Hey!

What's happening? Everyone enjoying the last little taste of winter?

Nataly, which Little Gym are you going to? We go to the one in Allen.

Amy

ah! you are going to little gym too! I wish we had started sooner.

we're going to the one in plano. it's super close to the house.

has anyone tried gymboree classes? i hear that little gym is much better, and I already signed up and paid for it. but i was thinking i might take the free gymboree class for the hell of it.

i love when phoebe goes to get into something. she knows she is not supposed to fling dog food all over the floor, but she likes it. so she starts crawling over there and looks back at me to see if I'm looking. what a goober!

amy, are you going to the sb mall thing? i'm not sure now, my dad just called and said he is c\oming by....but hopefully maybehe won't stay long. but who knows he is my dad.

I am just stopping by to say hi! I have been lurking on the local boards. I can't wait until I can go to some of the gatherings, they sound like fun. Maybe we can get a mall "walking" group started in FW too, I doubt I will be driving all the way to Dallas for quite awhile :)

Here is the info page I mentioned I started. Any feedback? Geocities quit offering FTP support, Ugh!

I got very excited when I saw you were from the north Dallas area. We are relocating to the north Dallas area at the end of this school year, and I am desperately looking for a tribe.

I am posting this in several of our forums just to be sure everyone gets the info.
As you know....
• The group meeting once a month at a different city in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. We met in a park in Allen (July), Lewisville (September), and McKinney (October), at a water park in Plano (August), and a library in Plano (November).

--- March: Someone choose a place, date and time, post it here, and show up! Here are some places that have been suggested: Fort Worth mall or North Richland Hills mall, Fort Worth Museum Science and History, Fort Worth Omni Theatre, the Fort Worth Zoo, or the Fort Worth botanical garden, Denton, The Science Place at Fair Park in Dallas,

--- April 16th, 10 a.m. According to Jewell, Frisco has a neat park off 780/Main & Preston. It is Friendship Park (also referred to as McKinney Road Park) & the actual address is 8000 McKinney Street/Dogwood. It has a huge wooden playarea for our children to climb on & explore equipped with swings, bridges, forts & lots of sand for digging, etc. As a "big kid" ;) I have lots of fun there, too!
Here's a little blurb of info & a picture of the park's play structure (scroll down, it's the 3rd park listed) McKinney Road Park/Friendship Park:
http://www.ci.frisco.tx.us/parks/community_parks2.htm
For those of you semi-familiar with that area, the park is north of Stonebriar Mall. (just continue north on Preston to Main/780) Take a left (west) on Main. McKinney Street vears off to the right at a very small fork in the road. The park is just past (west) of the police station & 1 other small park. Once you see the HUGE wooden structures you know you're at the right park. :)

Anyone a taker for March???

Mamaste

Yes, we have a March date up on the calendar now! Follow the link to the local board (http://pub82.ezboard.com/battachmentparentsofdallasfortworth) .

And welcome, Terra! We look forward to meeting you when you arrive in the area. Please feel free to join our thread here as well as the local board! :wave

Hey all, I've been a hipmama regular for a couple of years, but this is my first time on these boards...so many DFW mamas, and several I've "seen" before (Hi Amy, Nataly) I'd love to jump in on one of yall's get togethers!!

I'm Christi, 27 yo single mama to Maya, 3 yo dd. We live outside of Ft. Worth. But we don't mind driving to Dallas for some extra fun mama get togethers :)

Nice to meet yall
Love,

Nataly, I've signed Alec up for Gymboree in Plano. We start on April 1st. Maggie and Kate went to Little Gym for years and had a great time.

I forgot to post a time for the playgroup/salsa party--10:30 on the 27th.

wow, I must be notorius. hehehe.

we have little gym first thing in the morning. phoebe is loving it! she finally got up on her knees to crawl and is pulling up now. check her out she is big :D

anywho....so who's all going on thursday? I hope to meet some people....I'm dying to know more mamas. well I really don't know any.

I hope i'm not really annoying or something because I met with veggie moms of plano and they never invited me back. (eek!) maybe it was cos I was too quiet? I'm painfully shy in person.

anyways, my beautiful bean wants to nurse. I must tend to her!

TwinMom
03-12-2002, 09:34 PM
Nataly, are you coming to my house in a couple weeks? It's okay if you're painfully shy here :). I can't make it on Thursday but I'd love to meet you!

I forgot one more thing. If you're coming to my house and you have a preschooler/toddler, you might want to bring "big kid" type toys. I have tons of baby toys and tons of toys for big-big kids (my twins are 8), but nothing for the inbetween stage.

