YAY! I get to tell my story! I hope I can remember the good stuff.....this is sure to be lengthy.......

Once upon a time in a boring land a there lived a young lady who was 2 days past her due date. It was a hot July day, and she was very sick and tired of being pregnant. So she started walking, and walking, and walking, trying to get her baby to come out. She walked around her yard in circles, and everything. Then she started walking through the cornfield next to her house. She was dancing, and prancing and singing out "Come out little one, I am ready to meet you!!" It began to rain. She felt wonderful and made her way back to the house.

(Okay, back to 1st person) So I had been having contractions since six that morning, but I didnt know thats what they were. They werent that much different than the pains I had already experienced. Skipping to after the cornfield experience. My dp came home from work and I was feeling the contractions but did not know what they were and they were not that bad. By 11 at night, it was getting bad. DP had worked a double and was passed out. I tried to tell him something was going on but he told me to go away. (I complain alot sometimes) Around 12 I was holding on to things, and started to wonder if I should call my midwife. I called my mom instead. At one o'clock a.m. I called my mw, I was unsure if I was bothering her. She listened thru a few contractions and told me to call her back in an hour, she sounded frustrated. I ended up calling her back in 20 mins, cuz it got WAY worse. She told me to come on down to the birth center, which was about an hours drive from my country location.

By the time my mom got there to pick me up, I was kicking and punching things and cussing. Ow Ow Ow. The whole way she kept asking my for directions and Id be like turn f*&%ing left!!!
Then I started puking, nonstop. Oh joy. How come no one told me this would happen. When I got there, at about 3 a.m. they took me up to the room. I was in terrible pain, gripping on to things, repeating my mantra"oh god, oh jesus, of f%$#" They drew the tub water, And I instantly stripped because I felt so hot. I never thot I would do that, but I really did not care. Theyd already seen my most private part anyway.

Well, lets see. I had to get an IV to stop puking. I was dry heaving and they said they would have to take me to the hospital or give me the IV. I chose the IV. It made everything so much easier after I stopped puking. I got in and out of the tub for hours. It got worse and worse. I began to ask for drugs. I began to beg for drugs. My midwives totally ignored me! The nerve! (I am now glad they did) Eventually I was falling asleep in the tub, and kept waking up with every contraction. Every time Id wake up thered be someone different(but always one of my two midwives or dp) sitting there to make sure I didnt drown. Then I was pooping little tiny turds all in the tub and they were fishing them out with a fish net. How embarrassing!! But of course I was in too much pain to really be embarrassed. At some point my water broke, and that was wierd.

Okay, so they filled the tub up probably four or five times for me. I was in and out of it all night. I was praying, screaming, crying and begging for drugs. So much for self control, eh? I never imagined any pain like that possible. But you know the worst thing was the contractions, not the birth? I was so afraid of tearing, and squeezing something out of my hole, but that aint nothing compared to them contractions. I remember my midwife saying, I think your going to have this baby within the next hour. Twenty minutes later, at 10:15 the next morning, my babe was born. I screamed, a deathly, earth shattering scream. My midwife said she'd never forget the look on my face as long as she lived. heh heh.:p It must have been pretty classic.

I remember the feeling of him coming out of my ass or something, thats really what it felt like. Id stand up and feel my tailbone and it was sticking out so far, there was SO much pressure. My tailbone hurt for two weeks.

When he came out, he didnt look like other babies Id seen. He did not cry. He looked so plump, clean, and non wrinkly. 7lbs, 7 ounces, born in the 7th month. Id suggest a waterbirth for anyone who doesnt want to hold a slimy bloody baby, because mine came out all shiny and clean. The umbi cord was soooo cool and squiggly and really long. He was alert and looked all around. WOW. And as soon as he was out, the pain was over.

I was so thankful NOT to be in a hospital. I definately wouldve taken drugs, as I was in more pain than I ever knew existed. The only people who seen me was my two midwives and my dp. If nurses had been walking in and out of my room Id of chased them off screaming. The whole experience imho wouldve sucked alot more in a hospital. (but mightve hurt less)

I had no tears or problems of any kind.

I'm thinking of birthing in the tub, and I have NEVER thought about pooping. Oh no. Oh well. :) I've also never thought about them being washed off by the water.
Thanks for sharing your waterbirth story! I'm hooked on these birth stories...
