For those who chart and/or know their date of conception...

If you know when you ovulated/conceived, do you figure your due date by that or by LMP? Especially if you didn't ovulate on or near the 15th day of your cycle? Do you have a provider who will take your word on when you conceived, or just automatically uses the little due date calculator wheel?

This pregnancy I actually did ovulate on the 15th day, so it's the same either way, but I'm curious about the accuracy of predicting due dates based on LMP, especially for women who ovulate early or late. Do many providers calculate due date based on early U/S measuring instead?

I ovulated on the twelfth day and don't know how to calculate from that, but I do know that I have had this exact same due date before and wound up with a 7-pounder on January 27.

It was an attended homebirth and if she had come on January 26, the midwife wouldn't have come. She was a full term baby, though, and from a safety standpoint one day earlier wouldn't have hurt her any.

My other two were less extreme, but I think they were both a few days earlier than my EDD or else one was on the edd and the other was early.

Back then, the rule of thumb was that anywhere between 38-42 weeks was considered full term, but I understand that the doctors don't "let" you go that late any more.

I will probably just tell people "late winter or early spring" to avoid making anyone think I'm going late just in case this one needs to cook to 42 weeks or more.

i just counted back two weeks from the date of conception and called that my LMP, even though it wasn't. :lol

I also used mymonthlycycles.com (the conception calc) which will estimate due date based on the day of conception... Feb 11 is that estimation. They are going to do an ultrasound on July 11 to confirm due date though. They don't really take my word for it!

My midwife takes my word for it. Especially since she knows I have long cycles and ovulate later, and my first child was born way later than LMP would say.

She calculated Feb 7 from an ovulation/conception date of May 17th or 19th.

I won't go in to see the doctor until I'm 10 weeks. They'll probably use the little wheel thingie even though I can tell them exactly when I ovulated. Same thing happened w/ ds, although I think they adjusted the due date after an ultrasound at one point. I figure our little bundle will come when s/he's ready no matter what I or the doctor predict!

My doctor insists on LMP. I quite like it, actually, it makes me 7 weeks today :throb (as well as 6+4)

Mary, great to see you here! I remember getting the news that Arianna was born right before I went into labor with Moses. Maybe it'll happen again! :) Do you know your due date? Mine's the 13th, for whatever that's worth.

This is what I do also. It makes it so much easier and I don't have to worry about pressure that I am past my EDD since I ovulate late.

According to my chart, I ovulated around CD 44. I have yet to choose a midwife or OB/GYN, but they better take my word for it! I had just come off the pill and was having a really long cycle. I had plenty negative HPTs and even a negative blood test before I ovulated, so I think my info is very accurate. Also, my hubby was gone for a 2 1/2 week stretch in there, so there is a chunk of time where I know I absolutely could not have conceived.

My calculations indicate I'd be due around February 5th, from LMP it'd be more like early January...

I found a edd calculator that let you put in your O day and it calculated it for me bc I didn't O till CD21 but basically you would just go by 2wks before you O'ed and that is how many weeks you'll be considered. :)
