Yesterday and today I've had a sharp pain on the right side of my belly. I'm 23 weeks and growing like crazy... It almost feels like the muscles are overstretched and almost tearing? It's definitely different than the normal muscles stretching feeling I've had for weeks. It's very localized and happens mainly when I'm standing up and moving around... It feels muscular - it's also different from the round ligament pain I've had earlier in the pregnancy, which was deeper. Any ideas? Should I be worried?

could you be constipated? I get a bad pain on my right side and it usually means I need to have bm. I get it when I lay on my right side.

If you stil feel regual movement I wouldn't be worried.

Definitely not that - it feels muscular and right under the skin... Thanks though! I've had my share of that too...

I may be calling the doctor - I'm wondering if it's a hernia starting or something awful?

I now can't stand up straight - it makes me hunch over or it stretches more and hurts... My doctor's office shuts down from 12-2, so I'll call at 2...

could it be a cracked rib? I had a terrible cough at the end of this last pregnancy and I cracked a rib. :( It still hurts!

That sounds awful! It's below my ribs... Thanks for the ideas and support though!

i had that same pain around the same time......it almost felt like i was bruised from the inside out and hurt something fierce....even to brush a finger by it and i doubled over when dd came running to hug bc it's where she bury's her face with her bear hugs...

my MW suggested i may be getting a few swift kicks there at night (i'm a pretty sound sleeper until i get up at 4am to pee and then that goes out the window...lol) and didn't seem to worried about it...

it lasted a week or so and went away...i started drinking more water too, it warmed up here big time...so she mentioned somethng about intercostal pain btwn the ribs when you get a bit dehydrated....

my pain was at the very bottom of my ribs btwn the last one and my hipbone area..

Thanks for the ideas - I called the doctor's office and they're getting me in today at 4:15. I can't stand up straight now at all; it feels like the muscles are about to rip or are starting to rip... Very odd, sharp pain right below the skin only when it stretches at all. It actually helps to push my hand against it. I'm hoping it's not a hernia or something??? We'll see!

Oh, and if anyoen else has any ideas it's about 5 or 6 inches to the right of my belly button and slightly lower. No bones anywhere nearby...

I'll let you all know what the doctor says... Hoping for an answer too! I just don't want it to be anything that's going to be ongoing.

Could it be uterine ligament stretching? Feels almost like a charlie horse, esp. when turning over in bed - made me hunch over it was so bad! I still have them (my youngest is 4!)!

So what happened? I had similiar symptoms with ds at around 24 wks and ended up having an emergency appendectomy. Hope it isn't something serious!

Hi - Just got around to getting back on the computer. Doc thinks (and it makes sense) that I pulled/strained a muscle (oblique) on Sunday when I was washing and waxing my car. Duh... I felt fine, but TIRED, Sunday after I did it. Was somewhat sore in that spot on Monday but ignored it, worse yesterday. He basically told me to rest and rest and more rest for today and tomorrow to let it heal and then to go back in if it's not getting dramatically better quickly. I guess it's possible to even tear a muscle in there since they are so stretched, which is about what it felt like!

I am not turning out to be one of those preggers gals that can do everything I used to do!

Sorry to hear about the appendectomy - that would be so scary! I ended up getting my 24 week appt. early since he checked everything yesterday. Baby girl is doing fine, but I am gaining so fast that if I continue at this rate I'll gain more than 50 lbs at the end, so he suggested I slow down! Guess I more than made up for that loss during the first trimester!

Make sure you watch your blood pressure. Upper Right Quadrant Pain (It is actually liver pain) like you are suggesting is a sign of PreEclampsia. It can present itself before your BP actually starts to rise. I had the exact same thing starting around 24-25 weeks until the end of my pregnancy. It also felt better when I pressed on it. www.preeclampsia.org has good info

Thanks for the update, enjoy your rest! I know what you mean, sometimes you think you can do everything.

My blood pressure is good - it was 102/48 at the doc on Tuesday and has been right around that since my first visit. Lower b/p runs in my family normally, so if mine went up I would worry! I also only have really minor swelling.

I'm trying to enjoy the rest, but frankly, I'm going stir crazy! I'm getting cabin fever for sure... It's better, but still there... I can't wait for it to feel better!
