Hey ladies!! I just wanted to start a thread for us to just chit-chat about the everyday goings on in our lives and any venting or thoughts that ya need to get out can go here!
I had my very first meeting with my midwife today and it was great. I feel soo comfortable with her and the birthing suite is gorgeous! So unless we have a house by the time this one comes I'll be giving birth there :)
I'm feeling sooo ill today. Very woozy and I have a very bad headache. Anyone else feeling this crummy?

I felt like hell this morning, and feeling pretty good now.
I also got two bits of rather annoying news. First of all, my dead beat sister in law will not be kicked out of her parents' house, which annoys me. This woman abandoned her daughter (saw her regulalry, but wouldn't raise her) to be a drug dealer, and then recently popped out another kid. She's 21 and a convicted felon, and my FIL and SMIL get to foot the bill.
Also, I run a small pagan church, and one of our members had randomly decided to hate me. I'm not sure why, and he would never say anything, wouldn't respond to emails, whatever. I honestly have no clue what his problem was. Well, he finally sent me an email saying he was leaving the grove, which at least settles the issue. But seriously, who the hell doesn't respond to multiple emails?!?!?!
Sounds like you had a crummy day Ashley :hugs
I'm feeling a wee bit nauseated today and seem to be hungry no matter how much I eat lol.
Does anyone else give up caffine when they are pregnant? I did last time and I haven't even really started drinking it much since but I do love my tea! Don't know if I will give it up compleetly again this time, will any of you?

I"ve given up coffee. I actually did that anyways, since it was jsut making my anxiety worse. The thing is, I LOVE coffee, so it's been somewhat hard.
But no one better touch my tea

My in laws also irritate me. My sister in law has been in and out of jail for the past year or so, and she is only 20. My mother in law just perpetuates the problem by thinking everyone else but her should should take care of said sister in law.
Yeah who just doesn't respond to emails? Like he can't say that he didn't get multiple emails.

I gave up caffine with first pregnancy two years ago and never took it back up. I do drink coffee occaisionaly now, but i try to get decaf. I really do love coffee. I've never liked soda or anything though so that wasn't a problem.

I gave up caffine with my first ds and never went back, now if I forget to ask for decaf or someone gets me a coffee, I feel like I'm on crack. I get all jittery and have a headache. I can't barely function.

I don't drink much caffiene as it is so it's not a problem.
Still feelin yicky. Yucky and icky at the same time. I'm calling it an early night tonight.

I've been trying to give up caffeine for 6 months, so this is just my excuse! :lol
I've felt pretty great!! I don't feel pregnant, except that I do. I know that makes NO sense!!
I've also noticed.....sorry if it's TMI....an "odor" change 'down there'.....it doesn't smell worse or better, just different enough that I notice when I use the restroom or change clothes. Not bad, just different. Was wondering if it's just me, or if that's a preggo thing.
Anyone else convinced they're having twins??? :lol
Ashley...sorry about that guy. Some people are just like that.

Tashauna; I know what you mean. I smell different too.
As for the twins, let me put it this way...have you read my "Outgrowing clothes" thread? I thought maternity clothes were supposed to not fit when you're less than 6 weeks pregnant!
And I've had a rather good day. Some annoyances, but also a bunch of friends came over tonight and we had a potluck. Plus, I feel great, and very pregnant.
Tshauna I remeber noticing a smell chainge early in my last pregnancy. I don't think I'm having twins but I'm convinced I would freak out and die if I did :lol

Great thread idea! I'm feeling yicky these days, too.
I gave up caffiene with my first, and thinking I'd be more relaxed this time around, I didn't try to give it up, but my body does not want it at all. So it's gone, and all the caffiene I was drinking was one cup of green tea a day. I'm a lightweight.
Today I was sitting at a red light, in my exhaustion haze, watching a woman in heels running nearly two blocks to catch the Max train. I thought there was no way she was going to make it - she was approaching from an angle where the driver couldn't have seen her to wait, and her timing was all off. But! She made it! I started to tear up. Seriously! Full on emotion. Hello hormones!
:Hug for having to deal with law breaking in laws.

