that arent expensive or ugly, lol. i looked at lane bryant, and i cant see paying $50 for pants and $40 for shirts, and most of what they have isnt my style anyway. im moslty a jeans and t girl, with some nicer shirts sometimes and a few funky long skirts thrown in too.... and i hate the tank top look that seems to be out there now, and my boobs are huge, so shirts with the under boob trim and stuff usually hit half way, and i HATE that :lol

can anyone help?

I went to Motherhood Maternity and tried stuff on till I found out what my size was there, and then went on eBay and bought stuff in my size there......WAY cheaper! (I actually found some pretty cheap stuff on clearance at Motherhood while I was there too, so that didn't hurt.)

I also got some stuff off of Craigslist as well, but that depends on the size city you live in (If you are not familiar with Craigslist, it is an online site where people advertise stuff for sale in larger cities all over the world. You find the state and are you live in and see what's up for grabs. Try typing in plus maternity and see if anything comes up. If you don't live in an area listed, you can sometimes arrange to have stuff mailed to you.)

Also if you have Ross's where you are, they sometimes have plus maternity clothes--the shirts range from $6 to $14 and the pants are about the same price. However--I have found it is a hit or miss on which Ross stores actually carry the plus size and not just the "normal" maternity sizes.
Lastly, I found that I could also just get away with buying larger size shirts (had to go with real maternity pants though). I went to Ross and tried on shirts that were about a size up, and found quite a few that worked throughout my whole pregnancy (40+ weeks right now).

Hope you find something that works!

EDIT--I just noticed you are in Germany...So Ross's is probably out--but Ebay/Craiglist should still work!

I'm 29 weeks and still wearing a lot of my regular shirts. They were mostly big in the belly anyway. You can splurge on maternity jeans and then get some shirts in a size or two bigger than normal.

I'm trying to scrimp by on clothes. I bought some from Motherhood, a couple things from old navy, and found some at second hand stores.

I'd look at places like the TP and/or eBay. I'm actually going to sell some of my older maternity clothes to raise money for the newer stuff! :lol Mine were mostly tees and such that are fine, but just were not flattering for my flabby arms. :eyesroll So time to upgrade!

I did splurge on Lane Bryant pants (one pair jeans, one pair capris, and one pair cargo/convertible) and REALLY like them. I always had trouble finding really good maternity pants that fit right and were comfy and all that. These have been really good! So I agree that you might decide to splurge on something like that that doesn't have the flexibility of tops. I still wear a few of my pre-pg tops, but I was working on NOT buying humongous tops (which tended to make me look bigger than I am/was), so they started feeling too small before long! A few empire-waist tops still look good, though. They're the ones that I tried on in various sizes, and skipped a size when DS told me, "you look like you have a baby in your tummy!" :lol This was of course about a month before I actually was pg! ;)

Oh, I've heard of JCPenney and/or Sears, but had little to no luck in stores. Online is generally your best bet - but check return policies!

I bought on Ebay (Motherhood brand) and from the Motherhood website. I really like my Motherhood things the best. I have some things from LB and other places too that I wear. The things from Motherhood are more hip and youthful in my opinion.

Motherhood was all right for me. I couldn't find ANY plus sized skirts! Luckily some of my elastic waist ones lasted me through. Definitely see how many of your old clothes will still fit--the bigger you are the longer it takes to make a difference.

I had real trouble with pantyhose--the only brand that worked for me was Spanx which are super-expensive. (But you might have better luck, I had to rely on what I could buy online or get from my mother.)

I'm huge in the boobs and never have a prob with Lane Bryant's empire waisted shirts landing mid boob. They almost always land perfectly.

I pretty much HAVE to go with Lane Bryant! I am a size 24 and tall. I was SO excited to hear they had maternity, but wishing they had more than one or two types of capris. Now, I don't always like their shirts.. blahhh but I can sometimes find other empire wasted shirts elsewhere.

Other places just don't make clothes that fit me right, even if I can find a size 24. I don't think they actually put a size 24 woman's proportions in there - I think they just super size a regular size 6 proportions.

yeah, now i can, lol... i found a skirt i liked on the motherhood site, but we cant afford it right now.... im seeing lots of shorter skirts though, and i like mine ankle length.... im gonna keep looking for shirts though... i might just end up buying some regular ones a size up, lol... its nice to know the lane bryant ones dont hit mid boob, ive never bought from there, just window shopped online :)

I think it was late last year. I know it was before January 'cause I told my DH it was a sign that we needed to have another. ;)

Funny thing... I read recently that LB was the first store to ever sell maternity clothes, back around the 19-teens. Before that, there were no real clothing options for pregnant women - they were expected to make their own clothes, or hide their pregnancy by staying indoors. I wonder when they stopped making/selling maternity... glad they're back in the market. :)

I've had good luck with JCPenny and Sear's... also Motherhood Maternity. Depending on how plus-sized you are, you may be able to wear some of the XL Liz Lange stuff at Target. I think she goes up to a 18/20.

For tops, a lot of time I just buy a slightly larger top at Lane Bryant or Avenue. (Avenue online will send you gobs of coupons if you sign up for their newsletters... literally, one per week.)
