My friends baby is very active all day with short naps. But she has not felt him move much, starting sunday. The last time she felt him moving around was almost 24 hours ago. Should she be worried? Her next scan is monday...

Not a professional, but it would make me worried. Has she tried moving the baby around and eating sweets to stir him/her up? I would call to get checked, personally.

How far along is she? If it's out of the ordinary for her baby then she should call her care provider.

If she's far along, near term, and hasn't felt the baby move at all for 24 hours, she should go see her careprovider. 24 hours is a long time for a baby to be quiet.

she is 6 months pregnant, tried drinking milk, OJ and water, lying down...i told her to go to the doctor if she didn't feel him move very soon...

at 6 months i might not start off worried when i first noticed a lack of movement, but i probably would begin to worry if i could not get the baby to move by eating, drinking, laying still, and then prodding. if she has tried all those things and still no movement, i would go see the doc. especially if the baby is normally active.

Sometimes babies get into a position that makes it hard to feel their movements. I don't think she should panic.

If she is worried a quick heartbeat listen can be very comforting.

She really worked on moving him and finally got him to do some kicks. Then this morning he moved a bit. Still not as active, but she feels he is fine, and I told her instincts are a good thing. ;) She does have a scan Monday. Thanks anyway mamas!

I'm glad she got the baby to kick her.

It is so scary when you stop feeling the baby move. I have three normally active babies in me, and for just over a day this weekend, I was convinced that I had only felt movement from one baby. Luckily, when I had it checked out, it turned out that they had moved and were all kicking me in the same area - which used to be where only one baby was kicking me.

I hope your friend can relax a little until Monday and that everything looks good at her appointment.

It's not uncommon to not notice movements for a day or 2 at 6 months. She might've been looking for kicks, squirms, or such, but might've not felt the baby's normal movements. The baby could've moved so that all the movement would be felt in the back, not towards the front where we normally feel it.

I know I went thru many episodes where I wouldn't feel this baby, or my other kids move for a day or 2 and I'd start to worry. But, when I'd worry, I'd try paying attention to the quieter movements and I'd get out my good ol' doppler.

I don't know if she considers 6 months to be 22-24 weeks, or after 26 weeks. I think it's after 26 or 27 weeks you're supposed to start doing the kicking counts.