*sigh* So I've been up now since 4am, unable to sleep. My dh is on call 24/7. Doctor, no... firefighter, no.... he's responsible for a web hosting company so the four calls that came in last night were not to save someone's life but were because their bloomin' web pages were down. The last one at 4am woke me up completely. :irked:
At least my kids are both in school still and I might be able to sneak a nap later.
I've more or less been off the caffeine for a while now. I'm allowing myself the occasional Boyles soda or chai. I tried to get into coffee because I thought I ought to be the coffee sort but never quite made it to the land of coffee love so giving it up really wasn't a big problems. Mostly I enjoyed the smells associated with it and I can have those still.

Tashauna- I totally noticed a difference down there about a day after I took my first +test. I notice it, but DH doesn't so I guess we're fine.
So I just started the FlyLady system and I think I'm doing pretty well. I'm giving myself some leeway because I get soo tired sooo quickly. So I've been trying to maintain what I've started (i.e. keeping the kitchen clean and the bathroom) and then adding something little each day. Hopefully I can do it!
Is everybody getting their DRA (Daily Recommended Amount) of water each day? I need to figure out how to get myself to do that. If anyone has any suggestions I'm more than open for them :)

I love FlyLady!! I found her about 6 weeks after DD#2 was born. I've had some difficulty keeping up over the past year, but our house definitely looks better than it did a year ago, I've already done a ton of packing for our move (we still have 6 weeks here), and I'm totally more relaxed about what doesn't get done. I wish I'd found FlyLady sooner!!

I gave up caffine totally with my last pregnancy. I am not sure about this one - a cup of tea is part of my morning and naptime routine.
I am doing really poorly with water consumption. I had to give urine the other day and it was SO dark. So I have been trying to replace my tea drinking with a cup of water but it just isn't the same. :(
Oh, Ashley - I hear you about the SIL thing. My brother has done the same thing to my parents. He basically just dumped his 2 kids off with my parents. *Maybe* once every two weeks or so they spend a night at "home". It makes me so mad for many reasons but the biggest reason is it has basically taken away MY son's grandparents. :irked

Wow, I guess I'm not the only one with the crazy sense of smell. I usually have a terrible sense of smell; I make DH smell the milk for me to see if it went bad.
Well, today, I was sniffing my hand, and I realized it stunk. My DH could be a drug sniffing dog, so I had him smell it. Apparently my hand reeks of sponge that was used in a metal sink. He smells it all the time and it annoys him. I didn't even know metal sinks could give sponges a smell that would rub off on hands! It's definitely annoying me too.

So I had my mw appt today, I LOVE her!! I'd never met her before, the sucky thing is she's transfering to a hospital about 1/2 hr away in June/July. I want to tell dh but I'm keeping it quiet until she transfers then saying, "Well sorry babe, I've already started with her, I guess I gotta go out there" :lol :duck: Bad wife..but I really love her! She's got the mindset of a lay midwife but it an herbalist and CNM. I scored pretty good! But she bumped my due date up to Dec 20th, but I'm keeping my original until I get my u/s and see what the measurements say. But I had my first craving, Taco Bell a crunchwrap surpreme. OMG it tasted so good going down but ughhh gut bomb after...guess I'll learn.:lol

05-10-2007, 10:51 PM
Aimee- Half an hour isn't too bad. And if you love your midwife, then you need to stay with her :D As for the due date I agree with waiting until the u/s. It's a little better at determining.
I made cookies tonight and now I feel like yuck. Too much dairy maybe...
Funny story...
I'm at the midwife's yesterday and we're trying to figure out my EDD and I said my last period was between the end of february beginning of april. We went on for a while and then she came back to it and started asking all these questions like was there any point that I couldn't have concieved yada yada. Then I realized what I said. I had meant to say end of march beginning of april. Poor woman was having a field day trying to figure things out. I'll chalk that one up to early preggo/ mommy brain :)

