View Full Version : Outgrowing clothes already!!!

I'm seroiusly already outgrowing my clothes. :irked: I can't wear my skinny pants anymore (not that I ever could during my luteal phase) and my fat pants, which I usually swim in, are feeling normal and comfortable. Also, my boobs are busting out of most of my shirts, which really sucks. Because they're so big, the front of my shirts are now shorter, and I don't like showing midriff that much.

So, do I go buy bigger clothes, or maternity? I'm a first time mom, and I'm amazed at how big I am now (not showing, but definitely puffy).

AHHHH!

I'm "puffy" too!!! I have one pair of work pants that I always wear a belt with, no biggie. The other pair doesn't have belt loops, so they usually are literally falling off, so I don't wear them. I wore them yesterday and they were snug!!! But I'm not quite fitting into my maternity clothes! It's that awful in between. My jeans are all snug, and the seatbelt bugs the crap out of me! Ugh....I am totally feeling your pain!

None of my bras fit...and I'm busty as it is, so I am going to have a hard time finding bras that fit!

I just don't wear bras, so that helps. Of course my boobs are burning today, and I'm wondering if more support would help. But I"m stubborn.

This jsut seem so pathetic...I'm only 5 weeks! I don't want to be buying new clothes yet! I'm lucky that my SIL had a baby last January, so I hope she'll lend me some of her maternity clothes. But.....what about now?!?! We're trying to save money, and me having to buy a whole bunch of new clothes is not helpful.

I am still okay..a bit bloated.. but I have started wearing long stretchy skirts because I can pull them over/under the "bump" depending on how I am feeling. I have my maternity out and hung up..but not caving yet... this is #5 for me and I think maybe within the next few weeks but I know I will get tired of it so I will try to wait longer I think. I may wear some of the tops because they are longer/looser .. who knows..

So do you end up in maternity earlier with each pregnancy? This is #3 for me but my youngest is almost 7 and I don't remember when I started needing maternity clothes with either of them. I feel bloated right now but not entirely sure if it's just in my head or what. I'm going to have to buy new maternity clothes since mine all got sent to goodwill or something a few years back during a move. Now I'm wondering if I should go ahead and start hunting! Ack!

This being my 4th pregnancy (hopefully 3rd baby) I'm feeling big already too! I'm not quite ready to get my maternity out, I've just bought some new nice clothes last month before I found out I was expecting, so I'm wearing those, I lost weight so I've got a little bit of room. I'm anxious though to get my maternity out because I've got such cute ones! But they are in the attic and it'll take a few weeks to get dh to get the ladder and bring it upstairs to get them down, which is good! We're also going on vacation the first week of June and where we are going there is an Old Navy with a maternity section so I'm sure I'll be hiting that up. I'll be 11 weeks and I'm sure I'll not be fitting my clothes then, so perfect timing!

So do you end up in maternity earlier with each pregnancy?

I was out of the first trimester with my first before I needed maternity clothes but was in them by 10 weeks with my second. I was thinner at conception this time than at the time I conceived #2, so hopefully that means since my clothes are a tad roomy I'll be ok for a little longer this time. Wishful thinking! :lol

I am definitely feeling bloated though... right before I got the BFP I had picked up some green tea metabolism-boosting capsules to try and drop a few pounds, because I thought the bloating was just me gaining weight. I put on 5 pounds a couple months ago though, so it was hard to tell if I was just getting more out of control or what! :lol

I am SO glad you started this thread! All my pants are too tight - there's no hope of my fitting into my "skinnier" ones. It's gotten to the point where I basically have two pairs of work pants I can squeeze myself into. Fortunately the weather's a bit warmer and I can start breaking out some skirts.

I also have the stripper boobs in full effect now. At least it's pretty entertaining for DH because the left one is visibly more swollen than the right.

FYI - Old Navy has these great stretchy skirts that come in a bunch of colors and are super-comfortable (and forgiving): http://www.oldnavy.com/browse/product.do?cid=15294&pid=455741

I broke down and tried on some maternity clothes today. And, all I have to say is...

WHY DO THEY HAVE TO BE SO COMFORTABLE!?!?!?!?!?!

I'm only 5 1/2 weeks! I should not be fitting into maternity clothes yet!!!!! I heard if you buy them to early, they're gigantic and annoying. BUT THEY FIT!
I would have bought some today, but I'm nervous about this weekend...

