Hi, I thought we could start a thread to introduce ourselves to the expecting club.

I'm Drew, 29 years old, on my second pregnancy, but no babies yet. I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks in December and am very happy we didn't have to wait too long to get on with the business of baby-making.

My DH and I own a remodeling company on the East coast. I am planning a homebirth with a midwife, and plan on baby-wearing, exclusively breastfeeding, co-sleeping or using a side-car, and taking my baby to work.

We couldn't have hoped for a better due date, because January - March is our slow season. I hope this one sticks so we can really enjoy the early days with a nice, long babymoon.

Welcome to you ladies too!

Hi! I'm Ashley, I'm 23, this is my 2nd pregnancy, 1st baby. I too had a miscarriage in December, though it was at 4w4d. So, if I make it two more days, I'll already be more pregnant than I was before! I'm a homebirther, going to breastfeed for a good long time (CLW?), cloth diaper, homeschool, delayed and selective vaxing, and co-sleep.

I am so psyched, and am just praying that Squishy sticks.

Jen - 28 tomorrow :0), pg with my second. I have PCOS and tried for 16 months to get pg. Am currently offering up many :1praying: for a viable pregnancy. I ovulated late in this cycle and my progesterone was lower (at 14.3) so the RE is having me supplement with Prometrium. I have an u/s on 5/14. :fingersx: that everything is ok and we see a heartbeat (I wouldn't normally agree to an u/s - and am not really planning on having any more - but am unusually nervous about things this time around. RE wants one and I agreed).

I'm going to have an HBAC as long as my PCOS and any related issues don't risk me out. I gave up breastfeeding due to the stress and pressure I was under last time. I plan on CLW this next time around. We CD and will homeschool/cosleep.

Lots of :sticky vibes all around!

Hi ladies! I'm Tiffany, I'm 22, this is my second pregnancy but will (hopefully) be my first kiddo. I had a MC at 9 weeks last July after bleeding for almost a month. This time I feel like I'm in a much better place. Plus, we aren't telling any nonsupporting parties until we are into the second trimester. Hopefully that reduces the stress this time around.

We're planning a HB. We also plan to CD, co-sleep, no-vax, BF and home school.

Congrats and happy baby-making to all of you!

Hi Mamas, I'm a 30 yr old WOHM and this is my third PG (I have a lovely 23 mo. old dd, before her had one mc at 5wks). I'm also cautiously optimistic about this PG, hoping it will remain viable. My EDD is 13/01/2008, a couple of weeks before my 31st b-day! :)

I have learned that the healthiest thing for me and my family is to be flexible about parenting (so I'm not going to sum up my behaviours and beliefs in a nice little sentence or two -- though we practice a lot of AP stuff just 'cuz it feels right)!

Congrats to all! :grouphug

Hi everyone! I'm 32, a SAHM to a 4 year old daughter named Ruby. I'm still nursing Ru and am hoping that she decides to be done during this pregnancy. We are also planning our first homebirth and I really hope that it works out, I had high blood pressure during my pregnancy with Ru, so I'm hoping that stays under control. Looking forward to hanging out here for the next 8 months!

Here! I'm Amy, 31, due with #3 (4th pgcy) around Jan 5-7. I had a m/c in Oct so cautiously optomistic here. The line was nice and dark last night though so it already looks better than last time :)

I'm a sahm/wahm to two beautful boys. I'd love another boy, the idea of a girl scares me, lol. But I'm sure I'd be happy with either.

I agree with that!

Hi all! My name is Rachel. I have a 3-year-old dd who will turn four a couple of weeks after she becomes a big sister. We live with her father (my dp), two cats and six walking sticks. I'm thrilled to add another member to our family.

I look forward to being pregnant with everyone here and wish us all healthy pregnancies and amazing births.

I am Amanda. I noticed a lot of people have gone through a m/c here, so have I. We will be great comforts to one another. I m/c in november at 10 weeks, baby only made it to between 8-9 weeks. I am very scared but am diving into this with a positive attitude.

I plan on breast feeding, cloth diapering, co-sleeping, and loving that little bundle the best that I can.

Helen, I hope your little bean sticks.