Sitting on the porch watching a rain storm (hope it keeps up we're in a bad drought).
I've got my mother, mil and my brother and his wife (who is pregnant and due in Nov) coming to have what we always call "breakfast meal" at our house Sunday afternoon. I'll be cooking biscuits, bacon, sausage, gravy, eggs, cheese grits... that sort of thing. Hopefully my morning sickness won't act up that day. It seems to come and go randomly.
My girls are away at their first slumber party tonight so I'm a little worried about them. Isadora, my youngest saw me coming out of the bathroom last week with the pregnancy test and flipped out so the girls both knew I was pregnant as soon as we did. She's a social butterfly and is apparently incapable of keeping a secret (though we did try to get her to) and now everyone at her school knows I'm pregnant. I've been having to follow behind her and say that it's VERY early. I'm still so paranoid.

Hi everyone! I thought I'd join the chit-chatting.
Mommy2Austin: thats so funny, I keep doing the same thing with saying when my last period was. Only I keep saying end of april, beg. of May. And then I think, no that's not right...:scratch
I actually can't remember when exactly my LMP was or when we conceived so I'm not really sure what my EDD will be. So would an ultrasound would needed for that? I wasn't planning on having one, but if I need to its ok I guess.
I'll be travelling a bit be seen by my mws- about 30 min. or so. Well worth it for me.
Lets see, for Mothers day were going out with my mil for lunch and my parents for dinner.
Chavaleh: how sweet that your dd is so excited about the baby! I'm paranoid too so we don't plan on telling anyone until 12 weeks or so. My 5yo doesn't even understand the concept of a secret so we're keeping it from our kids too, unfortunately. If he found out I'm sure the whole world would know before too long!
I am trying to give up caffeine. Gave it up totally with my other two but I am seriously struggling this time. Starting tomorrow I'm going to try to switch to green tea.
I'm looking foward to getting to know everyone here, DDC's are so fun! :)
Mommy2Austin
05-12-2007, 06:54 PM
Jillybean- I don't think you would have to get an ultrasound if you really didn't want it. In all honesty you'll know when the baby is coming when it's coming lol. But if you would feel more comfortable knowing a date then ultrasound would be the way to go!

So I won't be on for a few days probably. We're going on an impromptu/last minute/emergency trip to Virginia to help a friend move. Long story short the people she was living with decided not to pay the bills and since her husband (the guy that has been staying with us) is here already we're just gonna drive out and get their stuff. We're supposed to be back on Wed. and yes we're taking Austin :dizzy: That's gonna be sooo much fun (dripping sarcasm). So I'm not gettin nothin for mommas day except a huge headache and a cranky roadtrip yay!
All sarcasm aside I don't mind helping them out. They are our best friends and they'd do the same for us. I'm just pregnant and cranky :gloomy: Hopefully Austin will be good and we can get there and back without any problems.
ETA: Yeah so scratch this. We don't have to go :D We came up with a different plan that doesn't involve us driving at all yay! I might get my mommas day after all!!

Our church had a potluck lunch to celebrate mother's day, and all the moms got to go through line first. We haven't told anyone yet so of course I had to wait. It was totally not fair to make the starving pregnant lady go through line last!!!:lol I guess there are benefits to spilling the beans early on. :lol
My DH made it up to me, however. He bought me earrings for mother's day!! He's bought me jewelry only a couple times ever, so it's really special to me. :couple Seems like he's getting more excited about the pregnancy too. Anyone else's DH/partner do anything special for mother's day?

Hi ladies - I'm still a bit in shock...we only got the BFP yesterday, after me wondering what was taking my AF so bloody long to come...:lol uh, hello.
But my wonderful dh took the kids and me to Butchart Gardens for Mother's Day - a beautiful 55 acre garden site just 30 minutes north of us. The kids behaved SO well, we saw lots of gorgeous flowers, I took lots of pics, there was ice cream - Mother's Day ROCKED this year!

