Is anyone else taking cod liver oil?
I am currently taking Sonne's which has 4,000 IU vit A and 400 IU Vit D. And with my prenatals, on average, another 9,000 IU Vit A (Beta Carotene) and 250 IU Vit D (I also supplement an additional Vit D 400 if we don't get out in the sun much).
What do you think? I wonder if that's too much A & D? Should I switch to a lower IU Vit D fish oil in the summer since we are in the sun alot?
According to this Weston A Price link, pregnant/nursing mothers should be getting 20,000 IU of Vit A a day. (I'm not a major follower of Weston Price, but I do think fish oils are really important): http://www.westonaprice.org/basicnutrition/cod-liver-oil-menu.html

Any thoughts? I sure could use some advice!

I take flax seed oil. Fish oil has always worried me because of mercury issues. I'd like to add fish oil to my diet, but I'm just not sure. I do try to eat healthy and safe fish at least once a week.

I take Nordic Naturals Pro DHA (fish oil)......In addition to my babies getting the good stuff, it really makes me feel great! I'm not an expert on Vit A, but I have heard you have to be really careful not to overdue it. My MW warned against Airborne or things like that, because you could create Vit A Toxin. Just check with your MW/OB. If you notice, your prenatals have very little Vit A.

One of my pregnancy books recommends not exceeding 10 000 IU of Vitamin A daily, as it can lead to birth defects. My naturopath took me off my cod liver oil, and put me on a fish oil with much less vitamin A when I told her we'd start trying for a baby.