I've just updated the calendar of upcoming events for D/FWers. Stop by the local board (http://pub82.ezboard.com/battachmentparentsofdallasfortworth) to see what's happening in March and April, and sign up to "host" something (all you need to do is pick a place, date and time for something you would like to do) for this summer. See you there! :wave

Whaaaa! I don't think we'll be able to make it to the Salsa Party today (or SBMall tomorrow). Evan just got over a very slight cold & well, now this prego mama ended up with it. It seems I have more than a slight cold, though. (burning throat, exhausted, sneezing, coughing up crud... I'll save you all the pretty details. LOL) So I certainly don't want to attend any of our get togethers & spread the "joy" to any of you other mamas or the children.
:crying boo hoo!!! I was so looking forward to meeting/seeing everyone today. Oh well. Catch you all next time. :(

Catherine, I will work out a way to get the GBC video back to you. Perhaps my dh can drop it off at your house or something - depending on his work schedule this week. I'll email or call you later today.

Hope everyone has fun today & tomorrow at the gatherings!!

Waaah, I was looking forward to meeting you! :(. I have two huge garbage bags of baby boy clothes for you, too. I guess you won't be needing those immediately, though. I hope you feel better and I'll get to meet you at one of the mall gatherings hopefully and pass on these clothes!

Hope you feel better soon, J!

Sorry we missed Stonebriar today. We were up every hour on the hour last night (until I figured out at about 4 a.m. that it wasn't really nursing she wanted, she simply wanted to be wrapped up in my arms and held very closely -- :love ). Mama Phat was a bit bleary this morning, so we opted for a long morning nap this morning.

Next Stonebriar in two weeks on the 11th! See you then! ~

TwinMom

I hope you guys had good naps today! Tom found Paris's barrette last night so I put it in my pocket to bring to you today...and then couldn't find it. I have no idea where it is, but I know it'll turn up.

I'll be at LLL next meeting, but you guys have fun!

anyways, I wanted to thank you, Twinmom for inviting us wednesday, we had a blast, even tho dh was really super embarrassed about spilling his salsa. i hope it came up. :)

As of right now I plan on going to the next LLL meeting. :)

Twinmom: Thanks for finding P's barrette! As a former bow-aphobe, I'm still slightly horrified that I even dress her with them. It all started one fateful day when I jokingly stuck one that had been given to us into her sweet little fluff and discovered how cute it was. I think I'm getting hooked on all that cuteness ... :blush

Nataly: Ahh, that's the beauty of meeting regularly. You can have Mommy Brain and miss an event and still not have to wait long til next time! :D

Gauge: Just peeked at your profile and saw you have older kids -- woohoo, another older mama! Feel free to private message me (or better yet, let's just talk at some upcoming gathering) about pumping and working, which I did with my first. Do you have a good pump yet? Also, you live close to me in Lewisville. If you'd like to try their LLL meetings as well, PM me for info. We meet at 7pm first Tuesday of the month and 10 am second Tuesday. Unfortunately, I won't be at the first evening meeting in April, which would probably have more working/pumping type mamas in attendance; however, if you try the morning meeting, I'll certainly be there to say hello!

TwinMom
03-30-2002, 06:09 PM
Nataly, that salsa came right up. You can't see it *at all* now, so don't worry about it!

I was just about to send out emails :). Tomorrow, 10:30, my house again. As the weather warms up we'll start going to parks or if anyone else would like to volunteer their home we could go there. I don't mind having it at my house, I just don't want you guys to think I'm hogging it or something. We're all providing a small snack to share and I'll have drinks. Sound good?

Adamina just called to say that Vivid isn't feeling well so they won't be here. Angie is coming AFAIK--who else?

nataly
04-02-2002, 08:39 PM
Pheebs and I will attend as things look right now. Dr. Brandon won't be able to make it, as they actually expect him to work! ;)

That's a bummer about Vivid. I was hoping they would show up to little gym this week since they weren't able to go last week. :(

TwinMom
04-02-2002, 10:13 PM

The Arboretum?!? I wish we could go with you guys! I've been wanting to go and do pictures while everything is pretty and the weather is still cool. Unfortunately, I've got a dentist appointment on Saturday and I'll have a house full of people on Sunday, so BAH! Maybe another time ...

BTW, P & I will be heading to Stonebriar tomorrow. We'll look for everyone at the usual spots/times ...

:( We most likely won't be able to make it tomorrow. Jonathan and Hannah have had a cold since this weekend. They are thankfully on the mend and I hope they'll be feeling better tomorrow, but Hannah's nose is still runny. :(

I'm fighting it off too, but thankfully have been winning so far. I'm trying to get lots of rest.

I'll be thinking of you all!

TwinMom
04-10-2002, 08:30 PM
I won't be there, either, 'cause I'm going to LLL.

Nataly, we didn't make it to LG. Alec was taking a nap so I didn't wake him. I'm thinking that 9:00 is just not a good time for us; he's almost always taking a nap at that time. Doesn't make much sense for me to schedule something when he needs sleep. I wish they had a different class--I can't believe that's the *only* Bugs class there is.