I too had some weird bleeding this cycle. I usually get ovulation pain, and the morning after my O pain I started my "period." I'm guessing I just had some heavy ovulation bleeding because the bean's there, I have the HPTs and the morning sickness to prove it. So, hopefully everything goes well for you.

I got my BFP today....I am 33, and a mommy of DS (3) and DS (1), this will be #3. I am a little overwhelmed right now at the thought of the last 2 so close together...:dizzy: I"m not sure how far along I am b/c I cant remember when my lmp was, I'm guessing March 26th--so I may be about 4 wks, maybe more. Not sure yet if I'm actually due in late Dec or early Jan--I have been a week early with each of my sons, so I may not be in this DDC..

Hi ladies! I'm really glad to be here. I'll be 29 later this month and got my BFP this monday. It's pregnancy #2 and we are so thrilled (although we weren't trying). Dd was a suprise honeymoon baby so we really don't know how to plan for these things :wink . She's just turned 3 and still night nursing so we'll see how that goes.
Looking forward to the next 40 weeks!!!
Hope everyone is feeling well.

Congrats everyone! I just got a :+ today. I've been sick with a cold/ear infection for the whole last week and I just started antibiotics today....not exactly how I wanted to start this pregnancy :irked: but I'm hopeful that everything is still ok and this one will stick! I'm 27, DH is 29 and this will be our first, aside from my furry kid (Mastiff/American Staffordshire Terrier mix).

I got my :+ a few days ago, and I'm very excited. We have been practising for 8 months, and after it took only 3 months to conceive our ds, I was getting a little frustrated.

I'm 23, my dh will be 41 this month, and our ds turns 2 this month. We share our home with four furbabies. My edd is 1/7/08.

Hi :D
I just took a test yesterday to confirm and sure enough....I'm pregnant :banana
This is my third pregnancy and child. My Dd is almost 5 and Ds is 2 1/2. We were not really trying, but had planned to start ttc soon. We had wanted to time it so my husband would finish paramedic school before the birth, but it's not really a big deal. I think I'm due the first week of January :D

I'm here now!!! I'm 39 years old (will be 40 in October), pregnant with #4!! It still hasn't really sunk in, even though I have already been to my doc and had it confirmed...

This is my fifth pregnancy, and I have been trying for 22 months (since my last child turned 2)... cervical position was my friend! Got pregnant the third month I checked the positions!

Congrats to all, looking forward to getting to know you!

I am checking in - we just found out a few days ago.

We are totally shocked and it is still sinking in - we weren't trying but were planning to start trying in a few months - just didn't want to have a due date so close to the holidays - oops :o

I have a 22 month old ds. I also had a blighted ovum before him so am quite nervous and cautious as well. We aren't telling anyone until the second trimester.

We breastfeed (in fact, I am a bit nervous about how all this will affect ds), cosleep (again, nervous about how this will affect ds), cloth diaper, no circ, delay vax, umm, I think that is about it.

Congrats to all and am really looking forward to getting to know everyone and sharing this experience with you. :)

Hi all! I think I'm aiming for Jan - my cycles were irregular, so by LMP I'm nearly seven weeks but by yesterday's blood test I'm barely 4 weeks. I started feeling pregnant just last week.
I'm 29, this is my first pregnancy, and I'm the first of my close friends and nearby family to embark on this journey. This next year is going to be so very exciting! I have an enthusiastic and loving support group of husband, parents, brother and his fiancee, which helps - but I need tips and stories from other currently pregnant women!

I'm signing up for hypnobirthing classes and very keen to breastfeed. I hope to use an Arms Reach-type attachment to try co-sleeping. I am totally excited to babywear (I started practicing with scarves and a bag of sugar:p ). I am also hoping to learn more about elimination communication - I met a mother of a 7 month old who made it seem very reasonable. The baby wore diapers in public, but didn't seem to soil them very often. I won't circumcise if I have a boy. In fact, I'm exploring refusing to participate in circumcision of babies - I am also a second-year medical student. I'll be rotating through obstetrics in October, which should be a laugh and a half. It'll be a very busy pregnancy. I am blessed to be able to strategically choose a nice long maternity leave - I'm planning for 6 months. After that, my husband will be the primary parent for a few years (I'm envious) (but I love med school - sigh).