(A bit off topic)
I got a full blown period at ovulation this cycle. It was heavy, and weird. But, I knew I was in my LP because I had all the symptoms. Plus, I get mittelshmerz, so I knew when I O'd. This weekend would be 4 weeks past that "period" and if I make it through this weekend, I feel like I"m set. I'll start announcing then (it already got out to at least one of my 10 siblings in law, and I know at least one other suspects, damn my whinings on facebook about nausea) .

The thing I'm worried about are my thighs. I have gymnasts thighs, so their huge but not fat. I don't know if they'll get any bigger though, and the size M maternity pants I tried on today were a bit snug in the thighs. Comfy, but not roomy. So, I'm gonna wait a few weeks to see if my thighs grow more...

I bet you I'll be in maternity before 8 weeks. And this is my first....

I remember from my first pregnancy I get big really early and then it dropped off at about 10 weeks. From then on I grew and grew. This time around I feel that way again. My 22s are much more comfortable than the 20s that 2 weeks ago were dropping off my tail! I plan to make do with stretchy pants and bigger stuff I have until I get to about 10 or 12 weeks and then break out the maternity.

I believe I was probably in my second trimester with ds when I started needing to actually wear maternity pants. I remember not really feeling all that uncomfortable, but once I put on a pair of maternity pants couldn't imagine how I'd gone that far without them.

Now...since it's my second and I had a c/s last time I imagine that my abdominals aren't what they used to be pre-kids. I'm already having a hard time fitting into some of my pants, but don't know if that's just due to bloating or...

I was well into fall last time so all of my maternity clothes are really meant for cold weather so this time around I'll definitely have to get some summer stuff! Call me superstitious, but since this pg was so hard fought...I'm waiting until after our u/s on Monday to purchase anything. I just want to know that everything is ok before I start investing in clothes.

Of course...that doesn't mean I haven't already looked!

So, is anyone else on the opposite end of this spectrum? This is also my 4th pregnancy, 3rd baby and I haven't gained an ounce. Everything still fits me. Actually, with both of my girls, I couldn't fit into any maternity clothes until I was at least 5 months. You'd think I was tall, or overweight already or something... I'm not... I'm 5'2" and currently 118 lbs. I also don't gain a ton of weight (less than 20 lbs with each girl) and lose it remarkably fast (by 3 months post-partum I was 5 lbs less than my pre-pregnancy weight... both times).

So, am I the only one, or are there others who don't/haven't gained anything?

Emily

Hello Ladies,
In case your interested, Amazon has a 'Baby Be Mine Belly Band' that you can wear over your pants during this in between stage.

I was so excited to start working off my baby fat from my son but getting pregnant again so soon kinda threw that idea out for me. But I also am still wearing maternity clothes. I just couldnt put them away after my son, they still fit nicely and they are ohhhh so comffy. :)

I was lucky enough to lose the weight after DS. I was 240lbs when I had him and I started at 208. I'm currently 205 so hopefully I can stay around the same area this time around.

Bitch!

Haha, I'm totally just kidding. Actually, I want to thank you because I was hoping to not gain more than 20 lbs, starting at 5'6" and 130# (I'm very athletic with muscles), and now I know at least some women can do it, so I feel more confident now. I have lost three pounds since I'm puking constantly. Everything fits fine, but I don't care for the feeling of something on my waist sometimes when I'm feeling yucky from the preggo symptoms. I'm hoping to not need preggo clothes until at least 6+ months. I plan on buying a Bella Band for when my pants first start getting tight. I'm really into fashion so I want to wear my clothes as long as possible; luckily I have a ton of drapey and long tops since that's the style right now, so hopefully I won't have to buy maternity tops for a long time.

Count me amongst the bloated ones. I have some larger sized clothes that were cast offs from my sister that I can wear as I need before heading in to the full blown maternity gear. Can you borrow (or buy) stuff that is a size larger? I find that clothes one size larger can be cheaper to buy than the proper maternity stuff.

As you get farther along regular clothes don't fit right. I tried and looked like a clown :P You can get some cheap maternity clothes if you shop smart and hit both the clearance racks and head to those lovely thrift stores!!

Plus I'm the type that wears a pair of pants more than once (unless I get dirty) so 3-4 pairs of pants worked for me. I didn't however feel the need to buy a whole lot of "Maternity shirts" I bought some oversized shirts at Old navy (who has awesome maternity as well as regular clothes!!) And they worked great :)

So, this is weird. At what point do you consider yourself to be "showing."

