My mom is letting me use her old sewing machine. It's still in great condition, but probably as old as I am. Anyway...there is no instruction manual (at least, I don't have it) and I don't know how to thread it!?! :( I thought it would be obvious, but everything I try doesn't work correctly. Can someone give me step by step instructions on how to thread a sewing machine? Please.

BTW...it's a Brother Pacesetter, if that makes a difference. TIA.

It is my experience that they are all different. I have a brother but it is new and so easy I couldn't imagine that it is the same. Can't your Mom help? They can be very tricky. You could also take it down to a sewing shop. They can be very helpful. If your not a big sewer they can give you some excellent tips about thread and tension. I took my machine down to a lady who helped me with a few tips that saved me SO much time. Good luck!

Yeah, I can have my mom help. I kinda wanted to get it ready today, but that's alright. :)

Here are the generic instructions from my sewing book; I hope they can help, though it does say "always follow the diagram in the instruciton book given with your machine"

1. Raise the take up lever to its highest point
2. Lead the tread from the spool pin through the threading points as follows: 1) thread guide 2) needle thread tension discs 3) thread guide 4) take up lever 5) thread guides, and 6) needle
3. Draw enough thread through the eye of the needle to start sewing

I find that usually the biggest mistake people make is to thread the take-up lever before the tensioner, or they don't get the thread into the tensioner correctly. The other place that could be a problem, if you think it's threaded right, is the bobbin, which I can't help on at all because they're all so different!

I hope you get it sorted out!!
