We are going to be birthing at a birth center that is located about 45 minutes from our home. And our MW has indicated that she will look into the likelihood of us having a lotus birth (though she hasn't done one - especially not out of the birth center) She suspects that we'll be able to do it without any problem....
However, there is the problem of carrying the placenta back home. Does anyone have any experience with this? After a thorough washing, I hear we can put certain herbs on it to preserve it and keep any odors away...
Also, we want to keep the placenta...I've heard of benefits from ingesting it for both mother and child. (Though it made me cringe when I first heard of such a proposition...) I've had a past where I was quite prone to depression - and I hear that consuming the placenta is quite beneficial, especially concerning post-partum depression. We plan to grind it and encapsulate it...but, I haven't yet found a great method to do so.
Does anyone have any experience with such tasks?
(And I appologize to any momma that finds this completly disgusting...I know it seems bizzare...My mother tries to convince me to do otherwise every single chance she gets.)
