Hi, I'm joining the club. Due 02/03/08, and I am so sick. This is my third pregnancy, so you would think I'd have this down by now, but I find this first trimester really difficult. So, what are you all drinking? I'm dehydrated and I've tried pedialyte popsicles, lemon water, ice chips etc... no fluid really sits well with me except Coke, which we all know does not hydrate. Also food. I constantly feel like if I could find the right food that I might feel a little better but so far NOTHING appeals. Am I alone? any suggestions? TIA

Tara

I'm not prego but I too have really bad first trimesters...

Have you tried dry cereal? I lived off the stuff in both my pregnacies... BIG hugs I know its difficult!

Just got my first sign of morning sickness today. With my last pregnancy all I could keep down in the morning was dry toast and a little water. Try bland foods and maybe Gatorade?

I had NO morning sickness with my daughter, so this time I hoping to have some and hoping that means I'm having a boy (probably an 'old wives tale' but I'll hold out hope). Of course I don't want to be miserable and probably have no idea what I'm asking for!

My last pregnancy I did crave ice and ate it or popcicles all the time. It helped. Also, I have heard that if you crave ice or are dehydrated you might get checked for anemia.

I'm desperately craving Vimto (do you have it over there? Tastes a bit like Dr Pepper- it's a mixed fruit squash.) and that's staying down OK. So is chamomile tea and bitter lemon, everything else is a gamble.

Often times Middle Eastern Restaurants will have Vimto. Interesting craving!

Thanks for the replies. What kind of dry cereal? And what is Vimto? Interesting how we all find something to keep down, right? The strange thing is if I don't eat anything it is so much worse! So, I have to find things to eat and it changes each day. Well, at least I know that I'm not alone - and this too shall pass.

I so feel for you. My second pregnancy was much like you are describing. For me it did just vary from day to day what I could eat. I know something that always settled my stomach a little bit was Pepsi, so we used to buy the caffeine free. I think there is something about either the cola flavor or the corn syrup that kind of coats the stomach.

This pregnancy I have been eating animal crackers when I feel queasy.

Hang in there. I know it sucks while you are going through it!

I drink lots of Talking Rain. It's bubbly without a bunch of artificial stuff. I also had a terrible first pregnancy with hyperemisis, but this round seems to be going much much better :hug
