I seem to remember hearing that the schedule in Japan starts at a later age than in the US. Does anyone have any info on that?

The "standard" vax schedule as listed in my children's health record notebook (boshi techo):
BCG they do at the 4month, public heath center check-up.
Polio they do twice total... can start at 5 months, but it depends on what month they actually do the vaccine. They perform the vaccine twice a year. Where I am now, it is April and November. So if your child is 4 months old in April, you have to wait until November for the next shot.
DTP they start at 6 mo. Have to get it from you doctor, not at the health center.
They don't do MMR, but you can get measles and rubella as individual vaccines.
IME, can't get the bacterial menengitis or mumps vaccine here. Not sure what else isn't available.
You can decline or delay vaccines.
HTH.