So far, I have enormous, tender boobs and occasional ambivalence about food (normally I'm a huge chowhound). I am so excited about being pregnant! Thank you all for being out there and eager to share!

Hi, all and congratulations!

I'm Karen, 32, due with #1 (first pregnancy) on New Year's Eve. I figured I had better introduce myself here and in the December DDC as I have no clue if I'll go early or late. I've been married for six years, have two kitty-babies, and am thrilled to be expecting this baby! We've been waiting for many years for DH to finish grad school so that we could start a family. I am just hoping and praying this baby stays with us.

Health and happiness to you all!

Wobit, I think we will really get along great here. I too am 29, on my first pregnancy and interested in each and every concept of parenting that you are, right down to EC.

Not that I don't think I'll get along with all of you ladies! It was just funny reading Wobit's post, it was as though I wrote it (well most of it, haha).

Hello ladies.

I'm Emily, I'm 24 and preggo again... 4th time. :) Like most of you I had an early miscarriage. I lost my first at 9 weeks... um I think it's been three years now, and I've got two busy baby girls. Kathryn will be two the end of this month, and Danielle will be one the end of this month. I LOVE my kids close together. #1 and #2 are 12 months and one day apart. #2 and #3 will be about 19 months apart. I'm a SAHM and DH is currently working part time and finishing his undergrad. He'll finally be done in mid-June and we're planning on moving in with my parents in Oregon the last week of June.

We do all those natural parenting things: We cloth-diaper, don't vax, won't circ, babywear, breastfeed, co-sleep, gentle discipline, etc. I'm actually a bit nervous about the breastfeeding right now. I got pregnant with #2 before I became crunchy and had been scheduling feedings with #1. This caused major supply issues and major weight loss by DD#1. So we had to switch to formula when DD#1 was 5 months. This time around we're doing feeding-on-demand and DD#2 shows no signs of giving it up, even if I don't have any milk. Thankfully she's old enough that we can just supplement with solid foods... and thankfully she LOVES to eat.

We had both girls in the hospital but both drug-free. We did HypnoBirthing with #1 and HypnoBabies with #2. I prefered the HypnoBabies and will be using that again with #3. We'd been leaning towards a homebirth for this little one, but it looks like we'll be living with my parents when the baby comes and I'm not sure how my body will react laboring at my mothers house. So, we'll be debating the next eight months between a homebirth and a birth center birth... but I won't go back to a hospital.

If you haven't noticed by now, I love to talk and type... I look forward to spending the next eight months going through this journey with you ladies.

Emily

PS. I calculated my "Guess date" as January 2, 2008, but I'm pretty convinced that with my luck I'll have a Christmas baby. #2 decided to come 2 1/2 weeks early... the night before my sister's wedding, and I didn't get to go to the wedding. :(

Hello!

Got my :+ this morning. Twice actually. :jumpers: Looks like it's probably a mid Jan baby. I wasn't charting because it was my first month off bc and I thought I'd have a bit of 'wind up' time to really get into all the ttc stuff. I've 'felt pregnant' since around the 25th or so... nausea, sore breasts and now the raging crankiness is starting.

My husband and I have two girls already who are thrilled about having a new brother or sister (they want a sister) and a fluffy cat named Kiki who doesn't seem to care one way or the other. :lol

I'm looking forward to participating!

I'm Tashauna. I'm 23. DH Will and I have been married for 18mos and now expecting baby #1!!!! I've never been pregnant before, so I'm very nervous! But, excited too!

Due 1/11/08, but I just have this feeling I'll go early! I really can't explaing why b/c I was 4 weeks late and DH's first child was 3 days late....but, I just think I'll go around New Years!!

I am excited to get to know everyone here!

We will bf, cd, babywear, cosleep....I would LOVE to homebirth, but DH won't go for it, so i guess I have to compromise on that one!

Hello.. I'm Alex, 29.. this is our first pregnancy. We just celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary and have been together for 6 years. The Guess date is 1/6/08.

