I hope this is not spam, but I really wanted to share about...
most who read my sewing posts know that I love Berninas and have 2:love
Well now 3! My local Bernina store is the only authorized Bernina dealer for a wide, large area. So they service Berninas for schools and when schools trade out their machines, the store refurbishes them and sells them.
When we first moved to the area, I so missed my machine which was in transit with the moving co. This store actually just happened to have a batch from a school refurbished, I bought one, used it until mine came, then sold it on ebay for $150 more than I paid.
Anyhoo, the proprieter got a batch of 801's which she is SLOWLY refurbishing. I've been waiting for the one I just bought for almost 3 months. Mine cost $199; she had to get a bunch of new parts. The next one done goes to my SIL on West coast.
SO, so many people post about buying machines for $100-200 that I honestly wouldn't buy for myself. So I hope this is not spam. The 801 is a dream. Strong, sews like butter. I love the 801 sport so much that I felt I really should share. We're moving out of the area soon, so I couldn't mail any out ('cause as I said the next one goes to my SIL). But if you are interested in the store, send me a PM.