We just got back from the best Mother's Day weekend ever. :)
May 9th was our 4th anniversary, and I convinced DH to take me to a little bed and breakfast and leave the girls with his parents, so we could celebrate properly. So... Friday afternoon we drove the two hours to his parents house and dropped off the girls. Then we went to a little bed & breakfast which was only five minutes from his parents. I got a nice relaxing bubble bath in the HUGE whirlpool tub before we went out to dinner. We both ate so much for dinner that we didn't want dessert right away... but we both knew we'd want it later. So we stopped at a grocery store on the way back to the inn, and bought two pints of ice cream. We left them in the cooler I'd brought to store pumped breastmilk, and ate them later that night.
We had a wonderful relaxing evening together and I ended up falling asleep sometime between 12 and 1am while watching a movie. I woke up about 8am... engorged, but totally rested. A full hot breakfast was brought to our room and we ended up checking out early because we missed our girls.
Then we spent Saturday relaxing with DH's family, and my MIL went on a nice long drive with me to help our girls take a nap. When I got up Sunday morning and went to get breakfast there was a pile of presents at my place along with a small bouquet of tulips (my favorite flower!!). That was the 4th time since I met my husband that he bought me flowers. (Once while we were dating, once the day he proposed, once right after I miscarried in 2004, and then this Mother's Day!!!) We went to church with DH's family, then all the men cooked dinner for the women. It was wonderful to see everyone, and not to have to cook.
Such a relaxing weekend!!! I think I'm ready to get back to business now... hopefully that weekend will last me a few months, because I'm not sure we'll have time or funds to do it again for a while.
:)

Mmmm Mamas, those Mother's Days sound so nice! It's good to hear examples of dh's showing their love and affection, :throb and mamas getting to relax some. How lovely!!!
This Mother's Day I got a bouquet of faux flowers from dd (made from colourful straws, construction paper, a paper towel and gold string) :lol as well as an adorable card that says I LOVE YOU MOMMY and MOMMY BE HAPPY (?). It's covered in her scribblings and her KISSES! She put lipstick kisses all over the card, it's covered in her cute fat lips! SO ADORABLE!!!!!!!!! This made my day.
I was a bit surprised that dh, who normally pamper[ed] me [BEFORE CHILD WAS BORN] did zilcho. We were standing in line at the store buying Mother's Day cards for our mothers, and he turned to me and said, "You don't mind that I didn't buy you anything, do you?" :duh :duck: :irked: :shake

My Kidlets and Me - I used to live in WA and my FAVORITE place in the whole world is BC!!! I absolutely LOVED Victoria - I didn't want to get on the ferry to go home every time I went. Butchart Gardens, tea at the Empress :yum, Lush :yum, walking around downtown, oh and Murchies. *sigh* I miss it. It is SO beautiful there. There was a park around there too that was so peaceful but I don't know the name. I was there the day the Queen came a few years ago but didn't see her. Interestingly she came to Richmond, VA last a few days ago, where I now live, but I didn't see her then either. :lol Anyway, I just had to say I think you live in HEAVEN. I am sure the tourists get to be a pain but it is still heaven to me. :)

Thanks so much ladies :)
Can I ask the ladies that have had a miscarriage a question?
How long did your bleeding last? I started last night and it was like medium flow (sorry tmi!) and now it's like a light period. I'm just wondering how long to expect it to last. Thanks again :) I may just stick around to chat because I like you guys :)

My miscarriage was in 2004, so it's been a few years. If I remember correctly, after the baby and placenta passed, bleeding continued like a heavy period for about 24 hours... then cut back to a light period for a couple of weeks...
However, I've always been a heavy bleeder, my average period is 9 days, with at least four of them super heavy.

My miscarriage was at 4.5 weeks, so really early on. I also have a very light flow. My miscarriage was rather light and painless. It lasted I think 3 days.