TwinMom
04-10-2002, 08:31 PM

REMINDER: we had two meetings last week, we have one this week, and one the next:

1. The “walking” group meeting at Stonebriar Mall in Frisco every second and fourth Thursday of the month at 11 a.m.,

• April 25th (Check out http://pub82.ezboard.com/battachmen...dallasfortworth for more details. Baby Phat started the group and the local board: Come hang out and visit with other mamas! Stonebriar Mall offers outstanding nursing and family diaper/bathroom areas and a wide range of things to snack/lunch on. There is a play area for toddlers that we can use on less-crowded days (sometimes it can be a bit hectic). Most of all, there is good company -- us! At 11 a.m., we’ll be outside Nordstrom on the lower level, in the couch area. Just look for nursing moms or maybe some wearing slings. Latecomers: Look for us upstairs in the food court after 11:30 or so; you might also try the downstairs nursing/family area across from the ice rink. Look for people wearing slings and nursing!

2. Veggie Kids meet once a month (alternating second Friday or Sunday) for lunch at a nearby veggie-friendly restaurant, park, or other location to share conversation, recipes, support, and fun! MoonBabiesMomma started this group. Their last meeting was Friday, April 12, at 11 a.m. at Central Market. According to MoonBabiesMomma, they had a super meeting today at Central Market! They had eight moms, one dad, seven kids and four babies--including our two new members Adamina and Courtney. Central Market treated them to lunch and a tour of the store and gave us goody bags with samples and coupons. See VEGGIE KIDS at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VeggieKIDSDallas/. Those who are not yet or who are almost vegetarian are also invited to join!

3. The group meeting once a month at a different city in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. We met in a park in Allen (July), Lewisville (September), and McKinney (October), at a water park in Plano (August), a library in Plano (November), and at TwinMom’s home in March for a salsa party!

• April 16, 10:00 a.m. According to Jewell: Frisco has a neat park off 780/Main & Preston. It is called Friendship Park, address is 8000 McKinney Street/Dogwood. It has a huge wooden play area for our children to climb on & explore equipped with swings, bridges, forts & lots of sand for digging, etc. As a "big kid" I have lots of fun there, too! Here's a little blurb of info & a picture of the park's play structure (scroll down, it's the 3rd park listed) McKinney Road Park/Friendship Park: http://www.ci.frisco.tx.us/parks/community_parks2.htm[/url]. McKinney Street vears off to the right at a very small fork in the road. The park is just past (west) of the police station & 1 other small park. Once you see the HUGE wooden structures you know you're at the right park.

• Somebody pick a place, date, and time in April, May, June, July, then you post it here, and show up! Here are some places suggested: a mall in Fort Worth or North Richland Hills Mall, Fort Worth Museum Science and History, Fort Worth Omni Theater, the Fort Worth Zoo, or the Fort Worth botanical garden, the City of Denton, and The Science Place at Fair Park in Dallas.

4. (AHSOM) Alpha Home Schoolers Of McKinney is an Attachment Familying, Homeschooling, Adoption Advocating group. They have regular field trips in the McKinney area that are really fun! <http://hometown.aol.com/ahsomsupport/index.html>

Hope to see ya'll Tuesday.

Ananda, Friday 11st sounds OK to me. My teenage niece has a 6-week old and lives in Arlington. I would love to introduce her to Fort Worth Mothering Magazine mamas like you. She is attending La Leche League meetings in Arlington, but still she needs more positive parenting examples because my family is not very supportive. Yesterday, my 42-year-old sister told her to "put your boob away ... how gross ... that is why I never breastfed my boys." Of course I defended her but if we could hang out with ya'll a little bit, we wouldn't need to fight these battles all the time.

Hi Mamas! So, what's the weather doing where you live? We're in McKinney & it hasn't started raining out here yet. Although it's getting darker & the feel of rain is in the air.
I was talking with my dh on his way to work & as he arrived at the Preston/Plano Pkwy area it started raining on him. I'm assuming it's heading north, but I'm certainly no meteorologist!! ;)
Just wanted to check in with everyone & see how things are going.
Evan & I have SO been looking forward to playing at Friendship Park with all of our friends! And I was looking forward to meeting a lot of the tribe that I haven't had the opportunity to meet yet!

How is your neice and her baby doing?

Cheers,

Hey everyone ~

The Stonebriar mall gatherings brought so many of us together and we enjoyed them so much that we've changed the dates and locations of this gathering to weekly at Willow Bend mall! Read all about it at our local board hideout (http://pub82.ezboard.com/battachmentparentsofdallasfortworth) .

Hope to see you at Willow Bend!

Hi, Everyone!

My DH, new baby and I will be moving to East Dallas in August or early September. I'm so glad there's an active group of Mothering mom's out there in the Dallas area!

I'm looking forward to meeting you all!

Best,
Lisa

I am in Paris (moved here from Garland a year and a half ago). I can't seem to find any AP moms around here. There is no active LLL here either. Anyone nearby?