Although I know that every child is different, so my plans aren't set in stone, I would like to:

Have Natural Childbirth with the use of Hypnobabies (would also love a Leboyer bath)
Skip Ultrasounds and the AFP and Triple Screen
BF (Extended weaning)
Cloth Diaper
Delayed Selective Vax
No Circ
Co-sleep with a sidecar
Baby wear (I love the moby wrap)
Practice Attachment Parenting and Gentle Discipline

Congrats to all of us! Here's to a happy and healthy 266 days (give or take a few):wink

Well, I'll jump in! Just took a test on Saturday night, and sure enough it was positive!

I'll be 30 when this one is born (probably---the due date is about 1.5 weeks after my own birthday), and already have a 25-month-old son at home.

I was hoping to have them a little closer to three years apart, but mostly because of season. I just LOVED having my son in March, when everything was in bloom, the days were getting much longer, and we could get outside a lot. This one will be early January, so much darker outside. Should be a bit different!

This was planned, but I think I forgot to check the calendar---turns out we thought we really had another month before things would really happen, but turns out I ovulated the day after we threw caution to the wind. Oops!

Dh is SUPER excited, and I'm still letting it sink in. I haven't told anyone else IRL yet (unless of course Gretchen or Lydia is reading this----surprise!)

Hi everyone! Mind if I join? I just took my test about an hour ago and was stunned to see a :+ so quickly!

I'm Allison, I'm 28 and this is our 3rd baby. DH and I have been married for 6 years and have two little boys ages 4 yrs and 23 months. DH also has a 14-year-old daughter from his first marriage. I just managed to talk him into #3 a couple of weeks ago, and we weren't planning on TTC "officially" this month, but our anniversary date-night happened and well, here we are! ;)

My first two boys were hospital, epidural births. I'm planning my first HB (and also first non-medicated birth - this will be a big step for me!) This will definitely, absolutely be our last baby and I am hoping for pink this time! :o

This is my first DDC experience on MDC! I was part of SheKnows when pregnant with DS#2, and we later sectioned off to a private board and still keep in touch daily. I'm hoping to meet some great new friends here! :wink

We got our + yesterday while camping!
After 10 months of trying, we thought it'd never happen. Now it's so surreal. I remember not believing it last time, either.

Our due date is sometime mid january - I will calculate it once I get home - have the date of my LMP written down there!

I don't know how much I'll be able to keep up on individuals' stories, but expect to spend some significant time on this board!

See you around.

Finally get to join a birth club! I'm Dani, mom to CJ who was born in Nov. 2004. I was very uneducated on "worse case scenario" when I had him and wound up with a c-section. I'm trying to find a provider who will allow a VBAC but it's next to impossible in my state (Rhode Island) unless you are willing to go to the "baby mill" in Providence. I have a close friend who is an acupuncturist who's specialty is fertility, but unfortunately she is moving across the country just before my due date.

I found out the hard way that breastfeeding, delay-vaxing, co-sleeping, cloth diapering, no circ'ng, babywearing are the way to go. I fell into all of them by accident. Unfortunately I didn't know a thing about circ'ng until it was too late. :( But I don't plan on making that mistake again. At any rate, this 2nd child has had his/her way paved for them and I plan on going through this next pregnancy with my eyes wide open.

Looking forward to meeting with everyone...

oh and I'm not sure my exact due date. I'm thinking maybe the 2nd week of Jan.

Hi I'm 28, married with 2 LO's. I am now preggers for #3 due 1/17/08!! This was our second cycle of trying. I have a history of two natural deliveries (in hospital) for each of my 10 lb babies and plan to do the same with this one. I BF until my babies self wean, plan to CD, delay vax, cosleep and babywear. I'm a nurse so I don't necessarily "fit the bill" LOL.

guess i'm the old mommy here. i'm 35. pg with baby #3. baby #1 (on earth) took over 10 years of i/f tx and many heartbreaking losses (4 pg - 2 singletons, 2 sets of twins). apparently whatever was broken is good and fixed now, lol. . . . we weren't trying - just thinking about trying in a few months AFTER we had a bigger car and had the backyard fenced in, etc. . ..

days like today i gotta admit, i think i'm way too old for this!