My miscarriage was at nine weeks but the baby died at about 6 weeks. I bled for about three weeks before the MC and then for about a month after. Then, after a three week break, I bled for another three weeks. It ranged from light to medium bleeding. My OB pressured me to go in and get a D&C but I really just wanted my body to get over it on its own. I think in a lot of ways I was just trying to hold on to the baby in any way possible.

:hug I'm so sorry that you lost this baby, and am sending healing vibes ~*~*~*
My miscarriage in 2004 was at 5 wks, started with light cramping and bleeding, then it was like having a period and the yolk sac passed all of a sudden - bloop! In to the toilet! I think it lasted almost a week.
How are you doing now?

I'm alright. The bleeding is still going as well as the cramping, but I think I passed everything this morning. Surprisingly I feel good. I'm not overly upset (any more) and I'm really looking to the bright side of things. Now I can work on losing some more weight and spending more 1X1 time with DS. I guess I just feel like if I dwell on the bad I'm only hurting myself and my family. I'm still having sad moments and hormonal changes like crazy which I expected, but I'm doing ok. I'm looking forward to my vacation in June and to TTC some day in the future :)

Sarah :( I'm so sorry to hear it, but I'm glad that you're doing okay. :hug
How's everyone doing, symptom wise? I've got some mild cramping which I'm sure is just my Belly Bean digging in further. I'm also gassy :bag: and constipated. Blech. DD is still nursing and sometimes when she latches on, it feels like her mouth is full of glass. But, for the most part, we're still doing okay with the nursing. I have no plans to wean her yet, and am not opposed to tandem nursing if that's what ends up working for us. :D

I hope this doesnt scare you, but I bled for 47 days. I was around 8-9 weeks when I miscarried, so that may have something to do with it. The dr. had told me it should last 1-3 weeks, so i was a little surprised when it lasted over 6 weeks. But, no one I have talked to on here or in real life has bled that long.

No it doesn't scare me :) I'd like to get some worst case scenarios just in case it does happen to me. Right now it's a light period and this morning I have no noticable cramps. Maybe I'll get lucky and it will be a short process.
Thanks for all the info and well wishes ladies:) It really helps!

I don't remember exactly how long I bled after my m/c but it seemed like it dragged on and on. I think the m/c with heavy bleeding took about a weekend and then about a month of light bleeding and some spotting. It really seemed to drag on if I remember correctly.
I don't know if this is true or not but I feel like the m/c kind of really cleaned me out. I had one kind of weird period after the m/c and then got pregnant with my son on the next cycle. Hopefully you will have a similar experience. :wink
There is a lot of good information on the pregnancy loss forum. I think I remember a lot of people saying to drink lots of water during the process. Here is hoping for a speedy recovery. :hug

Moms who bled 4-9 wks -- did you go to the doctor?
**********TMI ALERT!***********
I had some very weird periods before we recently ttc. VERY VERY heavy and a few months ago one was rather ODIFEROUS. I wondered if I had m/c or something. Very weird. Anybody else notice the odiferous part with their m/c? My m/c in 2004 was not. ***SORRY that was TMI***
Symptoms: I had a lot of gas to begin with, but now it's constipation. Still exhausted a lot of the time. Today CRANKY but quite recently I was better.
Today at work I noticed my right boob began feeling itchy (bottom, inside, under the nipple. I kept looking in my bra to see if something was in there and noticed several things on my boob that looked like little bite marks. A flea? My cubicle mate has TONS of plants. Did I mention it's a jungle in there? Others have been complaining about some migrating fleas. Tonight I'd had a good look at my boob....there's seven spots that are itchy and pink/red.... perhaps little bites? Think I'll give it a few days and see if it just goes away. Couldn't be a rash, could it? (paranoid)

