I got this in one of my myspace groups and figured I'd spread the word, it's a GREAT opportunity to put natural birth out there to impressionable teens!

Hello,

My name is Patrick and I’m working on a television documentary for MTV entitled “True Life: I’m Pregnant.” I joined this group so I could spread the word about our project and try to get in touch with great people with interesting stories.

Please read the below casting call and email us if you would like to share what’s going on with your pregnancy. If you know anyone else that might be good for our show, please pass this along!!

-Patrick

TRUE LIFE: I'M PREGNANT
Are you expecting a baby sometime this summer? Do your family and friends know about your situation? Was this an expected pregnancy? Are you nervous about having a child? Excited? Scared? How has your life changed after finding out you are pregnant and how will it change when you actually give birth?

If you are between the ages of 18 and 28, are expecting, and would like to share your story with us, please email pregnant@mtvstaff.com and tell us about what's happening. We want to hear all about what makes your pregnancy especially interesting or unique.

Please be sure to include your name, location, contact number, and photo.

I called MTV studios in Monica, CA and they said that the mtvstaff.com is the email server they use, so it's valid.

Lol, you're just too old for their demographic. 16 year old girls watching are going to be like, "Dang, she's OLD!" :wink

I asked if the due dates were set in stone and they said yes, they're not budging past August.

Oh well, I missed that all together...I'm 29 and due in October. I'm probably not all that interesting though, pretty normal pregnancy, and I will be having a waterbirth with a midwife, so nothing shocking! LOL!

Just an FYI....has anyone seen True Life or any other shows on MTV?? I personally would NEVER want to represent or be seen in anything on MTV..I'm totally against it...but that's just me...and I think many on this type of forum would feel the same way...I've seen that show once or twice although I couldn't watch it the whole way through...I definitely don't think they're looking for the type of women on here...ya know?

I've liked some of the True Life shows they've done, but the ones I've seen are things that I didn't know much about, like the episode on Tourette's, and competitive eating. There was one on "I'm from a gay family" that was really good.

I sent an email too.. :duck:

I doubt I'd get a call.. but you never know. I think it would be good for young women to get to see a natural birth with a midwife, when I was younger and before I got pregnant, I thought it was standard to have an OB and go to the hospital- I would hope they would choose one of thier women (even if not me) representing birth the way nature intended...:o

Yeah I think True Life is very tasteful and well done.

You don't have to actually BE between the ages of 18 and 28 - you just have to "appear to be between" those ages. So apparently that part's not carved in stone.

I am the only tap-dancing pregnant person in my martial arts class, and I am due in June, so I thought about emailing, but decided I really don't want to appear on the network home of "My Super Sweet Sixteen."

wow, that's interesting..... i'm waaaayyyyy too boring for anyone to video! But I would love to see a good birth. I'm thinking they are looking for unwed/unplanned/unconventional. I think homebirth fits the bill, but since it's not entirely legal here, I don't think advertising it on tv is an option for us. Go MTV! I don't like much on that channel besides True Life, Bam's Unholy Union (that's right! :lol ) and Sweet 16 b/c it's so rediculous.....
