not so good news- update post 28

I had my follow-up ultrasound and midwife appointment-- it did not go so well.
They could not find a heartbeat and at this point they really should have. I have another follow up next Wednesday to be sure, but we're not really hopeful anymore. :(

My symptoms are still here, but getting to be less and less, although I'm still throwing up at least once a day. It seems like a cruel joke that I should still have morning sickness and not have a baby.

Anyway-- I hope everyone else here has a really healthy and happy pregnancy and a lovely birth expereince. :)

i am so sorry, with my first baby, I was just way too early and they too didn't find a heartbeat, so we waited for two more weeks and we found the heartbeat. With my other one, there was no heartbeat, but symptoms, then later I miscarriage. I sympathize with you. Will think of you when you go in for you appointment.

:Hug I'm so sorry to hear that - I had a m/c back in February, found out when I had an u/s at 9 wks and they couldn't find a heartbeat (baby was also measuring 2 wks behind so they knew it was gone...)

Keep us posted with how things go on Wed - depending on how far along you are, it may just be too early to definitively find the heartbeat.

wow... thank you so much for thinking of me today.

Unfortunately, I did not get good news. The ultrasound did not find a heartbeat and the embryo is measuring over 2 weeks behind. I met with my midwife after the u/s and she pulled out all of the reports and info from all of my u/s and we confirmed that this is indeed a missed miscarriage. I had blood taken today and will again on Friday to see what my HCG levels look like.

A doctor is supposed to call me to give me my options based on my levels. I guess they are making sure it's not a molar pregnancy and then from there, I can either have a D&C or take a pill. I asked which my midwife would do and she said the pill, so I think I'm going to go with that since I can take it and stay in bed. My mom is going to come help and give my husband a break, too. It's nice to have their support. And DH and I are looking forward to trying again.

I am really thankful for this place- and for all of the support I've received here. I wish everyone else a healthy pregnancy and I hope to read everyone's great birth stories in December. :)