I didn't go to the doctor. My dr. had prepared me for large amounts of blood and from what I read on the pregnancy loss boards it seemed a lot of people were amazed at the amount of blood - many went to the hospital thinking something was wrong only to find out they were in at the end of the m/c. Mine was rather painful for a day or 2 when the bleeding was heaviest and I never really saw anything that looked like tissue - just a lot of clotting. I don't remember an odor.
After the main m/c the bleeding afterward was more like a light period and spotting. I knew you bleed awhile postpartum so I guess I just thought it was like that. Although I didn't bleed nearly that long postpartum. I guess maybe the week or so after the m/c it was like a normal period then tapered to light/spotting that lasted another several weeks. I wish I could remember better. :o I never felt cramping, that I remember, after the first week. I think I had cramping pretty badly during the m/c then do-able cramps every now and then for maybe not quite a week. Then the rest was pain free (well, physically pain free, emotionally was a different story). So I guess because it wasn't really painful and wasn't really a lot of blood I didn't really feel like something was wrong.
That is probably more than you wanted to know - sorry to be so rambly. Just trying to remember as much as I can for you. :hug

Hello fellow Canadians! I live in Ontari-ari-o but had visited Vancouver and Victoria once a handful of years ago. So beautiful!!! I can totally agree with that. On the ferry ride to Victoria we saw whales in the water. That was so profound! What a gorgeous province, B.C.

We have a heartbeat!! It was 160bpm,
I had a doc appt yesterday at 6w, 2d and we saw the little flicker in the corner of the screen, but no lil one! I know it sounds stupid, but I was really freaked out..... i called my sister, and she was like "what, you think there is just a heart floating around in your uterus?" MAYBE! It really freaked me out. How can you tell how fast it was going? The doc was kinda like that lil flicker is the hb, there's your ovaries.... and so on..... didnt even focus on it. and that was the infertility guy!!!!!!
In addition to that, the night before I was sitting in a restaurant with dh and a friend, and i felt like i was bleeding..... i went to the bathroom, and sure enough, there was like a 4 inch circle of red blood on my pants..... i freaked out, walked out, sat down, and starting crying that I was having another m/c
from that point on (Tuesday night) I had very minimal spotting (light brown) only when i wipe, and none today
So, also at my doc appt, they told me that the pregnancy has detached a little bit from the uterine wall, so that sure dont sound good, but the doc said that all is not lost, and because there is a hb, there is a good sign that this can continue on to a normal healthy pregnancy....... at 6 1/2 weeks, i am practically on complete bedrest :irked:
dont know what to do..... or think..... any suggestions???

:hug How scary. :( I spotted with my first, the same way you're describing, at about the same time; around 6/7 weeks. It lasted a couple days and wasn't bad, and wasn't bright pink or red, but brown. Your body is purging some old yuck to make more room for your baby :)
But, OMG, that is scary. I know it.
I know how irritating it must be to be on bedrest, especially this early. :( Hang in there. You're in our thoughts and prayers.

I dont think I've had any type of cravings yet, or anything, but last night around 10pm, I ate a practically a whole jar of tropical fruit, including grapefruit, and my stomach was on fire :lol I kissed DH goodnight around midnight, and got into bed. Now where I am from in NJ there are like 5 Dunkin Donuts within 10 minutes, and 3 of them are 24 hours. Where I live now.... I didnt think there was one 24 hour!!!! So I woke up at 1:30 because my stomach hurt from that fruit, and I said "I want an everyhting bagel toasted with butter right now from D&D" DH was like are you serious? Go back to sleep!!!! I absolutely refused until he googled the dunkin donuts, and I called at least 8 of them, and discovered there was a 24 hour one 2 cities away!!! So we had a nice drive at 2am for an everything bagel, and it tasted sooooooo good..... So here, at 8am...... I'm thinking about going and getting another one!!! DH loves me!!!!!!!!!! He really loves me!!!!!!!!!

I hadn't had any cravings until last night too. I made DH run to McDonald's for French Fries, and Wendy's for a frosty. Thankfully, that was only 11:30, and both drivethru's are open til 2am.
Man, those were good!!!
