Oh and I have to agree that you need to take what people tell you with a grain of salt. Just smile and continue on your way. A lady stopped me in the Home Depot when I was pregnant with our first that asked if my "turkey timer" had popped yet. I asked her what she was talking about and asked to see my belly button to see if I was "ready" yet. I just chuckled...it never did pop. Guess my boys weren't ever "ready" :lol Crazy lady!

Congrats! The closest I'll ever get to ER medicine is watching ER :P I just don't have the stomach! You can also check with the midwives and see if they have birthing suites in office. Mine does and if we aren't in our townhome by then I'll probably birth there.

Aimee- Thats nuts!! I don't have a pregnant story, but the other day I was buying a can of Formula (long story short BF didn't work for DS and I, but I'm gonna work harder for this baby!) and the elderly lady at the counter looked at me and had the gall to say "SO do babies really like this stuff?" Hopeful for B/G: I want both so I don't care which comes first.

CD or Sposies: cloth, with an eye for elimination communication -I will be with baby 24 hrs mostly so this shouldn't be too difficult.
Favorite Food: Over-medium egg heavily peppered and lightly salted in a mini whole wheat pita pocket with spreadable cheddar cheese. I eat this everyday for breakfast and sometimes look forward to eating it the next morning all day or all night long. I seriously crave it constantly.
Least Favorite Chore: mopping and vaccumming -they tie for worst.

Elaina- I like cloth diapers when I have my own washer and dryer, but right now we have to pay for laundry and it's just too much work to do it by hand. I think the easiest way to CD for me would be all pocket diapers! Check out the diapering boards if you wanna ask questions!!

Drew- Ahhh the east coast how I miss the! I'm a FL girl born and raised. We don't vax, and it was actually pretty easy for us to decide that because we don't like the idea of injecting a "dead" virus into our healthy child. Hope you guys can come to a happy decision!

Ahh I wish we could get insurance that good and not pay an arm, a leg, and a few ribs.

Mine is going to cost $1950 total unless we can pay by my second appt. with her in cash. Then it will be $1800. That includes a free 1 hour massage (she's a licensed massage therapist :D) and as many ultrasounds as I want! She got a great deal on an ultrasound machine on ebay. So i'm feeling really blessed at the moment!

I am not sure yet - I am fighting with insurance right now. :hopmad :dizzy: :bawl :bang I *think* it should be all covered. My first actual appt with the mw is end of June so I if she tells me her rates, I'll let you know.

I am bummed, because it seems like the costs for HB are sky high here. I'll be paying $5,500 (which is actually lower than I thought it was -I just re-checked the paperwork) for liscened direct entry midwife.

Plus, we will pay $150 for the birth tub and whatever a doula who will provide assistance during an entire labor and post-natal care (maybe a few days to a week?) will cost (I'm thinking $1k or so).

Nothing is covered under my HMO, although my midwife will submit it for reimbursement; it doesn't hurt to try.