oh yeah, we're semi crunchy. my boys were circ'd (after much discussion we felt this was best decision at the time as all male members in my family have cancers in penis/prostate/testicles/etc and there is a slight decreased risk of those cancers with circ'ing.) we haven't decided what we'll do this time around.

first son is fully vax'd. second son has first of a few of the vax's and then i stopped - but i only 'started' him at 9 months of age. the ped is not thrilled with me, but she's adapting, although she's really insisting we get the tetanus vaccine - because my second son has had many serious injuries and stitches already - he's a very exuberant child who adores climbing and jumping. that pretty much explains it all. . . .sigh. . ..

also i've had 2 c/s's. we're doing homebirth this time around. it's safest for us. i'm buying a tub soon. this tub: http://www.yourwaterbirth.com/labassine.shtml

oh and my second labor was 43 HARD hours, then 2 hours of dedicated pushing. in all that time i had nothing but a few ice chips. i was worn out. they (hosp) wouldn't allow me to have anything else. i should have said 'screw it all' and drank some juice anyway. i was just out of oomph. . . .

Not sure when my EDD is as I can't exactly remember when my LMP was. I have general idea, though! So, due sometime in Jan. :lol

Its funny to see a few others who were planning on TTC, soon: we're in the same boat. We thought we'd get to trying in a few months-looks like we got a head start!

I'm in the exact same boat! I remember being on the tail end of it around 4/9 but for the life of me can't remember the exact day I started, since we weren't actively TTC this month. At least I know the exact date of conception, which I guess should provide a more accurate "due date" than my LMP, since my cycles vary beyond the 28 days a little.

Natural conception after 9 mos. ttc.
This will be my 3rd, and dh's 1st.
I have a baby it seems every 9 years...lol and always in December! (DD#1 was due in Nov. & DD#2 was due in Jan... both born in December- I wonder if this baby will follow suit?)
DD #1 is 18 and DD #2 is 9. Baby #3 is due Jan 9.
Homebirths, no vax, no circ. Also homeschooled DD#1 grades 2-5.

Excited to find this board!!!

Sorry it's taken me so long to get my act in gear and post this!

* Hana (28), DH Will (31)
* Married 3.5 yrs
* Living in the "five-college area" in western MA (not entirely by choice but I'm adjusting - I'm a Boston girl at heart but DH is doing his PhD here)
* DH and I are both animal-obsessed, and I'm a bit of a part-time activist on behalf of American Pit Bull Terriers (the most maligned, mistreated, and misunderstood dog breed in existence)
* EDD: 1.7.08
* This is our first so we're still figuring out a bunch of stuff, but here's what we've been able to discuss in between DH's finals: cloth diapering, BF, hypnobirthing

After my maternity leave, we're going to try to work out a flexible schedule so baby will only have to be in daycare 3 days/wk. I'd love to be able to stay home, but I'm the 'breadwinner' and we owe up to our eyeballs in education loans. :dizzy:

Really looking forward to getting to know everyone!

BostonianBaby - I have an American Staffordshire Terrier mix, and I'm right there with you. She's the best dog we've ever owned!!! Also, I spent a couple years living in Stoneham, MA and loved New England, but my heart is in the Pacific NW now.

Welcome!

:wave Hi everyone!

I'm beyond excited to join you guys! :D I got my bfp on Sunday! :D

I'm vacationing at my friend's house in FL with my little girl, and was going to wait till I go home tomorrow to tell DH, but I had DD tell him on the phone today :laugh I couldn't keep it a secret any longer! :lol

I live in NJ, DH and I have been married almost 7 years. We have one DD who will be two next month, and one Australian Cattle Dog, who loves babies. :lol

According to FF, based on ovulation date, my EDD is 01/16/08 :D I went a week early with DD, so we'll see. :lol

We're planning our second homebirth; we don't vax, and we won't circ if we're blessed with a boy. :D I can't wait to CD a newborn again! :lol

Haven't had time (or the energy -- hmm wonder why :wink ) to read through this whole thread but thought I'd jump right in and hope to catch up later.