I have a pudgy belly, but just my belly. Usually (before today) I had a that layer of fat on my belly, but my pelvis was completely flat. Today, there's a smooth line between my pelvic area and my belly. Like, a nice rounded curve on my lower abdomen.

I"M NOT EVEN 6 WEEKS YET!!!!!

You could just be showing early or it could be just a little early pregnancy bloating. You'll know for sure in a few weeks :)

Good luck!! I'm actually not sure how I managed to gain so little. I think my body must just handle pregnancy really well... good thing I want a ton of kids. :) I'm totally not athletic at all, I've worked out a total of about 12 times my entire life, and I eat like a horse. I have an incredibly fast metabolism, though I have no desire to eat during my first trimester and I've lost 5 lbs with each pregnancy during those first three months. When I got pregnant with my first daughter, I was 130... I gained 15 pounds in the first year of marriage from a combonation of birth control and a 9 week miscarriage. By the time I got pregnant with DD#2, I was already back down to 125 (and DD was only 4 months at the time). This time DD#2 is 11 months and I've been fluctuating around 118-120 for the past 6 months or so.

I gained 18 lbs with DD#1 and 14 lbs with DD#2. My OB couldn't understand why I hadn't gained more weight, especially after my husband explained my eating habits... but I always measured perfectly and my babies came out perfectly healthy (though admittedly small... 6lbs13oz & 6lbs5oz, but as a tiny person, I'm glad they weren't any bigger).

I'm also feeling really bloated. This is my 3rd and it seems like it does happen sooner with each pregnancy.
I'm not doing maternity clothes yet b/c I *hate* them, plus I have a few stretchy yoga type shorts that will work for a while. And, also, because I gave almost all of my mat. clothes away in a fit of postpartum-hormone induced craziness. I don't know what I thinking... Well, at least now I have an excuse to get some new ones I like better! The Old Navy stuff does look cute.
Also good for the in-between stage are overalls. Now, normally I'm not an overalls type of girl but they are really comfy when pg!

I'm so glad someone posted this. I thought I was insane. I am 4-5 weeks now and my clothes are already tight around my tummy. With my 1st, I didn't wear maternity clothes until about 4-5 months!Ugh. Funny thing, even before I POAS, I had a feeling I was prego since my tummy is bloated and/or pooching out. I hope it's just bloating. I want to hide for awhile!

just a day shy of 6 weeks here and the seat belts & my levi's are driving me NUTS!
I feel puffy... it is very uncomfortable to cross my legs.

I feel silly because we were just making fun of a friend of ours who we thought was poking her belly out at 8 weeks just for the attention!!! I'm scared to death someone will notice mine!!! (i'm sure it feels a lot bigger than it looks)

I ask myself: how can something the size of a lentil cause so much discomfort? lol

My clothes still fir the same, no problems. My cousin got me a belly band for mothers day. With my last pregnancy I didnt notice any snugness until around 8-9 weeks. With my fat-slef who know what will happen. I cant believe so many people are growing out of their clothes so soon. I keep thinking I will probably make it through the whole summer!

SPEAKING of belly bands....

I JUST MADE TWO!!!!

I didn't even know what they were (my last baby was almost 10 years ago!) so I looked them up... I thought: WOW! Those are PERFECT! But.... 25 bux?

Dig out some old t-shirts.
Cut the bottom half off. (makes a tube shape)
Sew up each side to taper to fit as snuggly as you like.
WAH LAH!!!! FREE BELLY BANDS!!!!

What a relief!!!!
lol....yes i AM ordering up a couple nice ones anyway. ;-)

well my first time around I wasn't into maternity clothes until 18 or 20 weeks. It will be interesting to see what happens this time around. Of course I spend most of my time in yoga pants, so I don't think I'll notice any snugness for a while :lol

Ok, I just put on some drawstring shorts that fit comfortably pre pregnancy, and they are SO TIGHT right now. IT's obnoxious. Part of me wants to throw them away, then I remember that I will get smaller again, someday. I think this is convincing me I'm preggers.

My thighs are the same way (okay, they WERE before I had DS. Now there's more fat), although I call them biker thighs. :lol

I found that the brands with numerical SIZES fit me much better because of this than the S-M-L brands. I still had a couple of pairs of Old Navy jeans, but I invested in one or two nice pairs from The Gap, and they fit soooooooo much better because the sizing is more precise. If this is an option for you (or if you can find some used) I'd check it out when the time comes to properly move into maternity.
