Hello there! We're going to both nights in Camden and are still on the fence for IT...I just don't wanna do that drive, ughhhh. If we go to IT, we'll be taking our children (4 yo and 22 mos) and we'll be camping with our tour phamily. Camden will be parents only.

Not to take away from your tribe at all (cuz believe me, I'm tickled to talk phish 24-7), but there is also a phish thread I just found on the books/music/media board about summing tour and who's doing what shows, if you're interested in checking that one out. :D I'd give a link, but it will most likely fail.

Do you do much phish touring year round? We used to practically live on tour prekids but now just hit what we can and try for 1-3 shows from each tour so that we get a nice phill by the end of the year, each year.

Fave show (that you've been to or heard)? First show? Cool band member sightings? Seen many shows? Can't stop talkin about how trey looks like chuck norris and fish is really russel crowe??? hahaha Did you do any of the NYE run?

I'll live vicariously through you mamas...we are in Texas, no shows for us :crying

the fact that our dd detests the car makes it even more of a challenge for us to see a show.

We hope to be able to see some shows next summer when we head up east for the summer :thumb

I did both phish tours and furthur tour in 2000. I miss it soooo much! I'm going to try to make it to as many shows as possible this summer. We were down at bonnaroo and then we went to second night of camden for the dead just a few weeks ago (which was AMAZING!). I'm still undecided about IT. Being a single mom with a two year old and knowing the scene I have a lot of thinking to do about going. My friend has an extra for me but we'll see how the summer goes I guess.
I was actually supposed to leave tonight to hop on phish tour in Utah but our plans fell through and we ended up not going :(. I'm bummed but I guess that was the way it was meant to be. I'll be at the camden shows for sure and probably burgettstown. I would love to meet up with some of you and maybe we could caravan down depending on where everyone lives. You can drop me and e-mail at surendr2thaphlow@aol.com or catch me on AIM using surendr2thaphlow. talk to you mamas later
much love and safe travels

Do you know that you only live like 20-30 miles from me???? I will definitely be emailing you!! We'll have to meet up in Camden one or both nights, indeed. :D

We changed our tour plans around and around this summer, but also caught the dead 2nd night (that was my 31st bd, and agreed-niiiice one), and are also still undecided about IT. I think we're gonna try to unload the IT tix at Camden  We flirted with the B-town to camden idea but couldn't get babysitters lined up for all that so settled on Camden (to IT), which was all after Deer Creek PTBM fell thru (I LOVE LOVE :love camping...and it is sooo phun to do out there).

Does anyone else hate the new phish tix by mail system???? I prlly just do b/c I NEVER missed out on mailorder via the schive except for most NYE shows since they started mailordering, and now I haven't hit yet w/the new system except for the show of all shows to hit, imo-Nassau, 2/28/03...soooo glad I have a cool mailorder ticket for that nice lil memory of a show.......ahhhhhhhhh

Me me!!!! I am leaving for a phishing trip this Phriday. We are hitting the East Troy shows with my HUGE 36 week preggo belly! Dh is secretly hoping we have the baby at one of the shows:rolleyes:

We took in five shows during the winter tour. That rocked! I am going to pay extra special attention to how folks handle kids at the shows since bean will be touring with us in the phuture.

Yoopervegan-goin to shows pg can be a PITA, but it is worth it, to me, not that I've done too terribly many, but did do Trey tour at the Mann in philly when I was about 2 wks away from having Ian!! I was hot, huge, and unbelievably (sadly) offered drugs!!!:eek Yeah, cuz every woman 38 wks pg NEEDS to drop some acid .

Ok, to counter that neg energy...here's a happy pg at phish story: Nov '98 in Hampton for that run, I'm about 5 mos pregnant. Right before that tour, they launched the white tape cd and had a typo on it-NO2 instead of N2O so I wrote them about the mistake and gave the chem story as to why and they wrote me back, thanking me (still have the postcard). So, I'm telling hubby in Hampton that wouldn't it be funny if they played tube (you know the line-w/science, I felt that I could help....). Right after the rock n roll opener, they played tube! :p So then I thought I noticed Trey lookin at me and specifically my belly after that...2nd night...end a beautiful divided sky and then BAMMO! Out of nowhere, Cry baby cry....well, I surely did right then and there...and then cbc segued into boogie on reggae woman (if you saw me in person you'd know this is neat b/c I have dreads to my arse). Further, if you listen carefully to that show, Trey's voice cracks like he's gonna cry in cbc and then in boogie on he says "I'd like to see BOTH of you fall deeply in love...." and that isn't the right word there-both is usually just "you"...I felt like that was directly to me and the hubster! That show has always been special to me for those sentimental reasons...