I'm Christine, 36, 3rd time pg/hopefully child #2 :fingersx: by end of Jan. I'm a SAHM to my fabulous girl who turned 3 in April. Keeping it positive for a VBAC. We CD, BF, cosleep, homeschool, and do our best with GD.

Special shout out to Toni Weschler and TCOYF -- this was our 2nd cycle charting :thumb

I'm 25, and this is pregnancy #4 for me, DD#1 will be almost 7 when baby comes, DD#2 will have just turned 6 (yup, they are only 10.5 months apart and born in the same year!)....And DD#3, my angel, will be watching over us.
I'm looking forward to talking to everyone over the next 9 months....... I still can't believe I'm joining a DDC, this is soooo exciting!!!

So I guess I really am here! Tested this morning and had a light line, but I guess it's a line! This was our first month offically being able to try- I've got PCOS and haven't ovulated in years, this was our first month on Clomid and it worked!!! What a wonky day, it's so crazy to want something for so long and then to suddenly have it be true. What a fun 30th b-day present for hubby. I'm 28 and this will be our first. I'm thrilled beyond belief to be here with you ladies, my EDD would be end of January ish.

I'm 7 weeks PG with #3. Due 1/4/08.

This one is about 2-3 YEARS earlier than we planned, but I guess I'd rather have a baby on God's calendar than my own. I'm finally settling into the idea of being pregnant.

I'm WOHM now, but in January, it looks like I'll become SAHM. My job just won't make since anymore with 3 children under 4.

Alex was a hospital birth because of complications, but it was 100% natural. Cor was a homebirth, and assuming all is well, #3 will be a home birth as well. I love my midwife!!!

We will most likely co-sleep for my own sanity (the girls are in their own rooms/beds now). We CD and BF. Cori self-weaned at 13 months and I took that opportunity to wean Alex. I'm looking forward to breatfeeding only one baby! It is very likely that this is our last, and Todd will get the snip-snip soon after baby is born.

Nice to meet you!

Officially due 1/7/08 but mine are always late, so I think I'm gonna fib a little on the LMP date so I don't have to sweat pressure about a C at 37-38 weeks.

This is our fourth pregnancy; DS 7/03, DD 4/05, our :yangel born 9/06 at just 15wks gest. I've decided that worrying won't do me any good, but I'm trying extra hard to be grateful for the icky morning sickness this time and not take my pregnancy for granted.

I'm resigned to a scheduled C, as much as I HATE them, b/c we've moved and are 2 hours from the nearest acceptable hospital (which also means 2 hrs from fast food, too! :) ). With 2 prior C's I'm just not game for the risks being so far away :(

I just found out today @ 9dpo.. I got bored and peed on a stick.. wasn't expecting to see faint lines.. :lol this is #4 for me and #2 for DH. My first I gave up for adoption and we still keep in contact. I am due Jan 30th.. but hoping this one makes an appearance Jan 24.. that was my gma's bday and if it is a girl we are naming her after her. if it is a boy then it would be after my gpa. They both passed within the last year and 1/2 but I know they are watching over me.

I just turned 24. This is my fourth pregnancy, will be third child (m/c first). It was an oops, pulling out works as long as you then don't do reentry! Dh is :dizzy: right now, I've "known" I was pg for awhile now but didn't get a bfp until today, six days after af should have come at the latest (lesson learned, cheap dollar tests do not work for me). I'm somewhat happy about this pg, it will be my last and I refuse to be sad about it. Dh on the other hand is deep in denial, he thinks the tests are wrong (bought a two pack, took both). But I know my body and I know that they aren't wrong, I am pg. He'll come around once the baby is born and he grows to love it. :)

I'd hoped for an oops in the past few months but not really, you know? Kind of like a fun thought but something that wasn't at all practical and something I was trying to avoid. He'll likely get a vasectomy after this.

But I am happy to finally be completing my family! I'd always felt like someone was missing and I'm hoping this will alleviate that for me :) And I'm sure I'll warm to the idea of it happening before planned too :)

I am totally with you here. I have been thinking about wanting to get pregnant again for several months, and also thinking about how it wasn't practical. I super excited, but i think that we are going to keep this one a secret for as long as possible because it does seem so impractical.
