Hi, I am going to visitin italy next month for vacation and will be taking my nursing baby. I wanted to know what the general public opinion is regarding breastfeeding in public there. Does anyone know if it's ok or looked down apon? Does it happen there?

I live in Italy and a lot of moms nurse here, so NIP has never been a problem for us. If anyone has commented it's been to say how good "il latte della mamma" (mother's milk) is for the baby. Now my DD is 29mo; I don't get any strange looks but there is the occasional "still nursing" comment. They seem more surprised than anything, because most mom's stop at about 1 year.
Don't worry - don't even feel you have to conceal yourself. Just do what's comfortable for you both.
Buon viaggio!

Yep, no problem whatsoever.
You're not expected to use a blanket or other cover up either, in fact I'd never seen that till I moved to the US!
You will get a lot of positive comments (as the OP said) about 'il latte della mamma', I always did! :)