I hope you have a wonderful and safe summer of happy shows that give you fond memories! :hug Let us know how it goes!!

I figure there are probably lots of doulas and midwives around if I need them:) I have been watching the weather, it looks like it is going to be hot. I have only been to Alpine Valley a couple of times and cannot remember how strict they are about water. I usually get mine dumped at the shows but usually try anyway. They should allow people to bring it in for outside shows. I am feeling pretty good so I think the shows will be great. I had wicked all day sickness during the winter tour but still had a blast! Nothing like puking your guts out in a phishy restroom....

Neat story Phishmama! I sometimes feel a personal connection even though I have never had any great close encounters like that.

I too got the drug offerings during winter tour. People could not tell I was pregnant yet but it still made me feel a little "wrong". And yes, some people do think preggo women need acid  Not so good.....

Good luck to everyone on their way! Three more days!

Hey Julie, I just got in the mail today a copy of your birthday show on disc! It's so nice, skylar and I were dancing all around my room (until he fell asleep...lol). If I had a burner I could make a copy of it for you but I don't. If you have a burner we should get together sometime and you could make a copy. If you want I could hook up my tape player and copy it onto tape for you but the sound quality won't be as good. Where abouts do you live? Did you ever go to the drum circles at the rock garden in philly? I think it wasalong Kelly Drive down the street from the museum. I used to go all the time back in like 99 and 2000. I know they moved them since then but I'm not sure where to. It's so cool there's another touring mama on moethering that lives so freakin close to me. I've been on these boards for at least a year now. Anyways, I'll talk to you soon.
much love

Here's the setlists for day one at IT:

Phish - IT - Loring Air Force Base, Limestone, ME

Saturday August 2, 2003:

Soundcheck: Tela, ?

Set I (~1:50): AC/DC Bag, Yamar*, Runaway Jim, Reba**, Birds, Meatstick***, Two Versions of Me, Vultures, Limb by Limb, Cavern

Set II: Disease, NICU, Brother@, Lawn Boy, Discern, Waves, David Bowie

Set III: Rock and Roll, Seven Below, Scents and Subtle Sounds, Bug

Encore: Dog Log > The Mango Song

*w/ Jim and Timber Ho teases, approx 20min
**w/ whistling
***w/ Japanese lyrics
@"Short and sweet"

That Tela soundcheck makes me nervous...I have this horrible fear that they'll break out gamehenge for those weary travellers who made the trek up north. Maybe so, maybe not, as ac/dc bag was the opener, but not always considered part of the gamehenge saga...

The Camden shows were great. I enjoyed the second night more than the first. Lots of good stuff-new material, phun oldies, and Fish ON FIRE the second night, mmmmmmm! I don't know what they've been doing w/scents and subtle sounds, but I LOVED the version w/jam we got in Camden. It was nice to get a Mike's groove too-just Mike's>Hydrogen>Weekapaug without simple or other tunes thrown in the mix. They Dylan cover first night made me wish I was going up that hill to IT, too, :( I finally got my first Spock's brain...pretty darned cool since there aren't many firsts left out there for me ;) I rambling and bouncin back and fourth btwn both nights. Perhaps I'll grab those setlists and try for a succinct review, haha!

Ok, here's the camden setlists:

07/30/03 - Tweeter Center - Camden, New Jersey

Set 1: My Friend My Friend, Lonesome Cowboy Bill, Scents and Subtle Sounds*, You Ain't Goin' Nowhere**, Spock's Brain, Chalkdust Torture***, On Your Way Down, Fast Enough For You, Taste

Set 2: Twist, Bug, You Enjoy Myself, Walls of the Cave

Encore: Secret Smile

* - 25+ minutes; ** - first time played, Bob Dylan cover (includes the lyric "We'll climb that hill no matter how steep / When we get up to IT"; reports indicate that the performance was closer to the Byrds' well-known rendition of the song than to Dylan's original); ***- very adventurous version

MFMF was an unusual opener, and not really my taste, but still fun nonetheless. LCB was played well and a nice rare one. That was my first time getting that one. As soon as they started scents, I knew what it was, though I've never heard it either. I LOVED the lyrics and especially the jam for that one, and jam it they did, wheeeeeee! By the time they hit song # 4 that most of the crowd didn't know, I was lovin life, unlike the majority of the crowd who were majorly lost by that point. It is always a pleasure to get a Bob Dylan tune, and you ain't goin...was soooo apropos for the moment! Then Spock's started...WOO phureakin HOO! This is one I've been waiting and waiting and waiting for! I was so tickled by the time this puppy was up that all I could do was giggle and whoop and hollar. I think the band felt the crowd's "I'm lost and have NO clue whatcher playin" vibe so then we got the obligatory CDT. Again, rocking! NICE jammin on that one. That song gets funnier and funnier to me the older I get. ;) On your way down-again, rare, old and sooooo not expected, but so nice. They were funkin it up by then. FEFU is one of my faves and I totally loved this one too. Then the set closer w/taste. Ahhhhh. More goodness. That set must've been a long one, though I have no idea how long it was. The second set was more to bring the kids back down w/regulars. Twist opening had me going right away. That's another of my faves. Bug was fitting and played well. YEM was off the hook! You could tell phish lost the crowd again and there were many youngins not quite sure what the heck was going on, esp once it got into the spooky jam. I just laughed my tail off!! It was a great YEM, one of the best I've seen live, and I've seen oh about 20 or so YEMs. Wall is one of my faves from the newest material and I think it ROCKS as a set closer...perfect placement! Fishman played it up too. Mmmmm, drums! The encore was sweet and poignant and the lyrics were really nice...again, a new one for me! Even though the crowd was young and lost a lot of the night, it was a great show for the "old timers"...gosh, does that ever sound funny to say. But it was all only a prelude of what was to come.............

07/31/03 - Tweeter Center - Camden, New Jersey

Set 1: Llama, Moma Dance, Divided Sky, Dirt, Seven Below, The Sloth, Water in the Sky, Wolfman's Brother, Possum

Set 2: Piper, Mike's Song > I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove* -> Free, Friday, Harry Hood

Encore: Frankenstein

* - with "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" tease

Llama opener-WHOA! They were going like 100 mph on that one...thank goodness it was short n sweet b/c it was waaaaaaay too fast for me to jam out to. I've been waiting for another moma for a while so this one was quite welcome and appreciated. I love how they worked black eyed katy instrumental into this song...nice one! THen my divided sky. Crisp, clear, nice fun pause, no mistakes that I heard...just a jam for all times. Gosh, I LOVE DS!!!! Then right when we were mellowing a bit, perfectly placed Dirt. I like this one too. The seven below was cool and nice to hear. Sloth was funny b/c yeah, in camden, you are indeed down in the ghetto. ;) Water was fitting since we just got dumped on w/rain. I always enjoy that song anyway. Wolfman's got funky and jammed a bit so that was great fun too. Possum was shorter than I like it to be and didn't jam out too much, but closed the set nicely and left me wanting MORE for set II. The second set Piper opener was NICE...I really liked how they jammed this one, only I wish they built it up more and for longer in the beginning, but it still rocked. Then came what I've missed for some years now-Mike's groove...mmmmmmm. The Mike's song was perfect w/a perfect and not too long jam, then a wonderful hydrogen that wasn't too short w/trey really playin from the heart, then into a rocking weekapaug that got everyone groovin. Good stuff! I always like Free and the jams they come up with on that song and this version was no exception! Nice one!! It meant a lot to be able to yell the word FREE! Then, as if to read my mind, they gave me my fave phish tune, and the 23rd time I've seen it live-Harry Hood. This one was fabulous and definitely one of my fave ones I've seen. I coulda done without the glowsticks, but you know how that goes...The encore was perfect, imo. One of the best Frankensteins I've ever seen, maybe the best, dunno yet, and perfect since Fishman was ON the second night. Totally bad@$$!! That's yet another cover they take over and own as if it was/is their own. What a way to end two days of wonderful music! :D

:thumb Well said Julie! It was so great to meet you and Rick down there! First night was good but Skylar was sick so I didn't do much dancing but first night I thought got blown away with the first note of second nights show. Skylar was all better and he loved the rain and he was jammin up on my shoulders and he fell asleep during setbreak (couldn't have timed that better if I tried) and I put him in the stroller and :banana all night. The boys were right on thursday night. I called most of that show and was happy as heck to get my divided sky i didn't think they'd play again till IT. I was really hoping for a nice bathtub gin but I guess that means I have to see them again ;) Hope everyone at IT is having a blast!
much love
