My thyroid has a nasty habit of going out of control when I'm pregnant. It be comes over active. They thought I might have had Grave's when I was pregnant with ds but after he was born it seemed to be working fine.

I'm going to make them check it when I go to get a confirmation at the doctors office so we can keep an eye on it before it makes me too sick to function like it has the past two times.

Anyone else here will be dealing with Thyroid health during their pregnancy?

Possibly. I recently challenged soy after eliminating it for a while, and it makes my fingers and toes go all cold. I also have a history of all kinds of other thyroid red flags, like depression, weight gain, low body temperature, etc. It's something I need to look into more. :-/

During my last pregnancy, my body seemed healthier than it had been in... forever ;-) so hopefully that will happen again. Coincidentally, I could not STAND soy while I was pregnant; it gave me the nastiest heartburn.

I was diagnosed hypothyroid a few months ago-my tsh is borderline, but I was symptomatic, and so I was referred to an endocrinologist (the MD who did it knew we were ttc, and said that it was a good idea because thyroid issue can be related to all sorts of pregnancy complications and miscarriage.) I'm taking thyroid replacement and avoiding soy, but I'm going to have them draw a thyroid panel when the NP confirms pregnancy so that if my meds need to be adjusted it can be done ASAP.

Sorry to ressurect this but I searched our DDC for thyroid before posting and this came up...

I was diagnosed hypothyroid about 8 weeks into this pregnancy with the routine blood draw...me TSH was 4.6...they said I have "Hashimotos" and that I would need synthroid for the rest of my life but that the dose would most likely vary...I'm currently on 125mg...my TSH went from 4.6 to 1.8 8 weeks later and now at 30 weeks it is down to 0.34 and the doc said to just "skip a pill" each week, like Sunday, and we will test again in 4 weeks because it is borderline too low...I just want to get this in check before I have to worry about milk supply isses that I hear arise when you are hyper or hypo...any thoughts?

When they had me on the anti thyroid meds when pegnant with ds it was too much for me after awhile so they started cutting my dose. When ds was born he had it in his system still and had to be retested because they thought he was hypothyroid. It came back normal the 2nd time.

The endo said that I had Graves and would need treatment and maybe even destroy my thyroid... after ds was born my thyroid went back to normal. I did stop taking the meds right after he was born because I didn't want it in my milk.

It was a good choice for me but I can't speak for anyone else.

I don't know what my thyroid is doing this time around. I can't see the endo and for some reason my midwifes won't recheck it :irked:
