! YES, YES - dyeing, Sue and I will be soon. Prolly on a Friday as DH has bunches of 3 day weekends coming up!

MAMA GATHERING - so jealous!

mamarsupial

here are some more predictions...

chinese gender predictor: It's a boy!_

heartbeat: 150 bpm (slower than e, who was always 160 bpm...means boy?)

old wives' tales test (http://www.amazingpregnancy.com/oldwivestales/) indicates that you are having a girl!

test @ childbirth.org (http://www.childbirth.org/articles/boyorgirl.html)= 72% chance of having a girl.

so...who knows.

edit to add: sara mama - i pm'd you on your supportive thoughts. you rule, woman.

Oh I love littlecurvie.

We went through all Charlie's clothes today and organized. Thank you sweet sister of mine!!! I am so relieved. And Elaine, I have such a cute Halloween costume for Jasper.

And Jessikate thank you for stopping by with cokes. You are so sweet.

Anyway Autumn, we did not find out the sex at the ultrasound. I wanted to find out this time but DH did not cuz he thinks if we did and they were wrong I would be mad for awhile so he decided it is best to not find out.

In this pregnancy and with Charlie, all I said is I want is a healthy baby and did not care about the sex. Because of the m/c, being 41 and now a VBAC that has been my biggest hope. But all of a sudden the last couple weeks, I started to think about it and realized even though I adore Charlie I will be a teeny bit sad if I have a boy cuz that means I will never have a girl as this will be our last baby. I feel guilty for having these thoughts and stuff. It is interesting Jessikate that you think boy cuz most of my friends think girl, with Spryte and Katie being leader of the packs but I am really trying not to focus on that. Cuz I want to be back to just a healthy baby is what I want. But then......we have really struggled with boys names right now the names we have for a girl it will be Angelyn RoseMarie and for a boy Edward John. And if it is a boy, I think Charlie and Eddie sound great for brothers names.

Wow forgot to tell you all, I got an email from Rhiannon. She is three weeks away from delivery. Doing well and busy. Was nice to hear from her.

Hey mommas!:) Wow, so much to catch up on! For some reason I haven't been getting any notifications of new posts, and thought you all were being super quiet! Don't know what the deal is with my email lately...oh well, glad you all are here and posting away!:p I have been busy learning the recorder and now attempting to learn how to knit (Summerlover, I need you!;) ); I need to go through this all so I am ready for Alec's first grade curriculum in the fall. And, did someone else mention this cloudy, crappy weather?!? It has been driving me nutty~ I need some sunshine!:sunshine :nod

Mamar~ I am so sorry for your sickies and for what you are going through with your mom!:hug I think Sara Mama's words are very wise. I hope things work out, and that you all feel better soon.

KJ~ I think it is totally natural to want a girl. :love

Congratulations Amy!!:balloons :baby

Willowsmama and Moon~ Totally with you on the Ty thing, but Littlecurvie is right: Andrew dan Jumbo is very handsome! Hope you find where they are filming! I did see Doug on channel 4 news the other day... wonder who the other designer is...? Maybe Genevieve, as she is from here.

Snow~ Congratulations to you and Q!!:thumb

Littlecurvie~ You guys are moving too, huh? Cool!:D

I so wish I could go to the mamagathering.

Brown sorry about Dave and his loss
Autumn sorry about mom, I have a vacant mom so I understand. Lundy asked me once what my old quote meant

You can't go to the hardware store to buy milk.

And what that means is you ask mom to be there and she says no. It can be really painful when we show up in the wrong place to get our needs met.

Speaking of...doing the inlaw gig tonite. sil's 30th so wish me luck and other sil still not going. she is still not speaking to her family. gross help me can't stand it.

Hey there all!

Such fun fun fun news! Welcome Aira! Congrats to AmyRobyne!

w.o.w.

...and crossing fingers and toes for Curvie and fam to be right here!

Well, we landed! Pretty soft landing! I went right from moving into a homeschooling workshop all week-end through monday. It was held mostly in Stillwater. It looks like I'll be homeschooling Fish. So really we are just landing now!

Moon and all, I really really would like to go to the Mamagathering. I could if the funds were in! My hipMama heart is crackin'! Maybe I'll hit the Casino with my grandparents and hope for beginners luck? Pathetic, I know...but I'm desperate! hehe My cousin Jason is there trying to get famous, I'd love to see him, too!

Oh, Snow, I'd love to see that article if you clipped it.

THANK YOU to all who helped make this move so so so so so much less painful than the last. That includes those of you who just thought good thoughts. In fact, there was no pain at all, it really went just fine...lots of hands. Today I picked up the next to last loads, so I'm almost fully here and can start really setting up HOME. Much needed!

SummerLiz, Gully, Symbi, Monkey, Olivias Papa, Lil Curvie, Hugos...extra special thanks for your presence. It felt like a celebration! Blessingway needs have hardly even crossed my mind it feels so good.

We are busy busy and I don't want this machine to suck me up and distract from the great un-pack a thon, so that is about it from me for now!

Peace to all.

Ok, back to our regularly scheduled programming...

Scribbler - been thinking a lot about you for some reason. glad to read from you!

MaMar - ickie sickies! The site looks absolutely fab, btw. And this crap with yer mom has gone on for sooo long, and it just sucks. Yer always supposed to be able to turn to your momma, right? :crap

angela--??garage sale redo?? any ideas as to date, esp now that you are really going to have to unjunkify?

A is doing much better, but his ears seemed clogged or something...he is mishearing so much, and it is funny while frustrating. and he sees Mary Blomberg over there when i can get him into her, esp since she is the mom of his classmate. we haven't seen Holly for quite a while and i am so happy w/ Mary.

DAAM--i found out i won tix for MARTIN ZELLAR AND THE HARDWAYS at the zoo Sat eve!! Drive 105!! so cool, but problems due to MIL being out of town and supposed to go to FIL's for an early Fathers Day dinner...but things will work out, even if it means DH stays here w/ the kids, esp since i think DH is going w/ my bro to see Pearl Jam monday eve (and that was supposed my date" with my bro...)

MaMar - so sorry about the mom thing. I have lots of similar things. We should get together for a pity party some time! :hug

Just so you guys all know....the move isn't FOR SURE....yet. He called us today to give us some more info, it looks good. Keep everything crossed for me.....!!!

Snow - Congrats on Q! I can't wait to live by you!!! And don't worry about the rooms - I will be more than willing to sleep on the floor as long as I can be there! :) SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!

Amy - CONGRATS!!!

Wow, I can't believe that Rhiannon is that close. Where does the time go? Is she going to come to SG with the babe when it is born?

JessiKate - Thanks for stopping by KJ's today! It was nice to see you! :love

Katie - don't you just love the lamb smiley? I do!! Sounds like you are super busy. Did you ever get together with Krista???

Brown - I am so glad that you are feeling good. What a nice change, huh? :) Why isn't he going to waldorf any more? Are they being buttheads about tuiton???

Batty - cool about the tickets! And as far as the garage sale.....

WOULD ANYONE LIKE TO JOIN US IN ONE HUGE GARGAE SALEORAMA???

We tried another weekend, and we had lots of fun playing, but not many people. We are changing our plan of attack and doing another one - in my front yard. The kids can all play in the fenced back yard, and it works really well! Anyone that would like to join, send me a PM or e-mail asap so we can pick a date.

Well, I think that is all for now. Almost done with work, and going home! Goodnight all!

Aira made it out!! Woo hoo. Did anyone have the stats on her, or are we waiting for Autumn on that? Congrats Autumn!

Amy- I am so sorry, this is all my fault, well Jasper's. You are # three of people I know who found out they were pregnant soon after holding jasper. Way to go catching those baby germs. :eek

Brown- so glad I could help by thinking good thoughts for you. I really couldn't do much else.

hope to see everyone at SG this Sat.
Jasper the giant weighed in at 18 lbs 7 oz at his 4 month appt.
We played with rice cereal in breastmilk today. I couldn't tell if he swallowed any of it, of course. I know 4 mo is on the young side for solids, but he's so big, and I feel sorry for him. He's doubled his weight and has been trying to grab my food. Does anyone have an opinion as far as: is it bad start him on just cereal for a couple months? maybe I am just trying to keep it more exciting.

well, see ya mamas..

hey SNOW watcha doin' tomorrow-thurs/monday? i have baby growing veggies (fruits?) nesting in a driveway for you LOL AND i was wondering if any mamagatheree can print me out a copy for registration (pretty please?!?!)

i have to find coverage myself for my shifts (i wrote that minus the f at first...oops LOL) and then i'm a go... going topless with the topless crew i hope :D

argh. gotta run, ds actually AGREED to take a bath just now!

heh - oh yeah, forgot to mention the gathering is topless - well, at least our contingent! I got the 3rd room booked - if anyone else is tempted to join us, we got room. woo hoo And it's not sponsored by hipMama- so don't feel weird if you weren't on hM. I know you preggo mamas can't come but we'll be thinking of you & the rest of the tribe here at home. Brown - roll those dice and WIN!

Cattrane -am opening the opera tomorrow afternoon, could stop by afterwards for the termaters if that works for you, or could get them at park Monday.

which brings me to Park, Monday - we tried to do the Calhoun Tot lot last wk but ended up at EP due to rain. Should we try it again? The Midget & I can be there noonish. Saramama - you know where that is? It's worth the drive, incredible spot, & is closer for Colin to bike to.

Supi - my 2 Faint Positives are named Q and M and that's it - forever! People always wonder if a faint positive is valid - we have living proof. (& that is not ok of your beloved mama to act like that again)

Jasper ready for solids? Maybe he is, he'll tell you. Q wasn't ready till almost 8 mo's while M was grabbing spoons out of my hand at 3 mo's. Finally relented and let M have her cereal w/ breast milk at 4 mo's and she loved it & scarfed it down. It's true that they don't *need* it before 6 mos or even later & you don't want to push it early, but if Baby is asking that's different. healthy boy!

Curvie - yes on the garage sale, I know nada about them tho

Wackadoo, DAAM is Moon's acronym for DailyAllAboutMe and Batty - I think the reason W is bouncing round the house is she gets to go to KatLand too. OK, nuff here, see y'all Sat hopefully.

I'm hoping to be at SG on Saturday. Kalyn woke up yesterday with a cold. Went to the chiropractor yesterday and he said her lymph nodes are the size of grapes! Last night she had a fever of about 100-101. She slept fine though. I was worried that her fever would go higher and would have to give her tylenol, but she was fine. I'm trying to keep her seperated from Saige and so far Saige is fine. I will see how we all are before going to Devi's. Don't want to get everyone else sick. Kalyn for sure will stay home with daddy.

Saige is on day #3 of going potty in the toilet in the mornings. Could this really be so easy!:jaw

would love to have any of you who are interested in api to fill out the survey. we're trying our best to accomidate everyone who want to come to a meeting.

Well, the new website is finally up and running! Information on all the meeting locations, dates, times, and topics will be posted there. Quarterly and monthly emails will also go out to folks on the mailing list (which means you, if you?re getting this email!).

http://www.twincitiesapi.org/

There is also an online survey based on the one that was handed out at the last meeting. If you were unable to attend the last meeting, it would be wonderful to get your input on times, topics, locations, and other Twin Cities-API things. (If you already one filled out at the meeting, don?t worry about doing the online version). If you have any problems with the website or online survey, or have any comments, please email: info@twincitiesapi.org:

Elaine I can take you and one other place I like is Treasure's Island. There prices are the same as Babies R Us for many things. And what am I thinking I just priced out a carseat for the new babe at Treasure's Island and found it on EBAY for 1/2. So let's get educated to what we want and then go on eBAy

Anyway totally depressed Charlie has a penis infection, either staph or strep 90 % sure says the doc but they took a sample and we will know for sure on Monday. Anyway 10 days of antibiotics. Don't tell my inlaws or my brothers cuz I will get the circumcision lecture. I am bummed!!!

Hey mommas!:D I had to come on here again today to say how happy I am to have some of the old posters back!:bouncy :banana I like your new username, Wackadoo!:thumb And thanks for the sweet compliment! I do love homeschooling, and am especially liking next year's first grade curriculum.

The mamagathering sounds so cool. Wish I could come!:crying I am still taking care of Philly, though, and now my other nephew (Philly's older brother) as well. There's always sooo much stuff going on...

Moon~ I really like the recorder! So far I have three notes down.:love

Littlecurvie~ I left you a voicemail re:Krista. :) My fingers are crossed for you on the apartment!

Totally forgot to say before: Kate~ It was great to see you on the boards! I hope maybe you will come on more often! Oh, and if you can, tell dh we plan on the beach swimming lessons in the middle of July.

my2girlz~ I hope the sickies leave you all soon!

Mamar~ Sounds like you are doing better...?:hug

Elaine~ Jasper sounds like my babies! They all were little tanks by four months!

;)

Okay, time to run...I have someone from my neighborhood association coming over this afternoon to talk about our problem neighbors across the street. Hopefully this will help.

i wanna go to the mama gathering too. i need some groovy mama time. too busy lately. who want a mama night out...TONIGHT??? :)

maybe we'll actually make it to some things in the next 48 hours. no plans on saturday really. my lil bro and sil are flying in from ca, but not until late. don't need to worry about cleaning when they come to visit. they really don't care how our house looks, god bless 'em.

kaje - :( i'm sorry to hear about cha. i'm already bracing myself for the lectures if we have a boy. mil is totally pro-circ and her jaw dropped when we told her weren't going to circ if we have a boy. do parents get lectures when their kids get an ear infection or conjunctivitus? um, no.

kdmw - we are feeling better...and no call about the 24 hour test...so i guess its just a bad cold. hope things work out with the neighbors. i feel for ya. the renters next door are insane.

actually snow explained the daam at the bottom of her post above and moongloe started it.

Anyway this is so hard. Charlie totally starting sobbing on our way home from getting the prescription saying his penis hurt. Thanks for the thought Autumn. Makes total sense and the inlaws have had their share of ear infections.

You said mamas night out tonite. Smeta and I are doing the collective. Come on come.

SaraMama how are ya?

Okay I had a Kathy Jo melt down today:

I was bummed about Charlie, it is hard to have your little guy tell start sobbing, mama my penis owie!
And then I have so much to do before the new baby
I never sit on the birth ball
I rarely do kegels
I need to read the VBAC companion
I feel so disconnected to Jerry especially with the birth and the babe
Last time we did so many things together, Bradley etc..

I am sure this is so common
Anyway I started sobbing and then my phone started ringing

Autumn to ask how Charlie is
My friend Teresa calling who is planning my ritual for my blessingway
And then more Katie, Ann, Kelley, Elma, Nancy and Suzanne calling to see how Charlie is

So now I got the little guy sitting in the kitchen sink
with lavender in the water
eating canteloupe and Nancy's yogurt laced with acidophilus

Earlier we danced in the kitchen together

So I am better.

kaje, dont worry about it, the search is over. you have enough to worry about with your little man. good to hear you are feeling better, though.

DAAM- (heh, now I know what it means)
after looking at many ebay auctions and reading many E-pinions, I decided to take a field trip to Once Upon a Child. I know that it is considered a big no-no to buy car seats used, but I did it. This was kinda the exception, as I got my dream car seat. It is a Britax roundabout for $75. The seat is a little on the heavy side, but had everything else going for it. AND it had the manual.

You should have seen the looks on their faces when they offered to watch Jasper while I went and installed the seat, and I said, "I don't have a car." And strolled off to the bus stop.

I am so glad that is over with. But I'm not in any hurry to give it a test run. I looked it over and everything works. The built in locking clips were the clincher (no pun intended).

So unless someone wants to give me a ride on saturday and help me wrestle this thing into their car. It'll just sit in my living room till I go visit wisconsin dells for a family gathering.

hey mamas~

supi...i wanna go camping with ya! maybe i need to make a 'flat kat' you gals can take everywhere.

kj...i hope his penis is better soon.

my2...oh no! i hope she's better soon too.

elaine...i shopped at once upon a child quite a bit when i still lived in mn. i don't think they'd resell a carseat that wasn't in perfectly safe condition.

sara...yeowza! is it permanent? i want some firetruck red streaks.

kd...a woman in my hs group sent me this link. have you seen it? www.enaturalist.org

daam...my bright boy taught himself the beginning of 'twinkle twinkle little star' on his guitar. proud mama moment. a not so proud one...he showed daddy where we're hiding the bought father's day gift, and he gave him the unfinished homemade gift.
arrrghh.

moon - oh my...and oh my! i solve the hidden gift problem by giving everything early. as soon as i buy something or it arrives in the mail - "here ya go!" hee hee.

SG - we may be at sg tomorrow. we're celebrating papa's day tomorrow and i'm leaving it up to dh...but the last few weeks he's been saying he wants to go. any other sg papas going tomorrow? oh, and i haven't been there for a while. i'm the dishwater blonde with the belly, the tall dh, and the red haired charmer. hope to see some of you there if we actually show up.

DAAM - my first. :crying i'm vaclempt. i'd like to thank you all for explaining this daam thing to me. anyway, we're feeling better. 24 strep was negative. ella is fine today, not even a runny nose. i'm still a bit congested, but nothing major. taking my asthma medicine might help (d'uh). we're off to autumn's tonight. we're making them soba noodles with swiss chard, ginger, garlic, and topped with parmesan and pine nuts. yum yum.

mamar ~ Kalyn must have what you guys had! She woke up fine today, not even a runny nose. I'll see how she is tomorrow so I might take her with me tomorrow to SG. Unfortunately, DH woke up sick this morning with the cold and Saige didn't sleep to well last night. So I for sure am not bringing them to SG to give everyone else the sickies.

If I don't think Kalyn is back to normal for SG then she can stay home too. But, dang it, I'm going. I've been listening to dh whine about this, that, and the other for going on 1 month now (since surgery) and I NEED a break! So I will be there for sure!

Look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

Sorry we missed all the fun today :( 1 to 3 is prime nap time...tried to make it happen earlier, but no luck. Hope you all had fun.

DS and I baked cookies...my first ever that I didn't really burn.

SAT - KJ, can't make to Autumn's tomorrow, DH had something scheduled already and I had forgotten about it. Please send her my regards. Oh - and we don't eat meat, but your stew sounded lovely.

Kat - I am so impressed!!!! What a muscian you have! And yes my hair is permanent!! So fun, I'll have to post a photo soon.

Not sure about SG -- it's my morning to sleep in!
